Chapter 207: Saint rank spell: Space sword!
For his first Saint rank spell, Alex already had a thought in mind after his fight against the Void knight. That slim sword that was able to cut even through his Void Walk had given him some inspiration.

Alex immediately opened his skill section and entered the craftsman skill. The options appeared, he picked customised crafting and then chose the space element. Then, the part where he needed to give the description of what the spell was to be about.

Alex took his time describing the spell that he wanted, including a lot of minor details that could be left to the system. After he was done, the system showed him the notification that the crafting of the sword was in process.

Alex didn’t know how long the crafting would take but he decided to wait a little since he was eager to test it out right after crafting it.

Luckily, the crafting didn’t take long and a notification soon popped up in front of Alex, followed by a list of spells similar to his description.

Alex wasn’t sure if it was because he had tried crafting a spell with a physical form, but all the spell options that were provided by the system had the same cost amount, which was 500k exp points; none went above or below this amount.

Anyways, Alex had no complaints about this since he could choose any from the list.

After just a few seconds, Alex found the spell that he liked; well, it was the spell with the best attributes.

….

[Space sword: A blade formed from the essence of space itself. It can cut through almost anything. Capable of sending slashes through space. It can be wielded or controlled from afar. Indestructible. Can travel through space!]

[Rank requirement: Saint Rank, 100 Links!]

[Cost: 500,000 exp!]

….

“100 Links? What’s that?” Alex thought out loud after seeing what he needed to form before he could cast a Saint rank spell.

Up till now, the highest spell that he had used was an Archmage spell and the required medium for an Archmage rank spell was to form two star constellations. Anything higher than that, Alex didn’t know.

So seeing that he needed to form a hundred links made him curious. Not that he was bothered, though, because the system would automatically form whatever mediums that he needed when casting a spell, regardless of whether he knew it or not.

Without giving it any more thought, Alex gave the order to craft the space sword.

Instantly, almost all of his exp disappeared from his profile and a new spell was added to his arsenal.

Alex took a look at his exp points after he finished crafting the spell, he didn’t even have up to a hundred exp points left after crafting the spell!

He was back to being poor.

Alex sighed and cheered himself up, he could always farm more exp in future. What was more important right now was testing his new spell!

At the thought of this, his eyes sparkled with excitement.

The next moment, silver white stars began to form around Alex, one after the other, at a rapid speed. In less than two seconds, hundreds of what seemed like galaxies filled the sky and covered a range of thousands of miles.

Alex was shocked as he stared at the sky.

“So this is what a hundred links looked like,” Alex mumbled absentmindedly as he stared at the beautiful view of stars above him.

One had to know that when casting an Expert rank spell, one needed to form a star constellation and a single star constellation was formed by five star patterns which meant 25 stars for a single star constellation.

At the Sage mage rank, one would need to form twenty star constellations to cast a Sage rank spell which required five hundred stars.

Twenty star constellations were equivalent to a single star Nebula.

At the Elder mage rank, one would be required to form two star Nebulas which needed a thousand stars.

When one reached the Sorcerer mage rank, one had to form a hundred star Nebulas just to cast a spell at that rank!

That would need one to summon fifty thousand stars!

This was already insane but it went even further because a hundred star Nebulas was only equal to a single star Link!

At the Saint rank, a mage would need to form a hundred star Links which needed five million stars!

What Alex was looking at right now was five million stars that had formed into hundreds of star patterns, star constellations, star nebulae, and then star Links!

But of course, Alex wasn’t aware of all this knowledge and didn’t know what Nebulas was. He just knew that the view above him was a hundred star Links because he had seen it in the system interface.

After marvelling at the view for some seconds, Alex came back to his senses and proceeded to cast his spell.

“Space sword,” he mumbled.

Right after his voice fell, an overbearing pressure descended on the areas that were under the coverage of the star Links. The aura wasn’t as violent as the lightning element, but felt like space had been locked and filled with invisible, sharp shards.

Then, right in front of Alex, it began to form.

The space sword!

It started from the blade and gradually formed towards the hilt.

The entire process took less than a second but felt longer to Alex as he watched the entire process with contained excitement.

Alex looked at the spell that had finally formed. The spell took the appearance of a single-edged sword with a sleek black hilt. Its blade burned with a silver white glow that rose like white mist and webbed with cracking patterns as if each section of the sword was a fragment of space itself.

It was…beautiful!

According to the description when he crafted it, Alex recalled that the sword could be controlled with his mind.

With a thought, Alex made the sword move in a direction.

But instead of flying like he had expected, the sword disappeared and appeared dozens of kilometres away.

This was a pleasing surprise for Alex, this meant that his target won’t see his attack coming!

He controlled the sword and made it appear at different locations around him, after which he made it come back to him.

The space sword appeared in front of Alex soundlessly as if it had always been there, Alex nodded in satisfaction.

He then grabbed the hilt of the sword and swung it down.

Swoosh!

The sharp sound of the wind being slashed rang out as the white mist on the sword’s blade flew out.

The next moment.

Boom!

The earth split in two, clouds parted, and space in front of Alex cracked like a broken mirror before quickly mending back.

Alex “…”

“I best not use this spell in any place with a human population,” Alex mumbled to himself as he stared at the destruction he had caused with just a casual slash.

The desert in front of him had been divided into two parts by his slash just now and even the mountain behind him was affected as the top had been blown off.

A deep canyon that stretched far into the distance had formed in the middle of the desert and even Alex was unable to see its end.

If this was the result of a casual testing swing, what would the result be if he swung it at full strength?!

Alex ended the spell and followed the canyon in the desert, wanting to see where it ended. By the time he reached the end, Alex realised that had he executed that swing in the City, he would have destroyed Balon City.

The distance that the canyon covered was three times the size of Balon City!

“As expected of a Saint rank spell, would a full swing be able to destroy a country?” Alex thought out loud. After all, he didn’t even use 10 percent of his strength in that slash.

Since he was done here, it was time to head back to Balon City. Just before Alex could leave, he sensed something.

His head turned to the side with a swift movement as his eyes gleamed with a sharp glint.

The thing he sensed reminded him of the elemental fruit he had seen at the auction but this one gave off the aura of the lightning element!

“Could it be a lightning elemental fruit?” Alex said, his voice tingling with excitement.

Today must be his lucky day. He just finished crafting his first Saint rank spell and was about to get an elemental fruit that resonated with his second element!

Without hesitation, Alex disappeared in the direction of the aura.

Some time later, Alex arrived at a valley with dark clouds above it. These clouds stretched for as far as the eyes could see, and more importantly…

Btzzz!

BAM!

From time to time, lightning would shoot down from the clouds and strike the ground. This resulted in the entire valley being filled with scorched craters.

If Alex were to give this place a name, he would name it “The Lightning Valley”

Not really impressive? He was bad at naming things so that’s that.
