Chapter 576: She Is Not My Ex Girlfriend
The next morning, after waking up, Daniel took a shower and then had breakfast with his family. The atmosphere between them felt dull and cold today.

Especially Liana, who was looking at her son with strange, worried eyes. It was obvious that after finding out that the little girl from last night was actually the nation’s number one prodigy, she had realized a few things.

She wasn’t stupid. Even though she looked like an ordinary housewife now, she was once the wife of the most powerful man in the world, there was no way someone like her could be dumb.

Of course, she had figured out that her son’s “ordinary friend” wasn’t so ordinary, and that girl must’ve approached him with a specific reason in mind.

Daniel could almost read his mother’s thoughts and didn’t know how to explain it to her. After all, this matter wasn’t normal, it was related to their family’s past, and he had no idea how she would react.

Considering how dangerous it was, he could already imagine her possibly getting angry, forbidding him from meeting those two again, and dragging him into more headaches.

“Mom you might not see your friend again for a while,” he sighed inwardly, deciding to reveal at least a small part of the truth and leave the rest for later, piece by piece.

“For what reason?” Liana asked with confusion.

“Well… she left the country last night.”

“You didn’t do anything to her, right?” Alice suddenly yelled.

“Hey! How dare you accuse me of that?!” Daniel flicked her forehead, making her shut up.

“I see. And you can’t tell me why?” Liana sighed. She had actually received a message from her friend last night that said: ‘It was a nice meeting. Until next time, farewell, Madam.’

When she first read it, she didn’t think much of it and assumed the girl just meant she had enjoyed the evening. Though it was a little odd that she addressed her so formally.

But after hearing Daniel’s words, she finally understood what that message truly meant.

“I’m sorry, but I really can’t say anything.”

Liana nodded and didn’t push the topic further. The way she was addressed in that message made it easy for her to guess a few things anyway.

After breakfast, Daniel took his two sisters to the Fallen Sun guild. He found them waiting near the entrance, they had training today and needed to go.

After dropping them off, he took out his phone and called his friend.

“Where are you?”

“Come to the national park.”

After that, Daniel drove toward the park. It was about a ten-minute drive from where he was, and luckily, there was no traffic, so he arrived quickly.

He parked the car in the first spot he found and walked toward the meeting place, near the biggest tree in the park.

Since it was the largest one there, it wasn’t hard to find. Thankfully, Joe was sitting on a nearby bench. When they saw each other again, they hugged like brothers and greeted warmly.

“Man, it’s been a long time. Even though we live in the same city, don’t you think we see each other way too rarely?” Joe laughed teasingly.

“We’re not kids anymore, and both of us are busy,” Daniel replied with a smile.

Joe was the heir to one of the biggest military and Awakened weapon corporations in the country. His family was among the wealthiest in the nation.

Naturally, now that he was chosen as the heir, his schedule was packed and he barely had any free time.

“Man, it reminds me of our middle school days. We were always together, running around, playing soccer at the park… feels like forever ago.” Joe sighed. No one really noticed how quickly time had passed.

It felt like just yesterday they were chasing each other around the neighborhood streets.

And now, they were adults, each living their own separate lives.

Daniel nodded without saying anything, silently agreeing. His whole life had passed in the blink of an eye; he hadn’t even realized how fast things had changed.

It felt like just yesterday he had awakened for the first time… and now? He was already an A-rank, and it wouldn’t be long before he reached S-rank.

“So, tell me about yourself. What have you been up to these days?” Joe asked curiously while rubbing his round belly.

Daniel gave a brief summary of what had been happening in recent months. Not that he had done much he could actually explain anyway, some things were better left unsaid.

“…”

“Damn, you’ve been busier than I thought. Meanwhile, I’ve just been stuck with my dad every day, learning about management and business. Your life sounds too hard. Not for me.” Joe yawned lazily.

“Anyway, forget that stuff. You said something about a gathering,” Daniel changed the subject.

“Oh, right! There’s gonna be a reunion soon, in the capital. All our old school friends will be there. I think Linor’s coming too, and of course, your ex-girlfriend Sarah’s gonna be there,” Joe said excitedly.

Before he could finish, Daniel flicked his forehead, leaving a red bump.

“Sarah was never my girlfriend, and I never liked her. Stop spreading rumors,” Daniel said coldly. He really couldn’t understand why no one ever accepted that truth.

“Alright, alright! Calm down.” Joe raised his hands in surrender, his tone almost pleading.

“Anyway, yeah, everyone’s gonna be there.”

“What about James?”

“No, he’s busy preparing for that ceremony where they’ll announce the next successor of the Goblin Guild.”

“You know about that too?” Daniel raised an eyebrow, but after a second thought, it made sense. Joe and his family would obviously be invited to such an event.

“Yeah, we got an invitation too.”

“As expected,” Daniel muttered.

“So, do you have any news about Linor? Or even Sarah? What have they been doing all this time?” Daniel asked curiously.

Linor, after all, used to be part of their trio back in school. Then after he became an awakend, everything changed.

And as for Sarah, even if she wasn’t his girlfriend, they had been close before everything fell apart.

“Linor’s been busy with the Tower, getting stronger. He called me a few times, said we should hang out like old times, the three of us. I, of course, turned him down and said I was busy,” Joe said with a shrug.

In truth, he was usually just busy playing on his game console whenever Linor called.

“And as for Sarah, she’s apparently been living abroad this whole time and supposedly joined the…”
