159: Chapter 159: Su Qinglan… I’ll make you pay!

159: Chapter 159: Su Qinglan… I’ll make you pay!

“Lan Lan, how could I ever let my beautiful female touch the ground when my strong, heroic arms exist?” he said proudly, tightening his hold around her waist.

“If you fall, then fall into my embrace.” Su Qinglan glared at him, her hair whipping into his face.

“You call this safe?

You almost tripped over a root!” He grinned, breathless but still somehow smug.

“That was not a trip; that was a…

romantic stumble!

The forest just couldn’t bear our beauty and tried to hug us!” Su Qinglan’s jaw dropped.

“Rong Ye, do you even hear yourself sometimes?” “Of course,” he replied proudly, dodging a branch.

“I have excellent ears!

They’re big, fluffy, and perfect for listening to your sweet voice, Lan Lan.” She looked at him like she was seriously reconsidering every decision that led her here.

Su Qinglan covered her face with one hand, groaning.

“Why did I ever agree to let you follow me today…” “Because fate knew you couldn’t resist me!” he said with a wink, narrowly avoiding another root.

“Even destiny ships us!” “Destiny’s about to ship you straight into a tree if you don’t watch where you’re going!” Rong Ye yelped, twisting aside just in time to avoid crashing into one.

“See?

You care for me!

I knew it!” Su Qinglan sighed, deadpan.

“I care about not dying because of your stupidity.” He flashed her a grin so bright it almost made her forget to stay mad.

“Ah, so you admit we’ll die together.” “Rong Ye,” she said flatly, “if you trip again, I will let you fall face first.” He chuckled sheepishly.

“Then I’ll still be lucky…

because it’ll be the ground that kisses me instead of you.” “…” Su Qinglan silently vowed that if they made it back alive, she’d personally check whether his skull contained a brain or just pure nonsense.

*** The night was long and cold inside the small, damp cave where Bai Lianhua had been thrown.

The air smelled of moss and dirt.

There was no hide to cover herself; there was only the chill of the stone floor pressing against her skin.

A cracked stone bowl sat beside her with a few sips of stale water and a half-rotten vegetable that looked like it had been thrown there as an afterthought.

Her stomach ached with hunger, but her anger burned hotter than her hunger ever could.

She sat there in the dark, eyes glinting with hate.

How could this be happening to her?

She…Bai Lianhua, the tribe’s most admired female, was being treated like a criminal, like some worthless beast.

Her hands clenched tightly around her knees as she thought of the tribe leader.

That old man.

He had really gone this far?

He knew very well that no female was ever killed for harming a beastman.

The worst punishment was to take a few beast husbands from the tribe and maybe lose some freedom for a while.

But this time… he had crossed the line.

Because she had harmed his daughter.

That was the difference.

That little bitch Su Qinglan had ruined everything.

Bai Lianhua’s teeth ground together as she thought of her.

The old man had turned a blind eye to every rule just for that bitch.

And now… they had decided to sell her to a lower tribe.

As a breeding female.

The words echoed in her mind like poison.

“No… no, I won’t allow it,” she whispered to herself, her voice trembling with fury.

At first, she had screamed until her voice broke.

She had begged, cried, and pleaded that she would accept punishment…anything else.

She had even fallen to her knees, saying she would take beast husbands from the tribe, whoever they chose.

But no one was willing to mate with her, not even the weaker beastmen who once followed her around like loyal dogs.

And it was all because of her.

That bitch, Su Qinglan, had opened her mouth in front of everyone and ruined everything.

She had planned everything carefully; she would mate with a few weaker beastmen, pretend to live with them for a while, then abandon them one by one after her punishment ended.

She was sure no one would ever find out.

But Su Qinglan… that bitch had exposed everything.

She had stood there, calm and sweet-faced, and told everyone exactly what Bai Lianhua planned to do.

After that, even the weakest, most desperate beastmen refused to accept her.

“She doesn’t want to stay with anyone,” Su Qinglan had said in front of them all.

“She just wants to use them until she’s free.” And that one sentence destroyed Bai Lianhua completely.

And now even the desperate beastmen didn’t want her.

Bai Lianhua laughed bitterly in the darkness, though the sound came out more like a sob.

They all looked at her like she was a pest now.

A disease to be rid of.

Not one of them protested when they heard she would be sold away.

Not one.

Her heart filled with hatred.

She hugged her knees tighter and whispered through clenched teeth, “Su Qinglan… you’ll regret this.

I’ll make sure of it.” The night crawled by slowly, each minute stretching into an eternity.

She didn’t sleep.

She just sat there, glaring at the cave wall as if she could burn a hole through it with her rage.

When morning finally came, two beastmen appeared at the entrance.

They didn’t speak a word.

They didn’t even look at her.

One threw a rough piece of cloth toward her.

“Cover yourself.

We’re leaving.” Her throat was dry, and her eyes stung from exhaustion, but she forced herself to stand.

“Where are you taking me?” she demanded, but neither answered.

She tried again, voice shaking, “At least tell me which tribe…!” “Quiet,” one of them said coldly.

That single word silenced her.

They didn’t give her food.

They didn’t let her rest.

And no matter how much she begged, they ignored her completely.

Even when she stumbled and fell on the rough path, they didn’t help her up.

Bai Lianhua realized then…they weren’t just guards.

They were both mated beastmen.

Of course.

The tribe leader had chosen them on purpose, so she couldn’t try to seduce them or escape.

The humiliation burned in her chest.

That old bastard had thought of everything.

As the sun rose over the horizon, they left the tribe’s borders behind.

The air grew colder and her heart emptier.

No one came to see her off.

No one even bothered to look.

The tribe was waking up, but she was already gone, led down the narrow forest path toward a place she didn’t know, toward a fate worse than death.

Her hands trembled as she stumbled forward, hate twisting her heart.

She bit her lip until it bled, whispering one last time to herself…

“Su Qinglan… I’ll make you pay.

Even if I have to crawl back from hell itself.”
