Chapter 326: 326- Updated*
“My disciple, let me tell you this, this world is truly backward,” Zhao Lusi said.

“To be able to reach the Nascent Soul Realm under these conditions, one must be gifted from birth and blessed by the heavens. Anyone who succeeds is either extremely lucky or terrifyingly talented.”

She cast Fang Yuan a bright glance.

“And that’s why you should take this experience as if you are in luck.”

Before Fang Yuan could respond, she clapped her hands lightly.

“now then, let us take a look.”

With a wave of her hand, Fang Yuan felt a strange tug on his consciousness, as though something were pulling him out of his body.

The sensation grew stronger until the world around him blurred. Colors melded together, shapes dissolved, and the void twisted.

Then everything snapped back into focus.

He found himself standing upon the familiar streets of Coldwind City, only decades earlier.

The vision belonged to Lin Xi.

She stood in the center of the bustling district she had coveted for years. The buildings were worn, the roads uneven, and the location was far from ideal for proper business.

Yet it was here that she had started her first humble shop. No matter how her power grew or how successful she became, this district remained precious to her.

She wanted that land not for profit, not for expansion, but purely because it was hers. Because it carried her memories, her pride, and her beginnings.

For years she had slowly diverted customers away from this area by opening cleaner and cheaper shops in better locations.

Business flowed toward her new establishments, leaving this district withering and nearly abandoned.

It was a calculated strategy, designed to lower the value of the land so that she could buy it at a fraction of its worth.

Everything had been falling into place.

When rumors spread that the Fang Family was finally considering selling the district, she felt her long-awaited opportunity had arrived.

Time passes and soon, the negotiation day came.

The Lin elders were seated on one side of the table, the Fang elders on the other. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation.

Just when the contract was about to be discussed, the door opened.

A boy stepped in. He looked barely thirteen, but his eyes gleamed with confidence and coincidentally enough he made eye contact with Lin Xi.

“I am Fang Yuan,” the boy announced loudly. “Everyone should remember that name. Last year, I placed fifth in the Coldwind Tournament. This year, I will take first place.”

Lin Xi felt her forehead twitch.

What did this child’s boasting have to do with business negotiations?

She stood up sharply.

“Fang Yuan, step aside. This is a business meeting. Your tournament ranking has nothing to do with this. The elders are currently in a serious talk.”

Fang Chen panicked behind him.

“Yuan’er, come back here. Stop interrupting—”

But the boy simply ignored him.

“No,” he said firmly. “This is important.”

He pointed directly at Lin Xi.

“Let us make a bet.”

Her eyes narrowed.

“A bet?”

“Yes.”

The boy crossed his arms.

“If I get first place in the Coldwind Tournament this year, you will buy this land for one hundred thousand gold coins.”

Gasps filled the hall and Lin Xi herself immediate stood again.

“One hundred thousand? That amount is ridiculous!”

Fang Yuan in respond simply smirked.

“Wow I can’t believe the Lin family matriach thought so highly of me. Believing I can win the tournament, thank you for your well wishes Matriach.”

At that moment she realized the kid in front of her was adept at speaking and her pride could not accept it.

“Fine,” she snapped. “If you take first, I will pay one hundred thousand gold coins. But if you do not, I will take the land for free.”

Fang Yuan bowed gently.

“Then we have a deal.”

None of the Fang elders came forward to reprimand the kid, it was apparent that this young kid hold power within the Fang family so she took that as a sign of promise.

The scene shifted.

They now stood at the Coldwind Tournament arena.

Crowds cheered, trumpets sounded, and banners waved in the wind. Fang Yuan, still only in Qi Condensation, stood among Golden Core participants.

The audience was stunned as he defeated one opponent after another, fighting with both recklessness and brilliance.

Soon, he reached the finals and Lin Xi started visibly getting nervous and just when the audience thought, perhaps he could also win this?

He lost by the slightest margin.

He took second place.

Lin Xi remembered standing among the crowd afterward, expecting the Fang elders to scold him for making such a dangerous gamble.

Instead, they congratulated him.

A Qi Condensation youth had reached the finals in a year where even Qi Transformation cultivators failed to reach the top ranks.

Fang Yuan became a legend overnight and Lin Xi won the land.

Yet for some reason, despite gaining everything she wanted, she felt she had lost something far greater.

Because, from that year onward, every business move she attempted, every negotiation she pursued, every strategic plan she designed, Fang Yuan was always there.

It didn’t seem as if he was intentionally blocking her, not maliciously interfering.

Yet he existed as an obstacle in her path that overshadowed her every step.

Even when she succeeded, she felt overtaken.

Even when she won, she felt defeated.

The memory vision shifted again.

Lin Xi’s younger self was kneeling in the middle of the silent district, trembling.

Her voice cracked.

“Why are you doing this to me, Fang Yuan? Did I not concede the rights for the Auction house to your family? Why must you continue to harass me?”

A shadow formed before her, and the teenage Fang Yuan stepped out.

He wore the same confident smile from the negotiations, hands behind his back.

“Harass you?” the heart demon whispered. “Too obnoxious. No, I was never targetting you, in fact, I never noticed you.”

Her hands curled into fists. Blood dripped onto the ground and suddenly a surge of qi erupted from her body.
