- Chapter 134 - 134 Chapter 134 Meeting Liu Shan
134: Chapter 134: Meeting Liu Shan 134: Chapter 134: Meeting Liu Shan The moment those quiet words left Su Qinglan’s lips, the air in the cave shifted.
Xuan Long’s expression darkened instantly.
His sharp eyes, always calm and composed, turned cold as steel.
For a long moment, he just stared at her…
then his voice came out low and steady but edged with something dangerous.
“No,” he said flatly.
“She is not your mother.” Su Qinglan blinked, caught off guard.
“What?” He didn’t look away.
His gaze stayed fixed on her face, as if trying to read something hidden there.
“A mother doesn’t look at her child with hatred,” he said slowly.
“She doesn’t come only to humiliate or to steal food from her.
That woman… is not a mother.” For a moment, Su Qinglan just stared at him, lips slightly parted.
Then a small, bitter smile curved on her face.
“I know,” she said softly.
“Mothers aren’t supposed to be like that.” Her eyes dropped to her hands resting on her knees.
“But she is, unfortunately.
A nasty one.
And she’s always been that way.” There was quiet for a moment.
The others exchanged looks but said nothing.
Xuan Long’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t press further.
But his eyes have some strange look, like he wanted to explain something but doesn’t have an idea how to.
So he just simply nodded and replied, “…I see,” he said at last.
His tone was calm again, but the frost hadn’t melted from it.
Su Qinglan gave a small shrug, forcing a lighter tone.
“Don’t worry about it.
I’m used to her little dramas.” Even Hu Yan and Han Jue’s faces turned dark.
Rong Ye snorted, looking at the cave entrance where Mu Lihua had gone.
“That female has guts… stealing food like that.
I was waiting all morning for breakfast.” Hu Yan sighed and stood up, his voice calm as always.
“Don’t worry.
I’ll cook something else.” Han Jue nodded.
“We brought more meat.
Let’s cook it properly.
I don’t want Lan Lan to go hungry.” Su Qinglan smiled as she still couldn’t realize how someone could be so shameless as to barge into someone’s home and steal their food with a righteous expression.
If she let this old witch digest her food for nothing, her name would not be Su Qinglan.
She needs to teach this old hag a lesson, or who knows when she would barge into her cave and grab her food with those dirty hands of hers.
“Then… let’s cook with rice,” she said softly.
“I want to eat that again.” So they started preparing.
Hu Yan and Han Jue worked near the fire, setting up the cooking area again.
Rong Ye sat down to help, cutting and cleaning the meat with quick hands.
Xuan Long helped wash the rice and poured it into the big stone pot.
Soon, the cave was filled again with the sound of chopping and fire crackling.
The smell of meat roasting slowly filled the air once more.
After everyone had eaten their fill, the cave finally fell quiet again.
Only the soft sound of the fire crackling remained.
Hu Yan leaned back, patting his stomach.
“That was good,” he said with a satisfied sigh.
Rong Ye nodded in agreement.
“Yeah.
I feel alive again.
But we should go check on the tree house before it gets dark.” Han Jue stood up immediately, brushing the crumbs off his clothes.
“Right.
We have to finish it soon.
If we don’t, the next rain will wash everything down again.” Su Qinglan looked up at them.
“You’re going now?” “Mm,” Rong Ye said, tying his hair.
“It won’t take long.
You can come later if you want.” She wanted to go too.
Her heart tugged a little…she really liked that spot on the mountain.
But she had other things to do.
“I’ll come later,” she said finally.
“I still have to talk to the tribe about the rice.
We need to find a way to store food for the rainy days.” Han Jue gave her a small smile.
“That’s important too.
Take your time.” Rong Ye waved his hand as he walked out.
“We’ll be waiting for you, sweet Lan Lan.” Su Qinglan rolled her eyes but smiled anyway.
“Yeah, yeah.
Don’t fall off the tree again.” After the two of them left, the cave felt a bit emptier.
Hu Yan was already cleaning the dishes quietly, while Xuan Long was nowhere to be seen.
He had gone off into the forest right after the meal without saying a word.
She thought about asking where he went… but then decided against it.
Everyone had their own life.
Their own things to do.
Su Qinglan stretched her arms and stood up.
“Let’s go check on Liu Shan,” she said.
“I hope she’s doing better.” Hu Yan nodded.
“I’ll come with you.” Stove also jumped on her as he was ready to go; he was not going to leave her at any moment.
“Alright then,” Su Qinglan said, smiling.
“Let’s bring her something warm to eat.
She might like rice.” Hu Yan quickly packed some food in a small leaf and put it in the small vine basket.
The smell of cooked rice and meat still lingered in the air as they stepped out of the cave together.
The wind outside was cool, brushing softly against her face.
The forest ahead looked calm, green leaves glistening under the sunlight.
She turned back to the path and smiled faintly.
“Let’s go.” When they reached the familiar cave, Su Qinglan stopped for a moment.
A small smile curved her lips.
There, sitting on a flat rock near the entrance, was Liu Shan.
The female looked thinner, her face still pale, but there was color in her cheeks now, a faint rosy glow that hadn’t been there before.
Her long hair fell loosely over her shoulders, and she was quietly basking in the sunlight, her eyes half closed like a cat enjoying the warmth.
“Liu Shan!” Su Qinglan called softly.
The female looked up, startled for a moment, then smiled weakly.
“Qinglan… you came.” Su Qinglan nodded and walked closer, crouching beside her.
“Of course I did.
I brought you something.” She lifted the bowl slightly.
“Rice and meat.” Liu Shan froze for a moment, staring at the bowl Su Qinglan held out to her.
Her lips trembled as she opened her mouth to say something, but no words came.
Then suddenly, tears filled her eyes.
Before Su Qinglan could react, Liu Shan reached out and clung to her tightly.
Her thin arms wrapped around Su Qinglan’s shoulders, her body trembling as quiet sobs escaped her lips.
“Why…” she choked out, her voice breaking.
“Why are you so good to me?”
