Chapter 239: Lightning heart
Alex had picked this spell because of the description and because of the amount of exp points he had currently. He had less than 600k exp points and amongst all of the spells within this price range, this spell seemed to have the most potential.

Thus the reason Alex had decided to craft it. He gave the command for the system to commence the final phase of the crafting, and almost all of his exp vanished instantly. While the spell was now added to his arsenal, he could now cast it whenever he wanted.

Alex didn’t hesitate to try it out, black stars appeared in the sky around him the next moment and quickly formed into a spectacular scene of a hundred Links that blocked half of the sky while the oppressive aura of the lightning element enveloped the whole place.

“Lightning heart,” Alex mumbled softly.

The next moment, the star Links in the air released a powerful wave of energy that rushed into Alex’s body and went directly for his heart. Alex didn’t try to stop the energy as it didn’t feel dangerous.

They poured into Alex’s heart like mist being absorbed by a black hole, at the same time, Alex’s body began to change.

Starting from his heart, veins, tissues, and even blood, everything transformed into black lightning.

By the time ten seconds passed, Alex’s body had completely transformed into black lightning; including his robe and mask!

He looked like a humanoid elemental spirit!

Alex raised his arms to look, feeling amazed.

“So this is what it’s like to be an elemental being,” Alex mumbled to himself in awe. He could feel his connection with the lightning element stronger than when he was in his original form.

It was as if he were lightning itself and could do whatever he wished.

That wasn’t the only thing that Alex felt, though; there was a much stronger feeling coming from within his soul sea.

It was his mana being drained rapidly!

‘No wonder the description said that this spell consumed a lot of mana to maintain and the duration stated had been two hours. Indeed, with the rate at which my mana is being drained, I would be empty within two hours.’ Alex thought to himself in shock after peeking into his soul sea.

One had to understand how massive the soul sea of a Saint rank mage was, it was dozens of times bigger than Brandvel City! Yet, for a spell to completely drain it under 2 hours, even the space sword didn’t consume so much mana.

But this would only be the case for normal Saint rank mages, Alex wasn’t a normal Saint rank mage.

He had the system and the system’s skills!

Immediately after Alex’s mana started draining rapidly, his skill “mana regeneration” kicked in and started to regenerate mana inside Alex’s soul sea at a speed that didn’t lose to the rate at which his mana was being drained.

And since this skill didn’t have any cooldown, Alex could keep using it and constantly generate mana for himself. This way, he could keep using Lightning Heart for as long as he wished without running out of mana!

While in this form, Alex would be immune to most physical attacks as they would pass through him or be destroyed upon touching him.

He decided to do a few test runs after spending some time admiring his lightning body.

Alex stretched out one of his hands and several lightning bolts shot out into the distance.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of thunderous explosions rang out in the distance as the lightning bolts exploded after touching the ground, rising huge clouds of dust.

It was a mind-blowing view.

Alex didn’t stop there; he continued to use whatever form of lightning he could think of. After almost an hour of testing, Alex realised something.

With lightning heart, he could use all of his lightning spells with just a thought and didn’t need to form any star pattern or constellation!

The spells would just fly out at his will!

This included lightning charge as well, he could travel as fast as lightning just by thinking of it.

After some time, Alex ended the spell and returned to his human form. He was very satisfied with his new spell and couldn’t wait to test it on a powerful enemy.

It was already getting late but since he didn’t live in the university dorm anymore, Alex wasn’t in a hurry to return and come keep farming exp points for as long as he liked.

This was the major reason why he wanted to live off campus.

And resumed storing the corpses of the Deepborn ash worms and planned to continue farming exp afterwards. He looked forward to his third Saint rank spell; two weren’t enough to guarantee his victory, even though they were powerful.

Besides, the price for Saint rank spells wasn’t all the same; it was obvious that the more exp points a spell cost, the stronger it was.

Just like space sword and lightning heart, while both were insanely strong spells, Alex had to admit that lightning heart would be more useful in certain situations, which was why it cost more than space sword.

Therefore, Alex had decided to farm a massive amount of exp points before crafting his third Saint rank spell.

He planned to store up to a million or two million exp points!

Soon, Alex was done storing all of the corpses and resumed farming exp points. This valley was incredibly vast and there were still lots of Deepborn ash worms underground, enough for him to farm for two days straight!

Time passed swiftly, and it was soon the next day. Alex had ended up farming until morning.

Although the sun wasn’t up yet, Alex decided to stop killing magic beasts and return to Brandvel City. Returning would take him some time, and he needed to head to the Union Core Centre first before going to the Magic University afterwards.

Alex summoned his system profile and took a look.

He didn’t feel tired, he just felt like doing it after working hard all night.

The next moment, his eyes flashed with silver white light as stars rapidly formed around him.

“Blink,”

Alex vanished into silver white particles.

Some time later, Alex arrived at Brandvel City and made his way to the Union Core Centre first to sell the corpses of the magic beasts he had returned with.

He didn’t waste time there and soon left after receiving another Union card with a few billion Zen stored inside. Alex returned to his apartment and washed up before changing into his uniform, after which he rode in the direction of the Magic University on his magic scooter.
