Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Lan Lan… please wake up
Outside, the world had turned into pure chaos.

Thunder cracked again and again, shaking the tree houses, and the rain slammed down so violently that the entire ground looked like a raging river instead of a place where people lived.

The floodwater had climbed halfway up the trunks of the smaller trees, swirling with mud and broken branches.

Even though they are on top of a mountain and the water would slowly go down, it still has flooded the area because of the sheer amount of intense rain.

Tribe leader Su Mingxuan stood at the highest platform, shouting orders while gripping the tree so tightly his knuckles were white.

“Call all the patrolling beastmen! Pull the cubs and female inside! Tie the supplies to the roof beams…hurry!”

He looked like a madman running back and forth, his hair soaked, his clothes sticking to his skin, but he didn’t stop even for a second. Because if even one person died… if even one child was swept away… he would never forgive himself.

His voice went hoarse from shouting, but he pushed his own fear aside.

“Move! Everyone get inside! Do not step outside…do you hear me?!”

The tribe listened; they were terrified, scrambling inside their tree houses as the wind howled and lightning lit up the sky in blinding flashes.

But inside the newly built tree house of Su Qinglan’s family…everything fell silent.

Not because the storm was quiet, but because something far more frightening had happened.

Su Qinglan, who had been crying and screaming just moments earlier, suddenly went limp in Hu Yan’s arms like her strings had been cut.

Her head fell against his chest. Her eyes closed. Her body was cold.

“Lan Lan?” Hu Yan whispered shakily. “Lan Lan…wake up.”

At first, he thought she was just exhausted. But when she didn’t respond… when she didn’t even move…

His heart dropped.

“Lan Lan?! LAN LAN!!”

Han Jue and Rong Ye froze. For a moment, none of them could breathe.

Then all three panicked at once.

“Wake up! Please…wake up!” Rong Ye shook her gently. “Open your eyes, Qinglan!”

“Qinglan! Can you hear me?” Han Jue pressed his ear to her chest to check her heartbeat, but his own hands were trembling too much.

The storm outside grew so violent that even the strongest beastmen would be thrown off their feet. The entire shelter roof they had built just moments ago shuddered, and water leaked through cracks in the wooden roof.

And soon their newly built shed had already collapsed under the force of the rain, so they were stuck inside with the door blocked shut by a massive stone to keep the floodwater out.

They couldn’t escape. They couldn’t call for help. They couldn’t even step outside. And most importantly, no one in the tribe has knowledge of medicine aside from her and the witch doctor.

She was unconscious, and the witch doctor still has not returned, leaving them with no option. All they had was each other.

Hu Yan, shaking uncontrollably, held her face with both hands.

“Lan Lan, please… please… Look at me…” His voice cracked. “Don’t terrify us…”

But she didn’t move.

Her wet hair clung to her pale cheeks, her breaths soft and faint, as if she were drifting somewhere far away from them.

The sight broke something inside all three men.

And it shattered Hu Yan completely. His eyes turned blood red. He stood up suddenly, so fast that Rong Ye flinched.

“I’m going to find Xuan Long.”

Han Jue’s head snapped up. Rong Ye jumped to his feet too.

“What?” Rong Ye yelled. “Are you insane?!”

Hu Yan’s voice trembled with rage and desperation. “I have to find him! If he’s alive—if he’s out there alone…I must bring him back! She…she fainted because of him! If I don’t go, she…”

“SHUT UP!!” Rong Ye roared, grabbing his arm. “Has your brain been eaten by insects?!”

Hu Yan froze.

Rong Ye’s voice rises even higher with a deadpan tone.

“How will you find someone in this kind of rain?! The moment you step outside, you’ll be swept away! The ground is gone, Hu Yan…GONE! There is nothing to step on!”

Hu Yan clenched his jaw, but Rong Ye didn’t stop.

“And if YOU disappear next…do you know what will happen to her?! HUH?!”

Hu Yan’s breath hitched.

Rong Ye shoved him backward.

“She is carrying your cubs! Your children! You want to abandon her?!”

He pointed at Su Qinglan’s unconscious form.

“Go outside if you want to die! But if you leave her, then I will become their father! I will raise them! I will never let her cry again!”

The words hit Hu Yan like lightning. His legs shook. His mind cleared. And his eyes, still red, slowly filled with guilt.

“…I…” he whispered, staring at Su Qinglan. “I wasn’t thinking…”

He fell to his knees beside her.

Rong Ye let out a shaky breath, trying to calm himself.

Han Jue, already focused on Qinglan, muttered, “We need to change her clothes. She’s too cold.”

The three worked quickly, hands trembling, stripping her soaked clothes and replacing them with dry hides. But the moment they touched her skin…

“She’s freezing,” Han Jue whispered, fear tightening his voice. “She’s so cold…”

They tried rubbing her arms. They tried warming her hands, but nothing helped. They needed fire. But fire was impossible.

The storm was too strong. The air was too wet. Even breathing felt heavy.

Han Jue’s brows pressed together harshly.

“There is… only one option,” he said quietly.

Before either of the others could ask…Han Jue stripped off his clothes and transformed in a blur of white light.

An enormous arctic wolf stood where he was, fur shining faintly in the dim shelter light.

Without hesitation, the wolf lowered himself beside Su Qinglan, curling his massive warm body around her, enveloping her completely in his thick fur.

He covered her like a living blanket.

Her pale skin touched his warmth, and slowly… very slowly… her shivering eased.

Hu Yan and Rong Ye sat beside them, helpless, scared out of their minds, staring at her fragile face that was finally gaining a hint of color.

Hu Yan clenched his fists. Rong Ye pressed a shaky hand against her forehead.

The wolf breathed softly, warming her with every heartbeat.

Inside the treehouse, the only sounds left were the storm outside… and their desperate whispers.

“Lan Lan… please wake up…”
