- Chapter 810 - 810 For me
810: For me?
810: For me?
In the time scheduled for the evening – Zenith finally reached the restaurant.
As she got down the cab, she checked the time on her watch and took a deep breath.
And just then, she received a call from her mother again.
Receiving which, she responded without even letting her mother speak. “Mom, you need to relax now.
I have reached here in time.
And today, I won’t be making any excuses.
I will meet him.” The lady on the other end of the call cleared her throat and quickly said, “I am not anxious.
I just heard your aunt praise him a lot.
And wanted you to see and check if he could really match what you are looking for.” “Mom,” Zenith’s brows tugged in a small frown.
‘I already told you that I agreed to come to this blind date, but don’t expect too much out of this arrangement.
I might not like him at all.
This is just the first date I am going on, and you already expect me to say yes to him?” “Why not?” Her mother spoke in a tone of reason.
“You find the very first guy attractive and good enough to spend the whole life with, then why not?
Zenith, be practical, you can’t get a handsome price charming from your dreamland coming for you.
So, rather than being delusional and waiting for the right one, be practical.” Zenith paused at that for a moment before humming.
“I got that, Mom.
I won’t say it for sure.
But I will try to see him from the right lens.” “Dear, I know I shouldn’t be forcing you like this, but any guy who is there, ready to accept your dreams and respect you, are worth trying.
Love is for later.
Women fall for men’s efforts.
Once you see him making those for you, you will start loving him anyway.
That’s how I started loving your father, and believe me, it won’t be any different for you.” What her mother was trying to explain to her, Zenith knew.
And she didn’t feel like getting forced into anything.
It was just that she wasn’t very sure if she was still very ready for it.
She decided to come to this date, agreed to it -but now that she was here, she didn’t know if she was doing it right. Was she even doing right?
Ryan’s words from the last night kept ringing in her ears, and he couldn’t help but feel like she was deliberately forcing herself into something that she wasn’t very sure of. “Zenith, you are still there?” Her mother’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she quickly blinked her eyes to compose herself back.
Clearing her throat a little, she replied, “Yes, Mom.
I heard you, and I promise I will think about it.
But right now, I think I should head inside the restaurant.
I am not sure if David has arrived or is still on his way.” “Oh yes,” her mother said from the other end.
“I shouldn’t hold you back with my talks when you actually have to save energy for later.
Go ahead and meet him with an open heart.
Try giving him the chance if he seems worth it.” Zenith didn’t speak anymore.
She simply hummed in response before hanging up the call.
Keeping her phone back in her bag, she paused for a second and whispered to herself. “Mom was saying right, Zenith.
You need to understand.
The man you have in your heart … it’s simply impossible with him.
Not even a dream could bring him to you.” She shook her head.
“So, it’s time to be realistic in life.” She took in a deep breath before staring up at the restaurant.
Trying to make her heart as determined as her mind, she finally took her steps to walk inside. However, just as her hand was about to reach for the door, another hand brushed against her to open the door before her. She at once pulled away and turned to look at the person with a slow frown between her brows.
However, the man who stood in front of her merely smiled. “I am sorry, I didn’t actually intend to make you uncomfortable.
I was just opening the door for you.” The man spoke, and there was something in his gaze that made Zenith’s frown deepen -not in infuriation, but in confusion. He looked at her like he knew her.
And even though he said his action wasn’t intentional, it felt like it was, not in the wrong way.
But as if it was for her. “For me?” she asked, not letting the tug between her brows ease.
“Sorry, I didn’t get you right.
What do you mean?” The man’s smile only deepened at her confusion.
He looked at her and then flicked his gaze towards the door before returning back to her to nod and say, “Yes, for you.” He reconfirmed.
“I was opening the door for you.
After all, it’s not nice to let your date open the door for herself when I am present there to do it for her.” Date!
And then suddenly, it struck Zenith, and she asked, “David?” And he laughed.
“Great!
You recognized me.
And here I almost was thinking of ways to make you recognise me -choosing between whether I should show you our chat history or it would be better to show you my legal ID.” Zenith’s lips subtly turned up, but she was feeling more embarrassed.
Scratching the corner of her brows, she said, “Ah -I am truly sorry.
I didn’t know it was you.
I haven’t seen your picture before and -” Before she could feel more wrong, David interrupted her, making it less awkward for her. “Of course, I can tell that.
But it’s fine, probably I should apply less filters to my image the next time.
Or else, it won’t be long before I turn stranger to even my parents.” Zenith stopped for a second to register what he meant, and when she did, she couldn’t help but laugh.
The nervousness or hesitation that she held earlier eased without her knowing. David watched her, and when she felt his gaze linger on her for a moment longer than needed, she stopped and tried to compose herself back.
“Thank you for trying to make it less awkward for me, but really, I am sorry.
I should have checked your picture before coming here.” “Oh, trust me, good that you didn’t check.
That picture isn’t my best one.” Zenith smiled again.
And seeing her like that, David finally gestured towards the forgotten door and said, “Shall we, then?” She nodded back to him.
Once again, he opened the door for her, seeing her walk in before following. Meanwhile, as they entered, they failed to notice that someone had been witnessing their entire exchange all this time. In the Range Rover, parked at a not very distant corner, Michael felt more confused when he felt the temperature in the car decrease all of a sudden.
He had been accompanying Ryan and was working on his laptop alongside when chills crept up his spine, and instinctively, he turned to check on his boss. Seeing him staring outside the window, he followed his line of sight, but when he checked, he found nothing.
Just an empty lane. “Sir, is there anything wrong?” he asked, noticing the clear grim expression on his boss. Ryan didn’t respond, but Michael saw his knuckles turning white, and he didn’t know what went wrong.
It was already very confusing why they were even here.
He didn’t know who they were waiting for, but they had been here in the car for more than an hour now.
And yet no one seemed to show up. He had wanted to ask Ryan about the people they were meeting so he could see if there were any arrangements that he needed to make, but seeing him now, he wasn’t very sure if he wanted to ask him that now. He waited for a few more minutes to pass, and then, slowly mustering the courage, he began.
“Sir, I was asking-” “Did you make the arrangements that I had asked you to make earlier in the afternoon?” Ryan cut in without letting him finish. Michael paused for a brief second, before replying, “Yes, sir.
I did that right then itself.
The whole restaurant is booked.” His gaze darted to look at the restaurant in front as he continued, “The restaurant has agreed and will not be accepting any guests.” “Call them and ask them to accept the one who walked in just now,” Ryan instructed, and his instruction was like that, only confusing Michael. “Sorry, sir?” Ryan turned to him and then repeated.
“I told you to call them and ask them to accept the guest who entered just now.
Do I need to repeat again?” Michael shook his head and pulled out his phone to do as he asked.
But he was so confused that he couldn’t understand anything at all.
