- Chapter 119 - 119 Chapter 119 His Jealous Heart
119: Chapter 119: His Jealous Heart 119: Chapter 119: His Jealous Heart Su Qinglan sat beside him for a long time, just watching the slow rise and fall of his chest.
Only after a while she turned her head toward Xuan Long, who was sitting near the stone bed.
“Xuan Long,” she said softly, “have you eaten anything?
You must be tired too… All this happened because of me.” Her voice was filled with worry.
Xuan Long looked at her for a moment, then gave a small nod.
“Don’t worry.
I ate a lot in the morning.
And even if I didn’t, beastmen can go hungry for many days.
You don’t need to worry about me.” Su Qinglan wanted to argue, wanted to tell him he should still eat something, but his calm eyes stopped her.
He looked so sure, so strong, that she couldn’t say more.
So she just nodded quietly.
But Xuan Long could feel something had changed in her.
She was quiet now, nothing like the bright and talkative female from before.
It was like all her light had dimmed after seeing Hu Yan’s wounds.
His chest felt tight watching her like that.
He knew this tiger had a deep place in her heart.
Maybe more than he had ever imagined.
That thought made something dark twist inside him.
His heart clenched painfully, and his breath grew heavy.
So that’s why she doesn’t want him to kill him… Because she loves him that much, he thought bitterly.
Before he could even stop himself, he suddenly pulled her closer into his arms.
“Xuan Long?” she gasped softly, surprised.
He looked down at her, his eyes dark and wild.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked.
As she had told him, he couldn’t kiss her before asking, but before she could even open her mouth, his lips were already on hers.
The kiss was hot and fierce.
It carried all the anger, jealousy, and desire he had been holding back the whole day.
The pain of watching her cry for another beastman and the sight of her tending to Hu Yan so gently, washing his wounds and cleaning his fur, had all burned inside him like fire.
He poured all of it into that kiss.
Su Qinglan froze for a moment.
Her hands pressed weakly against his chest, but he didn’t hurt her.
He just kissed her deeply, again and again, as if trying to tell her everything his heart couldn’t say.
When he finally pulled away, both of them were breathing hard.
Her lips were red and wet, her eyes dazed.
Xuan Long looked at her, his throat dry, his heart beating wildly.
Her lips looked like soft, juicy fruits, and he wanted to kiss them again…but he forced himself not to.
Instead, he whispered hoarsely, “You should worry about me too… you should love me too.” His voice was deep and low, almost like a plea.
He was afraid that now she has found her beast husband, she would forget about him.
Before she could answer, he buried his face against her shoulder, his arms still wrapped tightly around her.
He didn’t want to see her eyes.
He didn’t want to see if she looked at him with confusion or pity or, worse, if she didn’t look at him the same way she looked at that tiger.
He could feel her heartbeat against his cheek; they were beating loudly just like his.
His own hands clenched slightly against her back as his eyes closed.
Inside him, the bloodlust stirred again.
The thought of Hu Yan lying there, being the one she cried for, made him burn inside.
For a brief second, he wanted to destroy everything, to make her see only him.
But then his mind replayed the words he heard earlier that morning from an older beastman who had given him advice.
“If you want a female to love you, respect her heart.
Never force her.
Don’t try to dominate her.
A female’s heart blooms only when she feels safe.” Xuan Long took a deep breath and held it in.
He didn’t want to become like the other snake beastmen, the kind who were abandoned for being too possessive and cruel.
He didn’t want Su Qinglan to fear him.
He didn’t want her to hate him.
He just wanted to stay by her side.
So he held her gently, his head still resting on her shoulder.
He listened to her heartbeat, the sound steady and close.
It calmed him, even though it hurt.
His hand slowly tightened around her, as if afraid she would slip away if he loosened his grip.
His eyes closed.
For the first time in centuries, the cold-hearted snake beastman felt something so fragile: the fear of losing someone he had only just found.
On the other side, Su Qinglan completely froze.
Xuan Long was still holding her tightly, his head buried on her shoulder.
His arms were strong, but the way he held her didn’t feel like a lover’s embrace…
it felt like someone scared, someone lost.
At first, she wanted to push him away.
“Xuan Long,” she whispered softly, her voice shaking a little, “what happened to you?
Why do you sound so sad?” But he didn’t answer.
He only clutched her closer, his breath warm against her neck.
His fingers slightly trembled on her back, holding her like a child who was afraid to lose something precious.
Her heart softened instantly.
All her thoughts of pushing him away disappeared when she felt that trembling.
She couldn’t bring herself to hurt him.
So she just sighed quietly and raised her hand, resting it gently on his head.
Her fingers moved slowly through his hair, brushing the soft strands, patting his back softly….
She didn’t even realize when her other hand started to rub his shoulder, slow and careful.
“It’s alright,” she whispered without even knowing why she said it.
“It’s alright now…” The sadness she felt from him was so deep it made her chest heavy.
She didn’t understand it…
didn’t understand why he suddenly broke like this or what pain was hiding in that strong body of his.
But somehow, she wanted to make it go away.
So she kept patting him gently, again and again, in silence.
The only sound in the cave was the faint rhythm of their breaths.
