291: 291- Let it out.
291: 291- Let it out.
Fang Yuan stepped forward through the crowd as a rare grin kept tugging at his lips.
Dozens of heads snapped toward him as his shadow stretched across the stone.
Without a word, Fang Yuan suddenly bent his knees and leapt up in the air, his cloak sweeping behind him.
In the air, the long spear spun twice in his hands, each rotation leaving behind faint spirals of qi.
The weapon thrummed with life, resonating like a slumbering beast stirred awake.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
He landed with a loud BOOM as he thrust his spear down.
The spear slammed straight into the ground like a thunderbolt, the force splitting the stone beneath it.
A violent gust of wind exploded outward, kicking up sand and dust.
Fang Yuan lifted his head and couldn’t stop the smile spreading across his face.
In truth, he hadn’t expected this.
These people, his clan, despite the overwhelming enemies and likely impossible odds… they still dared to stand up and even be willing to fight.
A proud warmth stirred in his chest.
From the stage, Xiao Pei’s face lit up as soon as he saw him.
His eyes practically sparked.
“BROTHER FANG!!” he bellowed, leaping down from the platform like a wild tiger.
He landed in front of Fang Yuan with a heavy thud and pointed at the spear, eyes blazing.
“With strength like THAT, what is there to fear?!
WE’LL WIN THIS BATTLE FOR SURE!!” The crowd roared in agreement, energy spiking again like lightning through a storm.
Fang Yuan glanced at him, amused.
This guy… every time he opened his mouth, morale shot up another level.
He really has a talent for this, Fang Yuan thought, suppressing a laugh.
He then pulled the spear out from the ground with a smooth motion and rested it against his shoulder.
His eyes swept over the faces of the gathered Fang clansmen, warriors, elders, even servants who had taken up arms.
Their blood was ignited, their fighting spirit blazing.
He raised a hand for silence and then he said with steady voice that carries across the the whole field, “I appreciate your enthusiasm…but today is not going to be the day our clan fights.” The words hit like a stone tossed into a pond, slow at first, then ripples of confusion spreading.
“Huh?” “What does he mean?” “Are we… giving up?” “After all that, are we surrendering!?” Murmurs broke out and sme faces started to twist with uncertainty.
Others narrowed their eyes in suspicion whole a few others even looked betrayed.
Fang Yuan only grinned.
“Relax,” he said calmly.
“I said we’re not fighting today.
I never said we’re not fighting at all.” He tilted the spear slightly, its crimson tip gleaming under the sky.
“Do you really think I brought you all this far… just to kneel and die?” The murmurs stopped and every eye locked onto him.
He let his spiritual pressure lightly seep out, “When the Fang Family fights…” he said slowly, voice turning razor sharp, “we fight to END.” Shock rippled through the crowd, then rising energy, like a heartbeat thundering back to life.
Before the roar could swell again, Fang Yuan lifted a hand and the crowd fell as if a string had been cut.
“But before that opportune day arrives,” he said, voice low but absolute,”I will not let a single Fang clansman die for nothing.” A slow smile touched his lips as he let the words hang, tasting the shift in the air.
“That’s why… tonight… we will vanish from this land.” A shout erupted immediately.
Xiao Pei bounded forward, disbelief written across his face.
“Brother Fang-are you saying we should run away on our tails like cowards?” he demanded.
Fang Yuan’s smile never faltered.
He shook his head once.
“Not running,” he corrected Xiao Pei.
“I call it a strategic retreat.” He turned, scanning the sea of eager, worried faces until his gaze snagged on enough to command their attention again.
“Don’t you want to be strong?
To be very strong and to enjoy the thrill of vanquishing your enemies without raising a finger?” His tone grew softer, almost conspiratorial.
“I’ll teach you how to do that.” Murmurs rippled through the crowd, confusion, hope, a flash of hungry interest.
Fang Yuan let them simmer in anticipation for a breath, then flashed a confident grin.
“Just leave it to me.
When have I ever lied to you?” Xiao Pei’s eyebrow twitched.
All the time, he thought silently but he valued his life, so he wore a bright smile instead as he says,”You’re right, Brother Fang!
Then a strategic retreat it is!” Fang Yuan laughed out loud before casually lifting the spear in his hand.
“Good.
Then take this.” He tossed it toward Xiao Pei with one hand.
“This is a Grade Five weapon.” “H-HUH?!” Xiao Pei nearly screamed.
He fumbled, panicking like a man trying to catch a falling baby, and finally clutched the spear to his chest as if it were his firstborn child.
His eyes trembled.
“G-Grade… FIVE?!” He looked up slowly, stunned.
“Brother Fang… this-why are you giving this to me?” Fang Yuan only smiled at Xiao Pei’s question, offering no explanation.
Instead, he turned to the gathered clansmen and raised his voice.
“Everyone, close your eyes.
This won’t take more than a second.” There was confusion, murmurs, exchanged glances but no one disobeyed and one by one, every eyes were shut.
A pulse of power rippled through the air and in the blink of an eye, everyone of them vanished.
The air also instantly grew thinner and colder.
Suddenly, the clansmen were standing atop a massive mountain range beneath a silver sky, clouds drifting below like a sea of mist.
And around them, ancient stone halls, towering walls, and sweeping courtyards carved into the mountain itself.
Lush spirit trees swayed in rich qi.
Waterfalls spilled down crystalline cliffs.
It was vast, secluded and overflowing with spiritual energy.
Stunned silence followed.
Xiao Pei’s jaw dropped as he slowly turned in place.
“…Brother Fang… where are we?” Fang Yuan clasped his hands behind his back, looking over the sprawling mountain fortress.
“This,” he said with a calm smile, “is Mount Skyhowl.” He glanced over his shoulder.
“And also where the Fang Clan Estate is located.” A stunned, breathless awe swept over the crowd.
Mount Skyhowl… a land saturated with dense qi, far richer than anything Coldwind City could offer.
The air itself felt alive, energizing their bodies with every breath.
Fang Ruì whispered, “…This place… it feels like heaven.” Several elders exchanged looks of disbelief.
One of them muttered, “This qi density… it’s at least five times higher than the spirit veins in Coldwind…” Xiao Pei let out a low whistle, gripping the grade 5 spear over his shoulder with renewed excitement.
“Brother Fang… you didn’t just move the clan, you took us to a whole other world!” “This land belongs to the Fang Clan,” he said coolly.
“I’ve made sure of that after the last tenant moved out.” “Alright, rest while you can because today is the day the new Fang Clan begins here.” He turned, cloak sweeping behind him.
“Elder Fang Chen, can you reorganize the clan members, find housing, distribute rations, secure the perimeter.” “Fang Mei, Fang Yin, survey the spirit veins.” Next his gaze land on Xiao Pei last.
“And as for you, we are going hunting.” Xiao Pei blinked.
“Hunting?
Now?” Fang Yuan grinned.
“We need meat to grow stronger and Mount Skyhowl is full of them.” Xiao Pei’s eyes lit up with battle spirit.
He slammed the spear against the ground.
“Hah!
Then let’s start with something big!” The clansmen watched the two figures vanish into the mountain mist, whispers falling behind them like embers.
The mountain wind swept across the broken remnants of the old Feng clan estate, carrying with it the wild, untamed cry of distant beasts.
The Fang clan members stood in stunned silence, many still gripping whatever belongings they had carried with them from Coldwind City.
Fang Chen stepped forward first, already slipping into responsibility with quiet resolve.
“Everyone, listen carefully!” he called out, voice firm despite the fatigue dragging at his shoulders.
“We will begin rebuilding the clan once more now.
Gather by family groups, children and the elderly in the inner section, fighters and cultivators to the outer perimeter.” “Yes, Elder Chen!” He turned and nodded once to Fang Mei and Fang Yin.
They exchanged glances, understanding what needed to be done.
Fang Yin tapped her chin thoughtfully.
“Mount Skyhowl… if the central formation lines still exist, then we might be able to reactivate the Feng clan’s protection barrier, adjusted for us.” Her tone was calm and intelligent, but a faint smile tugged at her lips, she was excited, genuinely excited.
Fang Mei simply nods to that.
Meanwhile, far from the reorganizing Fang family, Fang Yuan and Xiao Pei stood at the mouth of a forest so dense it was like staring into the lungs of the mountain itself.
Massive trees towered upward like ancient guardians.
Spirit mist drifted low along the ground.
Strange red-eyed creatures stared from the shadows and disappeared before they could even be identified.
Xiao Pei rested the grade 5 spear on his shoulder.
“Brother Fang… just asking… when you say ‘meat,’ you don’t mean like… rabbits or deer, right?” Fang Yuan gave him a flat look.
Xiao Pei coughed.
“Right.
Dumb question.
I’ll keep quiet.” Fang Yuan released a slow breath as his divine sense swept outward, covering miles of forest in seconds.
“Two hundred meters ahead,” he said calmly.
“Peak-level Golden Core Beast.
It’s the Thunderclaw Silverback Gorilla.
Known for its tough defense and brute strength type.
It also has a fast regeneration.
Let’s go.” “P–Peak… Peak what?” Xiao Pei stammered, his hands trembling as he gripped the spear tighter.
“Brother Fang!” he shouted, voice cracking in panic but Fang Yuan had already dashed forward.
