Chapter 570: Accusations Against The Guild
“Let’s meet the day after tomorrow,” Daniel replied simply to Joe, not mentioning anything about the high school gathering, mostly because he didn’t know what to do about it.

After high school ended, he hadn’t stayed in touch with any of his old classmates except Joe. Though, to be fair, it hadn’t been that long since graduation.

Still, Daniel never cared much for those kinds of reunions. He thought they were unnecessary and a waste of time, he’d rather spend his time training.

But on the other hand, there was a chance James would show up too, and Daniel hadn’t forgotten what that bastard did to him and his friends back in school.

That guy was one of the few people who’d truly managed to make him angry, so maybe he’d actually go this time, just maybe.

Besides, Joe had mentioned that that girl was coming as well. Daniel didn’t really have any special feelings toward her, but for some reason everyone around him always looked at the situation differently.

He sighed and decided to leave the decision for when he met Joe.

Then he quietly closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Time passed slowly, and before long, morning arrived. The sunlight pouring through the window woke him up. He took a shower, then had breakfast with his family.

Today, the two girls were on break and didn’t have to go to the Guild, so they planned to spend the day lazing around at home.

Since Liana had invited her friend over for the evening, she needed to tidy up the house first and then head out to do some shopping.

And of course, Alice and Tiana were supposed to help their mother, whether they wanted to or not.

Daniel couldn’t help but laugh when he saw the two girls grumbling and complaining. After saying goodbye, he got in his car and headed for the Guild.

He called Lana on the way to let her know he was back and that the conquest of the third floor was complete, asking if she and her father were at the Guild right now.

Lana said both she and her father were there. Daniel said goodbye and hung up.

Because of the traffic, he arrived at the Guild a bit later than usual. After parking his car, he walked into the building.

Instead of heading straight to the Guild Leader’s office, he went to the front desk first to update his status.

“Oh? Mr. Daniel! It’s been a while,” the receptionist, a young man with glasses, greeted him with a smile.

“I was busy clearing the third floor of the Tower,” Daniel said, waving from a distance before walking closer.

“So you’re here to update your record?”

“Yeah.”

“Then please tell me your current floor,” the man said while opening the panel.

“Mid-rank A, third floor,” Daniel replied.

“Got it. Please hand me your badge.”

Daniel handed over the badge that marked him as an Awakened. It didn’t take long before the receptionist created a new one and gave it back to him.

He took a look at it, it hadn’t changed much, except that his rank had been updated.

After saying goodbye, Daniel left the counter and went to the elevator. He entered and pressed the button for the floor where the Guild Leader’s office was located.

Moments later, the elevator doors opened. He stepped out and walked to the office. The Guild Leader’s secretary greeted him with a polite smile, and Daniel waved back before knocking on the door.

Knock, knock!

The door opened almost instantly. The one who opened it, of course, was Lana. She smiled when she saw him.

Daniel walked in and saw the Guild Leader sitting at his desk. As soon as Daniel entered, the man stood up and approached him with a friendly smile.

They greeted each other, exchanged a few words, asked how things were going, and once all the small talk was done, everyone sat down.

“So, how was the third floor?” Lana asked curiously.

“Hell-level difficulty, and it really lived up to the name.”

“Hell-level, huh? Well, considering your strength, that makes sense.”

Daniel just shrugged. He was sure that even a Rank S or a national-level Awakened wouldn’t have been able to clear that third floor.

He had literally fought against a god, and when the Fallen God had taken control of his body, that battle had reached a completely different level from anything he’d ever experienced.

“Seems like you’ve gotten a lot stronger,” Varnos said with a grin, looking at Daniel. Just sitting across from him made Varnos’s body tense up.

He had felt this kind of pressure from the boy before, but it had been faint, barely noticeable. Now, though, it was so intense that his instincts were on full alert.

It was as if he were facing an equal.

“Well, I’ve been through quite a lot,” Daniel said with a laugh. Considering how many monsters he had devoured, it made sense that he was much stronger now.

In fact, even Daniel himself wasn’t sure how strong he’d become, but he felt like he could probably take on Rank S Awakened now.

“Anyway, putting that aside… I heard things at the Guild aren’t going well. What’s going on?” he asked, his tone turning serious.

As his words echoed through the room, both Lana and Varnos exchanged glances, their expressions tightening. Then they turned their eyes back to Daniel.

“Same old problems — but while you were away the Goblin Guild has been getting more and more hostile toward us,” Lana summarized the situation.

It turned out that when Daniel entered the tower, a meeting of the country’s top guild leaders had been held to decide what to do about the attacks and the terrorists’ interference in the country.

At that meeting the Goblin Guild put forward a theory that there might be spies of theirs inside the country, or people who were cooperating with them.

Anyway, some of the incidents that happened in the country, the ones the terrorists claimed responsibility for, really do require internal Intervention

At the time everyone thought that idea made sense, even the Everlight Moon Guild.

But who could have guessed that this was only the start of those bastards’ plans from the Goblin Guild? It didn’t take long before, at the second meeting, they threw all the accusations onto their rivals and claimed it was the Everlight Moon Guild that might be working with the terrorists.

The evidence they brought was ridiculous and proved nothing, but because they control the media they were able to show things to the public however they wanted.

The problem is people actually believed that their guild was truly accused, even though everything was only talk.

“If this keeps up, government agencies may have no choice but to start investigating our guild. That would completely destroy our standing,” Varnos said, feeling a headache.
