Chapter 227: Passed out during training
The people who were in Alex’s room were none other than Eric and Ellie. The kid had a worried look on his face as he sat on the edge of Alex’s bed while Ellie stood in the middle of the room.

Alex had a pooker face, confused as to what these two were doing here; how did they get into his room in the first place!

He scratched his head, there was a more pressing matter now. Ellie was now aware that he had left his room when students were supposed to stay inside once curfew was passed.

It wouldn’t have been too much trouble if it was just Eric, but with an instructor involved, Alex had to think of a good excuse.

After some seconds of cracking his brain, an idea came to his mind. He went outside the university and used Void Walk again but this time, the exit was outside the dorm building.

Alex took off his mask and robe before appearing outside the dorm building and making his way to his room.

His footsteps were heard as he got closer to the room. Upon entering, he revealed a shocked expression to see that his door was open and after seeing Eric and Ellie, he looked started.

“What are you doing here? How did you get in?!” Alex fired his questions first, playing the part to be shocked flawlessly.

“We broke the door,” Ellie said calmly as she pointed at Alex’s door, her eyes staring at him with sharpness.

“Alex, we’ve been looking for you!” Eric exclaimed as he jumped at Alex, his voice filled with emotions.

He tried hugging Alex but Alex dodged him, Eric didn’t mind and said that he had been worried and had been looking for Alex with the help of their instructor, Ellie.

“But did you have to break my door? How did you even know I wasn’t in my room?” Alex asked in a whisper.

“You should have greater concerns at the moment,” Ellie’s voice came from behind them. The two boys stopped talking and turned to look at her, Ellie was staring at Alex with stern eyes that made Alex gulp loudly.

He was aware that instructors could be very strict with their favourite students, he hoped this wasn’t the case.

“Eric, you can go to your room now.” Ellie said, her gaze still fixed on Alex’s face.

Alex wore a nervous expression, he wasn’t actually nervous and just wanted to look believable when he told his story.

“Ok ma’am,” Eric said and then turned to Alex. “It’s good that you’re back bro, see you tomorrow!” He left after saying that.

It was Alex and Ellie alone in the room, Ellie spoke up first.

“What’s the time for curfew,” she asked.

Alex responded with the answer, students were allowed to be outside their room once it was past nine in the evening.

“Eric noticed that he hadn’t seen you since you finished your exam in the morning, you didn’t even come out for lunch or dinner. He got worried and came to check up on you, only to notice that there wasn’t anyone in your room after scanning the room with his mana.

He came to me after searching for you for hours, I was about to inform Julius that you have disappeared. Do you know what that means?” Ellie asked in a calm tone but her calmness felt dangerous, like a wife who was about to lash at her stubborn husband.

“Am I in trouble?” Alex asked softly, sounding nervous.

Ellie’s eyebrows twitched upon hearing Alex’s question, he dared to ask if he was in trouble after breaking the rules?!

Before she could speak, Alex started to explain why he had gone missing for hours and they hadn’t been able to find him.

He said that he had gone to the training area after reading for some time and wanted to stretch, but he had overdone himself and had passed out

When he woke up, it was already very late.

That was why he wasn’t in his room all this time.

Ellie “…”

This dude expected her to believe this story?!

But even after she kept staring at him for minutes, Alex’s expression didn’t change and he didn’t say anything else.

This meant that he was telling the truth.

Ellie still found this outrageous, she had seen Alex’s performance during the tournament at Balon City, so how did he pass out during training?

After some time, she sighed and facepalmed. It couldn’t be helped since they didn’t check everywhere in the training area so she couldn’t tell if Alex was telling the truth or not.

“You’re lucky that Eric was the one who noticed your absence and had reported to me, you would have been in serious trouble if it were someone else. You better not let this repeat itself again!” Ellie scolded, her hands on her waist and her chest bouncing gently.

Only now did Alex notice that she was actually in loose clothing, she obviously wasn’t planning on coming out of her room this evening.

“So I’m not in trouble?” Alex asked.

Ellie “…”

‘How dense is this guy?’ she paused her lips and walked toward Alex.

Smack!

She smacked Alex on the head before walking past him.

“I’ll let this slide this time. If it happens again, I’ll deduct from your exam score.” She said.

Alex rubbed his head, he didn’t dodge her on purpose and let her hit to land on him.

“That’s for caring about me,” he voiced out as she watched Ellie leave the room.

Ellie froze after hearing Alex’s words, she blushed slightly and didn’t turn around.

“Someone will come to fix your door tomorrow, go to sleep and prepare for your next exam; unless you don’t want to get a good ranking.” She said and resumed walking.

Alex smiled and didn’t say anything else. After she left, Alex went to close his door.

The lock was broken but he could still close it, he didn’t have to worry about anyone storming into his room since he was in the university’s dorm but Alex had already decided to get a place outside the university ground once the assessment was over.

…

Morning came quickly and Alex got ready for today’s exam. He had two papers today, they were Basic Formation Knowledge and spell structure.

After going outside, Alex found Eric waiting for him outside. The boy waved with a smile after seeing Alex, he waited for Alex to come close before speaking.

“Good morning, the instructor didn’t punish you, right? I’m very sorry I told her, I was just worried that something might have happened to you.” Eric explained with a sorry expression.

Alex smiled inwardly, he said that he wasn’t punished and that he didn’t mind what Eric did. The kid was just worried that his friend had gone missing, he didn’t blame him.

The both of them brought out their magic Scooters and rode to the lecture building together.

Eric had a magic scooter as well.

After arriving at the building, they separated and went to their respective halls for their first exams.

Alex arrived at the hall for Basic Formation Knowledge class, other students who took the same class arrived soon after.

After some time, instructor Henry came and the exam began.

Of course, attendance was taken first. Instructor Henry passed out the papers for the exam.

The exam for Basic Formation Knowledge was for the students to write down 300 runes and symbols in the correct order, they had two hours.

After attending formation classes for three months, the students had learned over a thousand basic formation languages. But for the current Alex, 300 runes and symbols weren’t a problem anymore.

He started writing after receiving his paper. After twenty minutes, Alex was done writing the 300 runes and symbols.

He used another five minutes to cross-check and after confirming that everything was correct, he stood up to hand in his paper.

Unlike the General knowledge on Mana exam where Eric has matched Alex’s speed of answering questions, no one was able to match up to Alex’s speed in the formation exam.

Instructor Henry was stunned to see that someone had finished in under thirty minutes, he asked Alex if he was sure he wanted to submit his paper; there was still over an hour left after all.

But Alex said that he was sure of his answers and wanted to hand his paper over.

Instructor Henry didn’t force him and took the paper while Alex walked out. He took a glance at the paper and a surprised look appeared on his face.

“Impressive,” Instructor Henry mumbled to himself.

Alex waited for a few hours before the next exam started, it was instructor Bree’s exam; spell structure.

Alex and other students with the space element arrived at the lecture hall for space spell structure class and took their seats.

The petite instructor Bree came in shortly after and the exam started.

Alex stared at the single question on the paper.

Construct a star pattern and explain what the effect of the spell would be, also state how it should be positioned.

The question literally meant that they should craft an Adept rank spell for the space element but only in theory.
