Chapter 248: Not trustworthy
Hell fairy and her companions watched in horror as the dark stars in the air formed into hundreds of star patterns that combined into star constellations before forming hundreds of links while casting an oppressive pressure on the surrounding.

The hundred links stretched for kilometres and cast an even darker shadow than what the night sky was already casting on the earth.

It didn’t end there as ferocious black lightning rushed out from the one hundred links and fused into Mr Chen’s body” turning him into a literal being of lightning just before the pagoda could crash into him.

After completing his transformation, Mr Chen, who now looked like he was completely made up of lightning, threw out a punch at the rapidly approaching pagoda.

A burst of black lightning shot out of his fist and met with the roof of the pagoda.

BAM!

The sound of the collision was ear-splitting after the lightning burst crashed into the pagoda, sending a powerful shockwave sweeping in every direction and causing the air to roar.

The pagoda was sent flying back by the black lightning and the three mages found themselves crashing around within the pagoda. Luckily, the pagoda’s mechanism prevented them from flying out.

The pagoda finally stabilised after flying for almost two hundred meters. Hell fairy felt dizzy, her two companions were in similar situations. The three of them barely made it up to their feet when they felt a violent aura approaching them.

Looking up, their eyes trembled at the sight of the lightning being that Mr Chen had transformed to, he was currently floating before them, a level above the pagoda itself.

“H-h-he is a Saint!”

The only Grand Archmage in the group gasped in a low voice; her voice was filled with an aura that threatened to materialise if possible.

Hell fairy and the other Sage mage didn’t speak, they were also staring at Mr Chen with fear in their eyes, regretting why they had come here alone instead of reporting him to their higher-ups after he easily killed a red-robe of the Dark Union without bringing the entire Balon City to the ground during their battle.

But most importantly, their brains were frantically thinking of how they could escape this situation.

They already used all of their space-shifting and teleportation magic items when fleeing from Balon City just to get away from their monsters for fear that he might change his mind.

Who would have thought that he would actually come after them and even more shocking, catch up to them.

But now that they had verified that Mr Chen was a Saint rank mage, it wasn’t too shocking that he caught up with them.

While Hell Fairy and her companion were still thinking of how to get away, Alex was having his own thoughts.

He was surprised that the pagoda was able to withstand that punch. After all, he had used more than 80% of his strength in that punch.

He had read that the pagoda was incredibly sturdy and near impossible to destroy, but it was still surprising that the pagoda was able to take that hit without any scratches.

It looked completely fine! Now Alex didn’t want to destroy it anymore just to get to those three, he wanted to take it for himself.

But since it was a soul-bound magic item, he would have to kill the current owner or make them give it up.

‘Killing her is out of the question, I’ll have to try convincing her to hand it to me by herself.’ Alex thought to himself as his eyes focused on the three figures inside the pagoda.

‘Killing them would have been easy if they could just come out, sigh.’

“How about we make a deal?” Alex suddenly said, floating down to the level of the floor where the three mages were hiding.

Hell fairy, and the other two frowned upon hearing this. They hadn’t met Mr Chen for long but already had an impression of him.

He wasn’t trustworthy!

But did they have any other choice considering the situation that they were in?

“What is the deal about?” Hell fairy asked with a guarded tone.

“I do have a grudge against the Dark Union and swore to kill every one of its members that I come across, but I can let you go on a few conditions.

First, you’ll give me this treasure of yours, sever your connection with it so I can form a new ownership.” Alex stated while glancing at the floors of the pagoda.

“Secondly, you’ll tell me the ten hideouts of the Dark Union in this country. And lastly, I’ll only allow two of you to leave; one of you has to die tonight as punishment for coming here.” Alex added.

He obviously knew that the three would not believe him easily if he said he would just let the three of them go after handing over the pagoda, so he had to make the terms a bit more extreme just to sound more believable.

And it worked.

After hearing Mr Chen’s terms, the eyes of the three people in the pagoda shrank and their bodies became stiff. Hell fairy and the other Sage simultaneously glanced at the only Grand Archmage in the group.

The eyes of the woman trembled seeing how her companions were staring at her, her legs went weak and she dropped to the ground; she could already tell that they were thinking of offering her as the punishment.

“N-no, please don’t do this!” She cried out, scared for her life.

The male Sage closed his eyes, already swallowed by guilt of what he was about to do.

But it couldn’t be helped, he was a high-ranking member of the Dark Union, so what if he needed to sacrifice a colleague?

Alex wasn’t just going to stay there and let them think.

“Answer quickly before I change my mind,” Alex said to put more pressure on them, giving them less time to think would push them to answer with a less smart response.

The male Sage was about to speak when Hell fairy swiftly covered his mouth with her palm.

The man turned and glared at her, his eyes screaming.

‘What are you doing, do you want him to kill us all?!’

“Wait, think about it. Did he really chase us all the way here just to get some information and treasure from us? If that was the case, why didn’t it do that while we were still in the city?

He obviously didn’t intend to let us go from the very start and only allowed us to leave because he didn’t want our clash to affect the city.” Hell fairy explained in a hushed tone.

The man’s eyes widened after hearing this, he did a quick thinking and realized that Hell fairy’s words made sense.

“Then, he’s just trying to get us to come out of the pagoda and kill us!” The man said after Hell fairy stopped covering his mouth.

“Indeed, he must know about the functions of the pagoda and knows not to approach carelessly. Don’t worry, although we can’t leave, the pagoda is indestructible, he won’t be able to touch us easily.” Hell fairy stated.

Alex “…”

Why did this woman have to be so smart?!
