Chapter 225: Three-months assesment
Alex had appeared above the beast so fast that even Maria and vice Dean Hannah were unable to see his movements clearly. He had then proceeded to stomp a hole through the beast’s head, cracking its skull and killing it on the spot.

Alex received a notification from the system that he had gotten 10 exp points from killing a magic beast.

The surrounding mages were stunned but didn’t react to this. Since Mr Chen had landed the final blow, these two corpses now naturally belonged to him.

Of course, this included what the beasts were fighting over.

Laying in a puddle of magma was a fire essence stone. It was most likely what the gorrila came to collect and what the fire elemental spirit was protecting.

Since the three items now belonged to Mr Chen, no one dared to raise an argument. Instead, they approached Mr Chen with the intention of buying the three items if he didn’t have any use for them.

Maria’s eyes went bright with interest after Mr Chen agreed to sell the three items. She ended up buying the corpse of the elemental spirit and the fire essence stone at the price of 70 billion Zen.

The fire essence stone had fetched 20 billion Zen while the corpse of the elemental spirit cost 50 billion Zen.

The value of the elemental spirit had dropped since it was now a corpse.

Since no one wanted to compete with her for the items, Alex didn’t know if the price of the items could have gone higher or not.

He didn’t really mind, 70 billion Zen was a lot and Alex was willing to sell the two items for that amount.

As for the corpse of the gorrila, it was purchased by a man who was at the Elder Mage rank and introduced himself as Klen Dotslov.

Alex had sold the corpse of the gorrila for 20 billion Zen, it was bought at a cheaper price than the corpse of the elemental spirit because its value was considered less and no one was willing to pay more.

In total, Alex had gotten 90 billion Zen from the three items. For his payment, he had asked Klen to hand over the money for the gorrila to the Union Core Center, Maria would then hand everything to him in a Union card.

Maria had no issues with this and happily agreed. They then took their items and everyone left the scene.

Alex arrived at Brandvel City first and went to wait for Maria and the others to come back.

Some time later, Maria and the four elders returned. His payment was quickly arranged and a Union card was handed over to Alex.

He left for Brandvel Magic University after receiving his payment.

Time went by quickly as days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. In a blink of an eye, it has been months since Alex came to the capital and started studying at Brandvel Magic University.

Nothing special had happened during the past months and everyone had been living peacefully.

It was Alex’s birthday a week ago and he finally turned 19, his family had called to wish him a happy birthday and even sent a birthday present all the way from Balon City to Alex in the university.

It was a Grade 4 mana core that cost over 800 million Zen. The family’s shop had been doing very well during the past months so they were able to afford this without touching the money that Mr Chen had given them.

Although Alex couldn’t use mana cores, he was grateful for the gift his family had sent.

Another thing that had happened during the past months was that the residents of Brandvel capital City had noticed the drastic decrease of magic beasts around the City, it was as if something was killing them relentlessly.

Some members of the Union Core Center already knew what the reason for this was, it was because someone was hunting a large number of magic beasts everyday.

The culprit was none other than Mr Chen! Every night, Mr Chen would come to the Union Core Center to sell thousands of magic beast corpses and mana cores; he had been doing this almost every day for the past three months!

Alex had gone back to his killing spree as he resumed farming exp so that he could craft more Saint rank spells. He didn’t know when next a Void knight would appear or how many he would face, it was best to be prepared and the best way to prepare was to have many powerful spells at his disposal!

While farming exp, Alex had realized that the population of magic beasts around Brandvel City was incredibly massive. It was to the point that if he kept farming exp freely without stop, 24 hours everyday, he could go for a whole year without putting Brandvel City in the same situation as Balon City.

There were hundreds of millions of magic beasts roaming outside the City, of course, they weren’t too close to the city but they were within the reach of Alex and the explorers in Brandvel City.

So, even though the rapid decrease of magic beasts had been noticed, it wasn’t at a critical point yet; the people were just concerned about what was making the magic beasts to disappear.

At present, it was the last week of the third month since the students started studying in Brandvel Magic University; it was time for their assessment!

The timetable for assessment had already been announced to the students, each day of the week only had exams for two classes. This summed up the ten classes into the five learning days of the week, results will be announced on Monday next week.

For today, the two classes for assessment were General knowledge on Mana and Basic crafting knowledge classes.

So Alex only had one exam to write today.

He quickly got ready and made his way to the lecture section.

Alex had also purchased a magic scooter so he didn’t have to walk anymore and could get to place much faster.

The magic scooter wasn’t too flashy and wouldn’t attract too much attention, it was owned by many other students too.

Alex arrived at the lecture building for first year students and kept his storage magic scooter inside his storage ring before heading for the lecture hall where the exam would be taking place.

He met Eric on his way to the hall, the boy had actually caught up to him and called for Alex to wait for him. He complained that he had gone to find Alex in his dorm room so that they could come together but Alex had already left without him.

“You should have woken up earlier,” was all Alex said.

Two of them walked to the hall together and talked along the way, it was mostly Eric asking how prepared Alex was for the exam.

They arrived at the lecture hall some time later and went to sit down, some students were already present while more were still coming in.

After five more minutes passed, all the students had arrived and taken their seats, ready for the exam.

Instructor Ellie arrived some time later and walked to the front of the class. Her eyes sweeping through the hall as looked at the faces of the students, he gaze lingered on Alex’s face for a few more milliseconds before she looked to the next student.

Alex smiled slightly in his seat, noticing Ellie’s lasting gaze on him.

He could confidently say that his relationship with his instructor had improved quite well during the past months. He had made his move by approaching her after classes to ask more questions about the topics related to mana, these included what they discussed in class and what Alex had observed from farming exp.

Alex has given Ellie the impression that he was an intelligent student and she had grown fond of him, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he was her favourite student in the class to the point that they could be mistaken as friends.

And the fact that the age gap between them wasn’t too big made it easy for them to chat and discuss about class discussions and even casual discussions.

Alex was even bold enough to Ellie to accompany him outside for his birthday, it was a date attempt!

But Ellie misunderstood this, thinking that Alex wanted to trick her into bringing him outside the university ground before the first three months ended. She said it was against the rules for first year students to leave the university ground during the first three months and wouldn’t make an exception even for Alex.

However, she promised to treat Alex to a meal if he managed to enter the top ten spots on the ranking that would be announced after the assessment. By then, students would be free to go out as they pleased.

After all, although Alex was her favourite student, she knew that there were many other intelligent students who were from big, renowned backgrounds here in the capital; making it into the top ten wasn’t going to be easy.

Alex was left speechless at Ellie’s response, he wondered if he had succeeded in asking Ellie out on a date or she didn’t think of it that way.
