- Chapter 131 - 131 Chapter 131 Father Is Worried About You
131: Chapter 131: Father Is Worried About You 131: Chapter 131: Father Is Worried About You Su Qinglan was already tired before they even started moving, but all her beastmen decided they would travel through the night.
Hu Yan said it was safer that way…they could reach the tribe by morning without running into danger.
So she didn’t argue.
She just ended up lying on Rong Ye’s back, clutching his soft fur as he carried her through the dark forest.
His body was warm and steady, and the gentle rhythm of his steps made her eyes grow heavier and heavier.
She tried to stay awake at first, but before she knew it, her head dropped against his shoulder, and she was already asleep.
She didn’t even realize when they reached the tribe.
When she opened her eyes again, she was no longer in the forest.
She was lying on her familiar stone bed, a thin hide covering her, the faint scent of morning dew and something delicious drifting in the air.
Her mind was still hazy.
“Huh…?” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
Then she smelled it again…warm, fragrant, and rich food.
She sat up slowly and looked around.
Near the fire, Hu Yan was crouched, stirring a pot with a calm, focused face.
The golden light from the flames made his tanned skin glow.
“You’re awake,” Hu Yan said without looking back.
He smiled faintly.
“Come, eat something.” Su Qinglan yawned, stretching her arms as she got up.
Her hair was messy and her eyes still sleepy, but she walked to him anyway.
Hu Yan leaned over and planted a quick kiss on her cheek before handing her a bowl.
“Eat before it gets cold.” She blinked, still half asleep.
“We already reached the tribe?” He nodded.
“Mm.
We arrived early in the morning.
You were asleep the whole way.” Su Qinglan stared at him.
“Wait…did you even rest?
You traveled all night, Hu Yan.
Aren’t you tired?
You’re not made of rock, you know.” Hu Yan laughed heartily, shaking his head.
“We’ve rested enough.
Don’t worry.
Rong Ye, Han Jue, and Xuan Long went hunting for breakfast.
Only I stayed behind.” Su Qinglan puffed her cheeks a little, still unconvinced, but she didn’t argue more.
Instead, she just nodded and went to wash her face.
The cold water made her wake up properly.
After brushing her teeth with a little salt, she came back and sat beside Hu Yan.
He had already served her a simple meal…some minced beef mixed with herbs and a bit of unknown things.
It wasn’t fancy, but it smelled amazing.
She started eating slowly, chewing and chewing until warmth spread through her whole body.
Her stomach felt happy again.
Just as she was about to take another bite, hurried footsteps echoed from outside the cave.
She looked up in surprise.
In the next second, a tall man rushed in.
His hair was messy and his breathing heavy, but his eyes were full of worry.
“Qinglan!” Su Qinglan froze, the chopsticks still halfway to her mouth.
“Father?” Before she could even stand, her father came straight to her side and grabbed her hands tightly.
His eyes were slightly red.
“Qinglan, you’re fine!” he said, his voice shaking a little.
“Where did you all go?
Father was so worried about you!” Su Qinglan blinked at him, stunned for a moment, then gave a small, guilty smile.
“Ah… sorry, Father.
We had some… trouble.” Hu Yan turned around, bowing slightly in respect.
“We made sure she was safe, Tribe Leader.” Her father nodded but didn’t let go of Su Qinglan’s hands.
“Don’t disappear like that again, alright?
You almost made me lose sleep for days.” Su Qinglan smiled softly and squeezed his hands back.
“I promise, Father.
I’m fine now.” Hu Yan quietly placed another bowl of food near them and said, “Leader, please eat something too.
You came running all this way.” Her father glanced at the food, then at his daughter, finally letting out a deep breath of relief.
Su Qinglan could only sigh softly too, her heart feeling warm.
After so many nights of chaos, danger, and running around… This simple morning, with her father beside her and Hu Yan cooking, finally felt peaceful.
But Su Mingxuan was still not convinced at all.
Even though she had already told him she was fine, his brows stayed furrowed and his voice was tight with worry.
“Qinglan, you still haven’t told me what actually happened,” he said, crossing his arms.
“You all disappeared for almost two days.
No one came to tell me anything.
If I hadn’t gone to check the cave myself, I wouldn’t even have known you were gone!
The whole place was empty!” Su Qinglan bit her lip, feeling a bit guilty.
Before she could answer, Hu Yan gently patted her shoulder and spoke softly.
“Leader, nothing serious happened.
We just went traveling in the mountains,” he said.
“But on the way, we got attacked by several evil ferocious beasts.
They were unusually aggressive.” Su Qinglan quickly nodded and added, trying to sound casual, “Yeah, it wasn’t too bad, Father.
Hu Yan protected me really well, but… Then suddenly, an owl beastman appeared out of nowhere and kidnapped me.” Her father’s eyes widened immediately.
“What!?” he shouted, his voice booming in the small cave.
“An owl beastman?
He kidnapped you!?” He was already fuming, his face turning red with anger.
“How dare he touch my daughter!
What kind of beastman was he?
Was he a stray or a normal one from a tribe!?” Su Qinglan looked at him helplessly.
“I… I don’t really know.
He didn’t look like a stray to me.
I think he was a normal beastman.
He didn’t seem crazy, at least not at first.” Hu Yan frowned beside her, glancing at her with a worried gaze.
“Did he say anything?
Why did he take you?” Su Qinglan shook her head slowly.
“When he took me to this really high cliff, he said he wanted to kill me.
That’s all.
He didn’t even have a proper reason…just said it like some kind of lunatic.” “But he is just an overconfident beastman who thinks I am too weak to fight him, so he just left me there alone and even told me his name like I would not be alive to tell anyone.” Su Qinglan giggles at the memories.
But her father’s face stiffened.
“What’s his name?” Su Qinglan hesitated, then said quietly, “He said his name was Luo Chen.”
