Chapter 298: The Storm Beyond The Calm.
“Alden… are you here?”

Caera’s soft voice echoed through the desolate realm as Alden looked at his sister.

She looked the same as before. Her white hair clung softly to her forehead and her golden eyes were fixed on the rippling surface as if trying to see beyond it.

But something was different.

She looked nervous… and tired.

It had only been a month or two since they had last met and yet somehow she seemed to have aged more than he had.

Does time flow differently outside?

The thought crossed Alden’s mind, lingering for a moment, before he finally answered her call with a question of his own.

“Yes, I am here, Caera… but how are you here?”

From what he knew, there were restrictions that prevented those from other worlds from entering this one.

So how did she come here?

And why does she look like she is in a rush?

“I used bloodline magic to link our consciousness for a while but it won’t last long.”

“The world of Eryndor… it’s moving again.”

“It will vanish soon.”

Alden frowned.

What is she talking about?

How the hell could a world move?

A planet could shift through rotation or orbit but a world, one that encompassed an entire solar system… an entire galaxy and the very space Eryndor existed within, how could it move?

He couldn’t wrap his head around it.

“What do you mean?”

Caera’s voice came fast and sharp with urgency.

“The world exists across time-space due to some strange magic enveloping it,” she said, her words clear despite the rush. “Because of that, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint its physical location.”

“But that’s not important now because I finally connected with you.”

“I can pull your physical body into the outside world using the bloodline link… to where your true family is. Where me and grandpa are.”

She continued, her voice growing desperate.

“Just touch the rippling surface and channel your mana… that way, I can pull you out.”

Alden looked at the surface before him.

It had begun to tremble the moment she spoke, the ripples deepening as if responding to her words.

She can pull me to the outside world if I touch this?

Does that mean he wouldn’t have to worry about the Demon King destroying this world?

Or worry about the novel at all?

He could finally be free. Free… and perhaps even grow beyond what anyone in this world could ever dream of becoming.

He could exist beyond Jeremy’s schemes, beyond whatever fate he was trying to struggle so much against.

Countless yeses flooded his mind, overlapping, suffocating and urging him to reach out to touch the rippling surface.

But there was one no.

Just one smple… but impossibly heavy to ignore.

The connections he had made in this world.

Maybe all his problems would be solved but he didn’t want to run away.

He didn’t want to abandon his overly clingy friend… or the stubborn martial artist… or the dishonest tsundere girl. Or even the girl who loved him, annoyingly, for no reason at all.

Then there was Kyun too, the bird whose only family was Alden himself.

How could he bear to abandon them all, just to flee from his problems?

“I reject it,” he said, his voice firm. “I don’t want to run away from the family I made in this world.”

And in a way, he didn’t even know the true family she spoke of. He had known even Caera from barely one meeting.

“Please understand, Alden,” she pleaded. “You don’t know how dangerous that world is right now. Something is wrong with it… you could even die.”

Alden met her golden eyes, even knowing she couldn’t truly see him.

“I don’t fear death, Caera,” he said calmly. “I fear being weak enough to run away.”

“Please, Alden… I can’t bear to lose you again.” Her voice broke. “Just hear me out this once. I promise I will find a way to save your friends and family after you are here.”

Alden didn’t need some elaborate ability to understand how impossible that was.

If anyone could freely enter or leave this world, the immensely powerful beings beyond it wouldn’t have simply stayed away.

And Caera herself had said this world would soon vanish… and that finding it again would be nearly impossible.

A bitter smile touched his lips.

“I am sorry, Caera,” he said softly. “I just can’t.”

A sudden burst of blinding light erupted through the realm as Caera’s body began to glow gold.

“I can’t let you do that.”

The rippling surface started shaking violently and then shattered its stillness as countless hands erupted from it.

“No matter how much you hate me, I can’t let you suffer in a world destined to be destroyed.”

The hands latched onto Alden’s body, cold and relentless, dragging him toward the surface.

“Fuck.”

He cursed, straining with everything he had, trying to tear himself free but his mana wouldn’t respond.

And the more he resisted, the tighter their grip became, pulling him closer… inch by inch… into the rippling abyss.

Half of his body had already sunk into the dark surface when countless red status windows began flashing before his eyes, the familiar mechanical voice echoing relentlessly in his ears.

[THE WORLD’S WILL HAS DETECTED AN OUTSIDE UNAUTHORISED INTRUSION]

[THE FATE OF ▒▒▒▒▒ IS BEING SEVERED]

[ERROR]

[ERROR]

[ERROR]

[ERROR]

But then everything stopped.

The system windows vanished all at once and the mechanical voice falling silent as a different presence washed over him.

A humane voice echoed inside his mind.

And when the status window reappeared, it was no longer blue instead it was green.

[ALDEN… OH ALDEN… YOU CANNOT LEAVE THIS WORLD YET]

A green light erupted from his body as he was violently pulled out of the dark surface.

The hands vanished and the pressure disappeared.

[I HAVE YET TO MEET YOU.]

[AND YOU HAVEN’T REACHED THE ENDING I PLANNED FOR YOU YET.]

The presence stayed for just a moment longer.

[OOPS. THE WORLD’S WILL IS RESISTING AGAIN… SO SEE YOU LATER.]

The light flared once more… and then everything was gone.
