117: Chapter 117: The Thorns of Her Wrath 117: Chapter 117: The Thorns of Her Wrath Su Qinglan’s hands were trembling as she pressed them over Hu Yan’s body.

The green glow of her healing power burst out from her palms, wrapping his bloodied form in soft light.

The ground under them was sticky with blood.

The air smelled heavily of blood.

Her heart pounded as she poured every last bit of energy she had left into him.

She didn’t even care how pale her face had become.

The wounds on his body slowly started to close.

The deep scratches that were bleeding heavily finally stopped.

Thick blood clots formed, covering the torn flesh.

When she saw that, Su Qinglan let out a shaky breath.

“He won’t bleed anymore…” she whispered, her lips trembling.

Her body swayed from exhaustion, but her eyes never left him.

“Two more times,” she muttered, “two more times and he’ll be completely fine…” Still, she smiled faintly…

a broken but relieved full smile.

At least now, he wouldn’t bleed to death, or his life would be in danger.

Her fingers touched his face, trying to wipe off the dried blood from his cheek.

The warmth of his skin under all that mess made her chest ache.

Her vision blurred as tears filled her eyes.

“Hu Yan…” she called softly, her voice cracking.

She lowered her head and rested it against his furry shoulder.

Tears fell silently onto his fur, darkening the already red patches.

It hurt…

It hurt so much to see him like this.

He was the first person she met in this world… the first who treated her gently, spoiled her, protected her, and made her laugh without reason.

Somewhere along the way, she had grown so attached to him, and now, seeing him covered in blood like this, it broke her heart into pieces.

Her hands clenched.

Her tears stopped as anger started to rise.

Those stray beastmen… How dare they?

She wished she could crush them all with her bare hands for what they did to him.

And then her eyes turned cold as she thought of that one person, that damned owl beastman.

“If not for him…” she whispered through her teeth, “If not for that bastard, Hu Yan would’ve never gone through this… I swear, I’ll drill holes in his whole body the next time I see him…” Her voice was low but full of hatred.

She continued to stroke Hu Yan’s fur, trying to calm the beast’s trembling body, combing his bloodied hair with her fingers.

Her movements were gentle, but her heart was anything but calm.

Xuan Long stood behind her silently, his dark eyes watching the scene.

Something heavy filled his chest as he looked at the girl crying so helplessly for another beast man.

After a long silence, he finally slithered closer.

His tail brushed softly against the ground as he knelt beside her.

“Don’t cry,” he said quietly, his deep voice calm and steady.

“He’s fine now.

Let’s go back to the cave.

He can rest there.” Su Qinglan looked up at him.

Her eyes were red and tired, her lashes wet with tears.

She nodded slowly and gave him a small, weak smile.

“Xuan Long… Thank you.

Truly… thank you.

If not for you, I wouldn’t even be able to reach him in time.

Maybe… maybe they would have done something worse to him…” Her voice was full of gratitude, soft but honest.

Xuan Long’s chest tightened at her words.

He wanted to tell her that she didn’t need to thank him.

Everything he did…

he did because he belonged to her.

Because he would do anything for her.

But when he opened his mouth, no words came out.

He just looked at her for a moment before nodding slightly.

“Let’s go,” he said instead.

Without another word, he slipped one arm under Su Qinglan and lifted her gently.

She didn’t resist; her body was too tired, her heart too heavy.

She looked once more at Hu Yan, worry still shadowing her face.

“How will you take him?” she asked softly.

Xuan Long looked at the limp tiger lying on the ground and replied calmly, “I’ll keep him safe in my tail.” He stretched his long tail, wrapping it carefully around Hu Yan’s injured body, securing him softly but firmly.

And just like that, the trio…a snake, a tiger, and a broken-hearted girl…began their slow journey back to the cave.

Su Qinglan was still in Xuan Long’s arms.

Her body felt weak, but her eyes were wide open.

She was staring at Hu Yan’s limp figure that was carefully wrapped in Xuan Long’s tail.

Her heart twisted again, seeing him like that.

His fur was no longer golden but red, soaked in his own blood.

Then, as her gaze drifted behind, she caught sight of the five stray beastmen lying sprawled on the ground.

They were unconscious, breathing faintly, their bodies scattered like broken dolls.

Her eyes slowly hardened.

The softness in them faded away, replaced by something cold.

And the next moment…the ground trembled slightly beneath them.

And soon, in no time, thick, spiky vines suddenly burst out from the soil, twisting and coiling like living snakes before shooting straight into the air.

In a blink, they pierced through the bodies of those stray beasts.

Blood splattered everywhere.

The beasts suddenly awakened by fright and screamed as the vines drilled holes through their chests, arms, and necks.

Su Qinglan didn’t even blink.

Her eyes stayed fixed on them; her eyes were calm, emotionless, and merciless.

For once, she didn’t feel pity.

She didn’t feel guilt.

Only a cold satisfaction as she watched them die; she felt like she had returned back to the apocalypse world.

When she arrived here, she swore to herself she would never kill until and unless she was provoked.

She didn’t want a life of bloodshed, but it seems the world is still cruel, and there is no place for someone weak or someone who wants to live without any burden.

And she didn’t regret killing them; they had dared to touch Hu Yan.

For that, they deserved no forgiveness.

Her heart didn’t flinch even when she met the terrified eyes of one of the beasts who woke up just before the vine pierced through his chest.

He gasped, but her face stayed blank, her eyes colder than ice.
