- Chapter 292 - 292 292- Body Refinement
292: 292- Body Refinement.
292: 292- Body Refinement.
A thunderous boom ripped through the forest as a massive gorilla burst into the clearing.
Unlike a normal gorilla, this beast was towering over ten feet tall, it’s muscles looked like plated iron while it’s silver fur crackled with arcs of violent lightning.
It was none other than the Thunderclaw Silverback Gorilla, its eyes glowed with primal fury as it slammed its fists into the ground, splitting stone.
The impact splitting stone and shaking the air with deafening force.
Xiao Pei let out a strangled scream as he leapt aside, the shockwave tossing dirt and shards of rock past his face.
He landed hard, rolling through ferns slick with rain and sweat.
“Da Pang!
Use that spear!
Use the spear!” Fang Yuan’s voice cut through from the side, holding in a laugh.
“Easy for you to say!” Xiao Pei shouted back as he narrowly dodges another one of the Silverback’s swing, a tree exploded into splinters beside him.
Lightning snapped across the clearing and then the gorilla roared once more and then it rushed forward.
Xiao Pei clenched his jaw, wincing as the grade 5 spear hummed faintly in his hands, runes along its shaft glowing blue.
He gripped it tight, eyes locked on the creature’s burning gaze.
With every steps the Silverback took, the ground quake beneath its very steps.
Xiao Pei planted his feet, gleaming on his spear tip then he also lunged forward.
Fang Yuan on the other hand, staying a safe distance away from the fight popped a wild berry into his mouth as he chewed it lazily watching Xiao Pei fight for his very life.
The sweetness burst across his tongue, oddly refreshing against the smell of ozone and burning foliage.
In front of him, Xiao Pei had already drawn his spear, circling the Thunderclaw Silverback Gorilla with a look of caution and concern.
The monster’s breaths came like storms, each exhale carrying sparks that danced across the torn ground.
The gorilla’s muscles tensed and it moved.
Way faster than something that big should realistically be able to.
In a matter of seconds the Silverback bridged the gap between itself and Xiao Pei and then a thunderous punch crashed down from the beast.
Xiao Pei barely managed to raise his spear in time as a defense saving himself from the damage but at the same time, the impact alone sent him flying into a shattered tree trunk, splinters raining around him.
Pain seared through his body, not just from the blow, but from the electricity flooding his limbs.
He convulsed, smoke curling from his sleeves.
He screamed through grit teeth, “Shao ge!
You never said it has electric capabilities!” Fang Yuan shrugged, still chewing.
“I’m a human, not an AI.” Xiao Pei blinked through the static haze.
“Who the heck is AI!?” The ground boomed again before he got an answer.
The Silverback roared, lightning peeling the bark from nearby trees.
At the peak of Golden Core realm, the silverback’s presence pressed down like a mountain.
While Xiao Pei’s own aura was but a faint, flickering, hovering light at the initial stage quivered under the weight.
Every breath he took felt like nearly drowning in thunder.
Still, he gritted his teeth.
“I’m not going to be bullied by a mere beast.” He tore away the shredded fabric from his arm, blood sparking as he gathered his qi.
“Come, I’ll show you what an initial Golden Core looks like when you continuously push the button!” The Silverback bellowed back like a declaration of challenge between predator and prey.
Xiao Pei lunged forward, spear whistling through the air as radiant qi flared along its edge.
He drew deep from his core, invoking the Fang family’s technique.
Heaven Tyrant Light, First Form: Divine Line.
A streak of blazing brilliance tore across the clearing and struck the Thunderclaw Silverback’s chest… only to leave a faint scratch across its iron hide.
The beast’s roar shattered the silence.
It charged, lightning crackling across its body, every thunderous step devouring the distance between them.
Xiao Pei fell back, leaping again and again, boots skidding over shattered stone and crushed ferns.
“Shao ge!
I think you can come out now!” he yelled, voice cracking over the storm’s rumble.
But there was no answer only the beast’s snarl chasing his every step.
Panic slipped into his tone.
“Shao ge!
Help me!
Brother Shao ge, help!” The Silverback vanished in a blur of motion.
And then another one of its blow landed square on his ribs, the force sending Xiao Pei hurtling through splintered trunks before crumpling to the muddy ground, breath knocked from his lungs.
He coughed blood, copper burning his tongue, vision warping at the edges.
Yet his trembling hand refused to let go of the spear.
Raindrops mingled with the blood and tears streaming down his face as he whispered through clenched teeth, voice breaking with pain and fear.
“Big brother… please… please…” The Silverback’s colossal shadow loomed over him before he could even draw breath.
With a crack like thunder, its fist came crashing down, scattering earth and debris in a violent storm.
Xiao Pei gritted his teeth, agony flaring through every nerve as he forced himself up using the spear for balance.
His knees buckled, but he refused to die that’s easily.
With a desperate roar, he leaped again, spear flashing with fading qi, streaks of blue light tracing through the rain.
But the Silverback moved faster.
Another crushing blow met his side and in that instance, his bones snapped like brittle wood.
His body spun through the air before slamming into the ground yards away, breath shattering in his chest.
Blood splattered across his hands as he tried to push himself up, but his strength was gone.
He coughed, crimson spilling onto the mud.
His vision blurred, the world flickered in a haze of pain and stormlight.
Still, he forced himself to look around one last time.
In search of hope, in search of the person he had sworn brotherhood to but he couldn’t find any.
A bitter smile curled at the edge of his lips as he whispered, voice trembling, barely audible beneath the growl of distant stormclouds.
“Brother Fang… did I do something wrong…?” The words drifted away into the wind, soft and broken, as the Silverback’s shadow stretched over him once more.
Suddenly a voice directly echoed inside Xiao Pei’s mind, “Trust me and block it with the spear.” It was like a beacon piercing through the haze of pain and thunder.
Without hesitation, his body moved on instinct.
He raised his spear just as the Silverback’s crackling fist came crashing down.
When the first hit the spear, the impact roared, sparks of lightning splintering into the air, forcing him back but he lived.
“Brother Fang?” Xiao Pei gasped, barely believing what he’d just did.
Hope flickered in his bruised chest as he turned his head toward the voice.
“Focus!” the voice in his mind snapped, sharp as a whip.
He barely had time to nod before the Silverback’s massive leg swung forward like a battering ram.
The kick slammed into his stomach, knocking the air and hope from his lungs.
He was flung backward, crashing through wet undergrowth and trees.
“Tsk, tsk… you’re still going to need more training.” Fang Yuan’s voice carried a lazy amusement as he stepped out of the void itself, space rippling like water around him.
“Brother Fang!” Xiao Pei’s eyes lit up, his voice trembling with relief.
Fang  Yuan stared at him with eyes full of pride, the faintest smile ghosting across his lips.
Behind him, the battlefield lay silent.
The monstrous Thunderclaw Silverback had already collapsed, its colossal body still crackling with fading lightning.
Xiao Pei’s mind couldn’t comprehend what had happened.
He didn’t see the strike, didn’t sense the power.
But it didn’t matter.
The beast had fallen, and that was enough.
A faint, relieved smile curved his lips before the weight of exhaustion pulled him under.
Darkness took him gently.
Fang Yuan sighed, stepping closer through the smoky air.
His gaze softened as he looked at the unconscious Xiao Pei, his voice dropping to a murmur.
“It’s about time you learned how to fight,” he said quietly.
“Consider this a lesson… and maybe a bit of body refinement too.” With a low sigh, Fang Yuan picked up the spear.
In one smooth motion, he leapt forward, slashing at the silverback with a leisure motion.
The weapon cut through its hide in clean, neat pieces.
He nodded faintly, relief mixed with a twinge of guilt.
The edge had been dulled earlier, his own doing to force Xiao Pei to rely on skill rather than ease.
It made the fight harder, dangerously so… but that was the only way his brother would truly grow.
