Chapter 591: Fighting A Legend
“He’s stronger than I expected,” he thought to himself while still under the water. He had underestimated the monster’s power a little.
At best, this monster was Rank S, and it might even be Mid Rank S. You could say this was his first real battle against a Rank S.
Of course, he had fought the Buried God before too, but at that time he did not have control over his own body, and someone else was fighting in his place.
‘Looks like I have to fight at full power.’ Excitement surged in his eyes. After a long time, he had finally found an opponent worthy of all his strength.
Maybe through this, he could finally find his limits and understand how strong he really was.
The heavy pressure of the water was pushed off Daniel’s body, like a curtain being torn apart from the middle. In an instant, he burst out of the water.
His gaze fell on the ship, which was being swallowed by the waves and could sink at any moment. In fact, it was no different from a sunken ship.
With a surge, the death aura dried the waves around the ship completely, just enough to create a safe surface. The water was pushed back; a layer of death and lightning energy formed like a transparent dome around the ship and forced it upward.
The bone ship, with its last breath, was dragged out of the waves and fell back onto the surface of the sea.
“Damn… I thought we were done for and heading straight to hell!” Kayn, soaked, pale, and half-conscious, panted.
He and the captain had used their powers to create layers around themselves and the rest of the crew so they could breathe underwater and not be harmed.
However, because of the intense pressure and the danger of coming back up, they preferred to stay down there.
“Is everyone—everyone okay? Answer me!” Veronica was gripping the edge of the ship, blood dripping from her forehead, but she was alive and fine.
Shaky voices rose from different sides.
“We’re alive—we’re alive!”
“I… I don’t know what happened…”
“Captain! We didn’t sink?!”
Some were unconscious on the ground, some were crying, but no one had died. The only reason was that dense dome of energy pulsing around them.
“Can you beat it?” Kayn then turned his attention to Daniel, who was approaching them, and asked.
He did not doubt Daniel’s power, but the monster that had attacked them was one that many considered just a legend.
And now this living legend was right in front of them, and it looked like it wanted to swallow them whole.
If there was no way to win, then it was better to run while they still had time.
“Yeah.” Daniel said without even looking at him, yet his tone carried an unbreakable confidence.
Even though the monster was truly powerful, he doubted he would lose, especially since he had many trump cards. Besides, he did not want to let such a monster go. If he could turn it into a Fallen, it would be a huge gain for him.
Daniel kept the aura over the ship and moved toward the monster.
His eyes locked onto it again. The depths of the sea were boiling; the water trembled like a raging pot.
The monster bared its teeth, as if trying to assert its dominance.
It roared, a sound that shook the waves and tore through the sky.
“Better not disappoint me.” Daniel raised The Heavens Honor; its blade gleamed under the rain.
The power of the Law of Death gathered on the blade, black lines trembling like living veins. At the same time, the Law of Lightning filled the air around him; with every step he took, the air cracked.
The monster opened its mouth and fired a massive wave, but Daniel passed straight through it without even flinching. Lightning wrapped around his skin, and the first strike landed.
The blade tore open a large part of the monster’s neck; dark blood sprayed upward like reverse rain.
The monster let out a scream of pain and pulled back its massive body, the sea’s waves breaking apart. Then it stared with hostile eyes at the human who had wounded it.
It was as if it could not believe that the same human who had thrown it into the depths just minutes ago had now managed to hurt it.
“Maybe he really can…” Kayn murmured as he let out a sigh of relief.
Naturally, he had doubted Daniel’s confidence and words, but now that he saw the monster finally injured, he felt hope that they might actually win.
“The monster is wounded! That means… we have hope!” Veronica said excitedly. She felt like she was witnessing a historical moment.
Someone had actually managed to injure one of the most terrifying legends of the seas! And maybe he could even defeat it! If she could see that with her own eyes, it would be an honor.
“It’s surprised, but why isn’t it scared?” Daniel frowned slightly. Even though he had wounded it, the monster did not look afraid at all.
Instead, it seemed more shocked that a human had injured it. Still… that was all. It looked like it was still looking down on him.
He moved forward again, this time with a Death Line, a sudden assault that drew a black trail in the air and sliced part of the monster’s massive fins.
The monster twisted its body and struck back, but Daniel spun through the air, lightning wrapping around the monster like a whip.
Each of his strikes forced the monster further back, until it let out a massive roar, split the sea, and escaped underwater.
Three seconds passed.
Four seconds.
“Did it run?” Daniel frowned. He felt something was wrong. For some reason, he had a bad feeling.
Then suddenly, the water split again and the monster surged back up.
Completely healed.
“No… no… what the hell was that?!” Kayn froze.
“That thing… healed itself?!” Veronica whispered in disbelief.
Daniel lowered his sword, a light of curiosity flashing in his eyes.
“So that’s why it’s not scared. The water can heal it… so in a way, you could say it’s immortal.”
