Chapter 238: Second Saint rank spell.
“Space sword,” Alex mumbled softly.

The next moment, the hundreds of star Links released a blinding silver white light that shot down before condensing into the single-edged blade of the sword and the sleek black hilt, which then hovered in front of Alex.

Just like the last time, the blade of the sword was covered in cracks as if a million broken fragments of mirrors had been strung together to form the entire blade.

Alex stared at the space sword with amazement hidden behind his mask. If he wasn’t mistaken, this was his second time using the space sword since he created it. The first time, he had created a giant canyon by accident because he didn’t understand the extent of the sword’s powers yet.

Although he still didn’t know all that the sword was capable of yet, at least he knew not to casually swing it around unless he wanted to create more canyons or destroy the place.

Alex stretched out his right hand and made the space sword float over, he gently grabbed the hilt and felt his fingers around it.

His eyes traced the white energy rising from the blade like mist that disappeared immediately after they moved a few inches away from the sword.

After staring deeply at the sword for a bit, an idea came to Alex’s mind.

Since he could control the sword with his mind and the blade looked like fragments of multiple pieces, what if…?

The next second, half of the sword in Alex’s hand exploded into thousands of small shiny fragments that floated in the air around him.

The length of the sword was directly reduced to half while the other half scattered across the air.

Alex “…”

‘It worked!’ he cheered inwardly, feeling excited.

What Alex wanted to try was whether he could separate the blade of the sword into the tiny fragments that seemed to make it up and control them just like how he controlled the sword as a whole.

To his surprise, it actually worked!

Alex held the rest of the sword while he used his mind to control the thousands of fragments in the sky around him. He made them move around him like a school of fish swimming in water, it was a beautiful sight to behold.

The sword fragments flew around Alex, shot out in different directions before coming back, and took different forms around him. Thanks to him being a Saint rank mage, Alex was able to control each fragment separately and make them carry out different actions without losing control of the others.

“Now that’s fascinating!” Alex said with a big smile behind his mask.

Next, his attention went to the countless magic beasts under the ground. Alex had long sensed them and could easily tell their exact locations.

Although Alex didn’t know the type of magic beasts that they were, he could tell that they were pretty large, and the fact that not a single one had come out since he arrived meant that they were creatures who only ambushed their prey once it was too late for them to retreat.

“Since you don’t want to come out, how about I bring you out then?” Alex mumbled with a grin on his face.

Right after saying this, the thousands of sword fragments around him shot out and flew towards the ground before disappearing without a trace or sound.

Some seconds later, ear-piercing shrieks rang across the place as the ground trembled fiercely as if an earthquake was about to happen.

The ground split open in several places and dust shot into the air. Moments after the bizarre sight, the ground exploded in thousands of places as large, worm-like creatures flew into the air, heading towards Alex.

If one looked closely, these creatures weren’t flying but were being dragged instead. Green blood flowed from their heads and they didn’t make any movement.

After they arrived in front of Alex, a shiny fragment would fly out of their head and return to Alex’s side while the corpse of the magic beasts landed on the ground in front of Alex.

It was the sword fragments! After disappearing into the ground, Alex has used them to locate the magic beasts under the ground and then penetrated their brains, killing them instantly before using the fragments to drag them out of the ground.

At the same time, notifications appeared in front of Alex’s eyes that he had killed a magic beast and gained 10 exp points.

Alex had killed over seven thousand magic beasts with this single attack alone and had gotten over 70k exp points!

This was just how powerful a Saint rank spell was, it had brought more than he would have gained by casting a hundred Archmage rank spells!

He proceeded to store the corpses of the magic beasts inside his space pocket.

Alex didn’t need the help of the all-knowing mask to know what type of magic beast these worm creatures were because he had already learned of them at the Magic University.

Short necks, grey, round, and fat bodies that helped them blend into their surroundings perfectly, and heads that looked like metal.

They were Deepborn ash worms!

Alex stared at the thousands of corpses he was storing in his space pocket; many of them were at the common rank and mutated beast rank, while the rest were at the transformed beast rank. Only a handful were at the calamity rank, yet, even those at the calamity rank were unable to stop the fragments that had attacked them.

It was a clean kill!

While he was still storing, a notification appeared in front of him that made him stop what he was doing.

….

[Ding! Crafting complete!]

….

The system had finished crafting, his spell was ready!

Alex instantly postponed storing the corpses of the magic beasts and opened the suggestions that the system had provided.

….

……..

[Lightning…

…

The system had created a long list of available Saint rank spells for Alex. The more he read, the more stunned and amazed he was by the abilities these spells possessed.

Not just that, the cost for these spells shocked him too. He originally thought that he would be able to craft any Saint rank spell for just 500k exp points, but there were currently a handful of spells here that cost a million exp points!

In the end, Alex didn’t want to postpone crafting his second spell. He decided that he would craft one right now and just farm till a million exp points next time before he tried crafting again.

As for the spell that he chose to craft.

[Lightning heart: Allows the caster to turn into an elemental being for a duration of time and can use lightning to the best of their imagination. Consumes a lot of mana to maintain.
