Chapter 224: Mr Chen is popular again.
Some time later, Alex finally arrived at the scene of the fight. The roars were deafening, powerful shockwave swept out in all directions as the ground trembled violently under the impacts of earth shattering collisions.
Alex stood on top of a large rock and watched the fight that was some hundreds of meters away from him. He was now able to see the two beasts that were creating so much disturbance in the night.
One was a large beast that resembled a gorilla but its size was massive, reaching several meters tall; it was well taller than many of the tall buildings in Brandvel City.
The body of the gorrila was covered in red hair that looked more like sleeping spikes and unlike a normal, it had a single eye at the top of its face.
The other beasts was a gigantic wolf that was just as huge as the red haired gorrila, its entire body covered in red flames just like a certain cub that Alex had found not long ago.
It was an elemental spirit, an elemental spirit of the fire element!
The fire elemental spirit was currently battling against the gigantic gorrila and both were in horrible conditions after fighting for some time.
Most of the gorrila’s hair had been burned off and its body was covered in burns and deep claw marks from which fresh blood poured out from like fountains.
The fire elemental spirit wasn’t any better, most of the flames covering its body had died out and the spots had turned pitch black. It also had several wounds that had been scratched or caused by the gorrila’s teeth from which red blood like magma flowed out from.
But these two beasts ignored their injuries and continued to fight.
Due to their fight, an area of several kilometres had been turned into ruins with burning holes and trenches littering the earth. Flames burst out from the ground from time to time, signifying that this place must have been a volcano.
Roar!!
The gorrila let out a thunderous roar as it swung its huge arms down at the fire elemental spirit.
The fire wolf, in response, moved away and spat out a large scorching fireball at the gorrila’s face.
Bam!
Boom!
The arms of the gorrila smashed into the ground just a moment later before the huge fireball that was as big as a small building exploded on its face.
The gorrila was pushed back and staggered repeatedly, causing the earth to tremble. Its face had been seriously burnt but it didn’t reach a critical state yet, it roared and charged at the fire elemental spirit again.
Alex watched from a distance but due to the size of these two creatures, it felt like the fight was happening right in front of him.
Also, he could feel the strength of attacks that these two were dealing. An Archmage would without a doubt die if they took a hit, yet these two were still able to keep going.
But from their conditios, Alex knew that one of them was going to die soon. He decided not to step in and let them do their thing, he would just watch till one of them died.
Some time later, more people began to arrive at the scene from different directions. They were the mages that Alex had sensed on his way here.
After arriving, they didn’t step in and stopped to watch from a distance just like Alex did.
A battle between two Divine rank magic beasts wasn’t something that mages could easily interrupt, not to mention that these two felt incredibly powerful for the Divine rank.
Beasts were scary when they were desperate and it wasn’t everyday you chanced upon a brawl between magic beasts at this rank, whatever could have made these two resolve to a death match, it was best to let them finish.
Amongst the people who just arrived, Alex noticed a familiar face.
Vice Dean Hannah. The elderly woman stood a couple hundred meters to Alex’s left with some other mages around her, her arms folded behind her back as she watched the two beasts fight.
He wasn’t the only one though, someone had noticed him as well.
“Mr Chen, I didn’t expect to see you here.” A familiar voice sounded from the side, Alex didn’t need to turn around to know who owned it.
Chief Maria of the Union Core Center of Brandvel capital City.
Alex turned to look at her, Maria was walking over with a surprised smile on her face. With her were four other mages whom Alex didn’t recognise, they were all at the Sage mage rank.
With Maria being a Sorcerer Mage herself, their group was undoubtedly the most powerful group present.
“Chief Maria,” Alex nodded as Maria walked close and stood next to him.
“Come on, don’t be so cold. I thought we would be closer now after our past transaction, I haven’t seen you since then and I’m really surprised to see you here. Come to think of it, I’ve been wanting to ask you about something.” Maria said with increasing excitement.
“What is it?” Alex asked.
“The lightning elemental spirit that you sold to us. You know that elemental spirits only appear for one reason, an essence stone.
I want you to sell me the lightning essence stone!” Maria said, her eyes gleaming with a gold glint like that of a greedy merchant.
If William was here, he would have probably facepalmed after hearing Maria’s words.
Alex was silent for a bit before speaking.
“Do you know what element I possess?”
“Yes, the lightning element.” Maria nodded, a confident look on her face.
“Yet you want me to sell you the lightning essence stone?” He asked again.
“Yes, I know you have it since you were able to get the elemental spirit; please sell it to me!” Maria said again, almost sounding like an excited little girl.
Alex “…”
‘Did she become stupid out of excitement?’ Alex thought before telling Maria that he couldn’t sell the lightning essence stone to her.
“Why not?”
“Because I’ve used it to strengthen myself.” Alex said with a hint of annoyance, he wasn’t happy that he had to spell that out himself.
“Oh, I see.” Was all Maria said, the excited glint in her eyes fading quickly as she came back to her senses.
She apologised for her earlier behaviour, saying that she had been too excited and got carried away.
She then proceeded to introduce the four people who were with her to Alex. The four were Elders under Maria in the Union Core Center.
“Nice to meet you Mr Chen, We’ve heard a lot about you.”
The mages said to Alex, it looked like they were already aware of Mr Chen’s no touching policy so they did not reach out for a handshake.
Alex was puzzled after learning that they were elders in the Union Core Center.
While they were still talking, some people walked over.
“Mr Chen, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Mr Chen, We’ve heard so much about you, it’s an honour to finally meet you in person.”
“You saved my grandchild at the Balon City incident, I’m very grateful to you, Mr Chen.”
A lot of people came to express their gratitude to Mr Chen for saving their relatives who were in Balon City during the incident of the cracks, while others had just heard about him and wanted to invite him to their place.
Alex “…”
Alex was shocked, he didn’t think that he was this popular. He didn’t know any of the people who were currently trying to invite him over, someone was seven proposing a marriage arrangement!
“Mr Chen, it’s nice to finally meet you.” A calm voice pierced through the many voices around Alex.
He turned and his eyes landed on the elderly figure of Vice Dean Hannah.
Immediately after she approached, the people in front moved out of the way for her to pass.
After all, she was one of the only two Sorcerer rank mages present.
“Vice Dean Hannah,” Alex muttered softly.
A surprised look appeared on the woman’s face when Mr Chen called her name.
“I see Mr Chen has heard about me, I’m honoured.” She said with a gentle smile.
Alex didn’t respond and continued to stare at her.
Vice Dean Hannah didn’t mind Mr Chen’s silence and continued to speak.
“I was informed that Mr Chen agreed to become a honorary instructor of my humble Magic university, We’ve been waiting for your arrival since then.” She said.
Alex replied that he was still occupied with something and would come to the Magic university once he was done.
Vice Dean Hannah nodded and said that she just wanted to make sure that Mr Chen hadn’t forgotten his promise.
At this moment, the battle between the two creatures that had been going on finally came to an end.
The gorrila had won but it dropped beside the corpse of the elemental spirit a few moments later.
It wasn’t dead yet but from how it was breathing and from the damage on its body, it wasn’t going to last much longer.
Just before it could draw its last breath, a figure appeared above it and stepped on its head.
BOOM!
