Chapter 414: An upgrade from a sickly Victorian child
Cass came out of the bathroom dressed in some of the softest, silkiest pajamas he’d ever worn. He just grabbed something that was on the top and when he looked at himself in the mirror in the bathroom, his cheeks flushed.
It was basically masculine lingerie.
It was silky, white and sheer. It hadn’t looked like it when he was grabbing something from the top drawer of his dresser. It had looked like solid, white pajamas. You could see his nipples through the top. If he hadn’t been wearing underwear, you could have seen his cock and balls easily. You could see the strong lines of the underwear he was wearing.
He should have just gone out in the towel.
Lucian, the snitch, could tell that Cass was embarrassed because there was a firm knock on the door.
“Cass? Is everything alright?” Cass jolted, grabbing onto the counter to look over at the door. He was caught between a rock and a hard place. Go out in this thin, floozy outfit and try to have a serious conversation, or ask Lucian to get him another outfit?
You know what? The likelihood that Lucian would bring him the same fucking outfit was too high. He should just go out in this instead of getting something worse. Cass shuddered at the mere thought that he could get something even worse than what he was wearing.
He hoped nothing worse than this was in the dresser. Sam had been here, so who knew? He didn’t think they would have female lingerie, plus, the lingerie of this era was different then the lingerie he was thinking of.
He hoped, at least. They had been surprised when Cass had introduced basic clothing concepts from his time. If he introduced sexy garter belts and lace to this world’s lingerie scene?
Cass would make even more of a killing then he’d ever need. Maybe he could introduce it to the fairies. Give them a way to conquer the world, and solve their low number problems. With the nursery tree idea.
“I’m…fine. Just thinking about my choices.” Cass told him with great hesitancy.
“Do you need help with those choices? Are you clothed?” Lucian asked. He sounded like he wanted to help, and Cass gave a dry laugh.
“Well, I think so.” Cass said, smirking to himself in the mirror. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath in, and then just centered himself. He had to go do this now. Otherwise, he was going to chicken out. He could feel it. “Don’t make fun of me. I just grabbed whatever in the dresser.” Cass called.
“Why would I ever make fun of you? Is it silly? A frilly thing that Edgar would wear to look like a fancy bird?” Lucian asked, making a jab at Edgar for the fun of it. Cass felt his lips twitch before he turned away from the mirror, cleared his throat and headed for the door. When he grabbed the door, he hesitated for a second before he opened it. His cheeks were already red before he even looked at Lucian.
“It’s not frilly.” Cass said and watched as Lucian’s funny little smirk shifted and his jaw dropped. He scanned Cass, taking in what he was wearing before he slammed his mouth shut and audibly gulped.
“Where did you get that?” He asked, his hand reaching out instinctively before Lucian grabbed his own wrist and yanked his hand back. He began to look around nervously, like he was worried others were going to see him. His goofy reaction had Cass’ lips curling up slightly.
“I don’t know. I told you, I just grabbed something from the dresser. It looked white when I grabbed it.” Cass told him. Lucian’s eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head and his eyes were shaking. They were moving between his reptilian gaze and his human gaze, something that Cass hadn’t seen before.
Did it happen when he was shocked? It certainly hadn’t happened when he was turned on.
Cass’ face flushed as he realised that he knew what his face looked like when he was turned on. Nervously, anxiously, Cass shifted on his feet.
“Can I get past you?” He asked and Lucian stumbled back, revealing Cass to the rest of the room. Cass was a little embarrassed to meet the other two men’s gaze, especially given the circumstances.
Edgar made a choking noise, while Lord Ridgewood went rigid. He looked like he was constipated. Cass didn’t take it personally. Anyone would freak out if Cass, an already pale man, wore an outfit that showed off his body when he was supposed to be having a serious conversation.
About their wife.
Who ran away with another woman.
He felt like a woman whose husband had ‘accidentally’ died in a tragic accident and showed up, all dramatic, with a feathery, sheer outfit. That was essentially what Cass was doing.
“I know I look ridiculous.” Cass said with a slightly bitter smile. Edgar’s gaze, which had been full of misery, glowed as he scanned Cass’ form.
“Ridiculous? You could never look ridiculous.” Well, if he was trying to suck up to him, he was starting right now. Cass didn’t even hate it all that much. Yet.
“Flattery won’t get you far, Edgar.” Cass told him and watched as Edgar gulped. He shifted on the couch, squeezing his knees tighter against his chest.
“I’m not flattering you just because. I think it suits you. You look…ethereal.” Edgar said, and Lucian snapped his fingers from beside Cass, making Cass jump a mile high.
“That’s the word I was looking for!” Lucian said before turning to Cass. “You look like you could float down the hall. All pretty and…uh, dainty?” He didn’t sound as sure about the second word, but Edgar nodded.
“That would be a good word to describe him.” Edgar said, glancing between Lucian and Cass.
“Why are your nipples showing?” Lord Ridgewood asked and Cass’ face flushed.
“I-I wasn’t trying to do that.” Cass said, blushing.
“Shut up about the nipples, Gideon. We don’t get them often. Mind your fucking business.” Lucian growled and Cass laughed at the ridiculousness of that statement.
“Don’t get to see them often? When does anyone get to see anyone’s nipples?” Cass asked, giving him a humour-filled glance. Lucian scanned Cass, his gaze hungry.
“Hopefully often, Sweetness. Very often.” Lucian’s voice made Cass’ heart rate accelerate.
“A-Anyway, we need to have a chat, don’t we?” Cass said, clearing his throat and trying to get serious. Edgar’s slightly brightened mood darkened and Cass made his way towards where Edgar was sitting on the couch. Lord Ridgewood was standing just to the side of the couch, near the wall. He practically looked like he was standing guard over Edgar.
As Cass got closer, Edgar let out a heavy, deep sigh and he released his knees and slid to the floor. Cass stuttered to a stop as Edgar bent, his hands touching the floor above his head and Cass felt a vaguely familiar feeling filling his chest as Edgar bent, kneeling before Cass.
“I’m a big, stupid, idiot. I’m undeserving of anything.” Edgar began and Cass stared, shocked that Edgar of all people would be doing this. Cass glanced at Lord Ridgewood, then glanced at Lucian, seeing if either of them put him up to this.
Lord Ridgewood did not seem phased by his behaviour, but Cass didn’t think that he had put Edgar up to this. Lucian looked vaguely pleased, but he didn’t look pleased enough in Cass’ opinion to be responsible for this.
“Edgar, you don’t-”
“I do.” Edgar cut him off. “I have to apologise.” Edgar wasn’t raising his head, speaking to the ground. “I was wrong. Even if I wanted to ask you questions, there were better ways to phrase it. I was wrong for how I said what I said and making you think that I was choosing Fiona over you. I would not. I do not have feelings for Fiona like that. I did not think that you influenced Fiona to leave us.” Edgar’s words were spilling out of his mouth.
Cass was sure that the feelings he was having inside of him had to be similar to how Edgar had felt when Lord Ridgewood did this to him at the doorway of the mansion.
“Edgar, stop.” Cass begged and Edgar just raised his head to look up at Cass.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I really didn’t. I never want to do that. I accept you for who you are, and yet I hurt you on the same day that we both came to that conclusion. I don’t-I don’t know what came over me. It was like something else was speaking through me. I know that sounds like an excuse, maybe it is, but I-” Cass’ heart chilled hearing those words coming out of Edgar’s mouth.
Not because he thought that Edgar was lying to him, but because Cass was intimately familiar with what it felt like to have his body manipulated without his consent. Edgar’s eyes were spilling over. The handsome, blonde man with his pretty, watery blue eyes staring up at him. His frilly top, as Lucian had suggested, was ruffled. So at the very least, he had been harassed a little bit.
“Did you feel like your mouth was moving without your control?” Cass asked softly, and Edgar’s word vomit stopped, before Cass watched something cross Edgar’s gaze. Confusion, uncertainty, and a dawning horror.
“A little bit.” He admitted and Cass gave a soft sigh.
“It’s okay, Edgar. I believe you.” Cass said, part of his anger disappearing as relief crossed Edgar’s face. Did Cass fully believe him? No. Edgar was a spectacular actor compared to the other two. He could lie in a way that the others wouldn’t be able to. However, there was such a raw fear and confusion in his gaze when he met Cass’ that Cass would have to be a monster to not believe him.
While Cass was a monster in some ways, he knew what pure desperation looked like.
“Get up off the floor, Edgar. I’m not going to punish you until after I’ve spoken to the gods.” Cass said and Edgar slowly sat up.
“I’ll accept anything.” Edgar agreed readily and Cass felt a dangerous smile touch his lips.
“You should know better than to say that to me.” Cass said and watched as Edgar’s gaze widened, he gulped, and Cass felt his gaze scan Cass’ body. His eyes returned to Cass’ after a moment.
“I mean it. I’ll accept anything you want me to do.” He sounded more firm in his words at this point, and Cass felt his eyes widen. Lucian let out a huff from beside Cass.
“You’re a dirty little mage.” Lucian muttered and both Cass and Edgar flushed. Without looking, Cass reached out and smacked Lucian’s stomach.
“You’re the one making this dirty.” Cass accused, but knew, secretly, that was not the case. Cass scanned Edgar from where he was on his knees. Cass hadn’t even considered those kinds of things as a punishment.
Cass gulped. He was going to blame where his thoughts were going on the demon king’s blood in his veins.
