Chapter 253: Date tomorrow
Alex collapsed on his bed after using Void walk to enter his apartment without anyone noticing. He felt so exhausted that he just wanted to take a nap, he had never been this tired since he woke up as Alex last year.
Although he had managed to escape exposing himself and all he did at the university was answer some personal questions, Alex felt like he had been walking on a thin line the entire time!
What made it more suffocating was that most of the trickiest questions that he had answered were asked by the instructors who were present at the lecture, Alex had to be very careful with answering to avoid getting caught.
Thankfully, Mr Chen wasn’t someone that anyone could freely interrogate. So when he refused to answer some of their questions, they didn’t dare to make a fuss.
But since it was suspicious to reject all the questions, Alex had no other choice but to bite some bullets. He had told a great deal of lies at the hall that he was already forgetting some.
“Sigh, that was stressful. Better think of something else to teach tomorrow, or should I cancel the next lectures and schedule them for next time?”
“No, that won’t do. I now have one week leave for the reward of coming in first place. I won’t have the chance to fulfill my duties as an honorary instructor if this week passes.”
Alex mumbled to himself, feeling drained.
He used his mana to peek into his storage ring and saw the loads of cash inside. Alex didn’t know how much a single student had to pay to attend his class but he had been giving five million Zen after just answering some questions from the students and instructors, he honestly found this ridiculous.
Were instructors so rich? Earning five million Zen just for a single class?
Alex shook his head and decided to take a nap, he would think of what to do next after waking up.
…
The next day, Alex once again stood in a hall filled with students and instructors of the Brandvel Magic University. The number of people present in the hall today didn’t drop a bit compared to the previous day.
Alex wasn’t as nervous as he was previously because he had already decided on what to teach today. Since there wasn’t a specific class or topic requirement, he could teach whatever he wanted.
So, Alex started to talk about outer space. Yes, he was teaching the students and instructors of the Magic University about the space outside their planet.
Alex was literally spitting out things that he knew from his past life and mixing a bit of ideas he had gotten from reading fantasy stories.
This topic deeply fascinated everyone present. Although it wasn’t useful to their growth as mages, it was valuable knowledge from a top expert and besides, learning about the wide space outside their planet was very interesting.
After all, the space outside Edritcho was yet to be explored. So they all listened to Mr Chen like children listening to bed time stories.
Alex was very satisfied after seeing how attentive and interested they were in his teaching. After talking for a bit, he gave room for questions.
Later that day, Alex was invited to Vice Dean Hannah’s office after he was done with his class.
“Your insight about the space outside our planet is truly remarkable, Mr Chen. I’m truly interested in knowing more.” Vice Dean Hannah praised.
Although there were a lot of powerful mages on the planet, not a single one of them had managed to go outside the planet no matter how hard they tried. There was a powerful force outside the planet that was keeping everything inside, preventing whatever wanted to leave from escaping.
So having a chance to learn about outer space was something that old mages like the vice dean were deeply interested in. What’s more, she wanted to know how Mr Chen got his knowledge about outer space but it would be too rude for her to ask.
Alex told her that if she was so interested, she could attend his last class tomorrow since he was planning to continue teaching about the space outside the planet.
After promising to attend his next class, she handed Alex’s payment to him before the latter disappeared.
…
The next day was Mr Chen’s last class before another three months. The hall was just as filled as the previous day and some people could even be seen standing outside the hall, trying to listen to what was going on inside.
Everyone already knew of Mr Chen teaching about the space outside the planet and more people were eager to know more.
This time, Vice Dean Hannah didn’t stay outside and actually took a front seat in the class. Similarly, the instructors were occupying front seats.
Alex didn’t mind this and started talking from where he stopped yesterday. He talked about the stars and how many other planets were out there, he also talked about how this was just a single galaxy and there were countless others in the universe.
He was very disruptive with his teaching and had many of the students and instructors falling into near-trance states as they imagined the things that Mr Chen said.
After almost an hour of talking about information from his past life, Alex was done teaching and the class was dismissed.
“Mr Chen, I’ve truly gained a lot from listening to your teaching. Please, if you feel like holding more classes, we’ll be sure to make arrangements for you.” Vice Dean Hannah said after Alex followed her to her office for his payment.
“Hmm,” Alex nodded and said nothing. He knew already that he couldn’t host another class until after the next assessment, so he stayed quiet.
After leaving the university, Alex went back to his apartment and brought out his phone. He sent a message to Ellie, telling her that he was back from Balon City; he said that he had just arrived at the capital and decided to message her first.
Ellie was surprised that he had returned so quickly but was glad that he did since he would be able to return to classes sooner. She gave Alex a quick update on what had happened while he was away.
It was obviously about Mr Chen’s classes. Since Mr Chen had a good impression of Alex, she felt that Alex could have used this opportunity to meet Mr Chen and maybe receive one or two pointers from him.
Alas, Alex was away when Mr Chen came.
Alex chuckled as he typed back his response.
…..
“Hehe, too bad. But it’s fine, I’ll be sure to stay next time. Anyways, will you be free tomorrow?”
…..
Ellie’s response came shortly after, she said that she would be free and if Alex needed help with anything.
Alex had to remind her that it was about the date that they talked about.
…
“I see, you want to go tomorrow? Fine then, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow and treat you to a meal as promised.” Ellie’s message read.
Alex “…”
He quickly typed back, saying that he was talking about a proper date and he would be the one to come get her. He didn’t forget to say that he already found a place for the date too.
Ellie’s response took some time to arrive this time but she eventually replied with an “okay”.
“All right, see you tomorrow then.”
