Chapter 560: Getting Serious
The moon was shattered. The sky trembled like torn fabric, and the ground beneath their feet no longer existed, only endless space and dark currents of death energy flowing silently around them like rivers.
It was the first time Daniel had seen something like this. He honestly didn’t expect that fighting with his full power could cause such destruction.
In front of him,
the Buried God looked at his half-burned arm.
“This… impossible…” his voice carried pure disbelief.
“A mortal actually managed to wound me?”
Daniel stood in the distance. Even though he had managed to wound this god, all his Fallen had been killed.
Even his life force was severely damaged, and the Death Tablet within his spiritual palace was cracked.
“You should accept that you’re no longer a god.”
He raised his sword. Now that he had managed to wound him, he was sure he could kill him.
The Buried God roared in rage. Death energy and buried light merged, forming a storm of black radiance.
Everything it touched turned into dust of existence.
Daniel activated [Demonic Twilight Shield] along with [Royal Barrier]. Both shields glowed, trembled, absorbed part of the divine energy, then reflected a portion of it back.
To make sure they wouldn’t melt or be destroyed, he had to burn his own life force.
If one looked closely at his face in that moment, it was clear he was aging, wrinkles spreading across his skin.
He used the opening and jumped through the shadows, appearing behind the god in an instant, and struck with [Strike Of Destruction].
The sword sank into the god’s flesh and bone, yet the Buried God didn’t scream. Instead, he laughed, a mad, chaotic laugh.
“Human, it seems you’re overestimating yourself!”
Suddenly, a radiant light burst from within his body. A small wound opened on his chest, and from it, a gate to another world appeared.
A black hole made of light.
From it came screams that could melt the mind.
Daniel froze for a brief second, even he felt the tremor within his soul.
He slammed his sword into the ground.
[Funeral Eclipse]
The moon turned red in the sky. The sun went dark. And death rose from the earth. In that moment, all laws of life and death within the area collapsed.
Everything alive aged. Everything dead awakened.
In this state, Daniel’s sword doubled in power, but his body burned away with time.
This skill was something he created by combining the Law of Death, his sword’s innate ability, and the divine powers the Buried God had used so far.
The Buried God tried to retreat, but the domain of Funeral Eclipse trapped him.
White smoke began to rise from his body.
Daniel advanced, his strikes becoming faster and heavier, and with each hit, the sound of reality breaking echoed around them.
His sword was drenched in the aura of death.
The Buried God roared and tried to counterattack, but suddenly his eyes widened.
His movements slowed down, his mind distorted.
[Death Roar]
A sound that destroyed reason itself. The Buried God froze for a moment, dazed, unsteady, his mind filled with chaos.
Daniel saw the chance. Silently, he switched his sword to his left hand and dragged his right hand across the ground.
[Moon Requiem]
The moon split in the sky, and a droplet of silver light fell upon his sword. Each drop contained the death of thousands of souls. He lifted the sword and swung it downward.
Boom!
A massive explosion shook both the sky and the earth.
When the light faded, the Buried God appeared again, wounded even further. His right arm was gone, and from the wound, spiritual mist leaked out and vanished into the air.
Daniel stood there, half-alive, half-dead. His own condition wasn’t any better.
His face was barely human anymore, parts of his skin glowing with dark light, his eyes like a split moon.
“You remind me of someone,” the Buried God said, his tone full of killing intent.
“Who? Someone that’s going to kill you?” Daniel sneered. He lowered his sword, and the strike shattered the horizon itself.
Light, darkness, and time all vanished for a brief instant.
When the dust settled, the god was still standing, unharmed this time, though his face was twisted with anger.
His eyes had no whites, his mouth filled with light. His skin, like black stone, cracked apart, and from within him shone a merciless radiance.
His voice echoed across the entire sky.
“Fine, human. I admit you’ve surpassed my expectations. If you hadn’t faced me, you might’ve even reached the level of the gods.”
Golden light erupted from his body and coiled through the sky like a crown of flame and ash.
[Burial Resurrection]
With his roar, the blood and souls scattered across the cycle of reincarnation were drawn to him. His half-burned body rebuilt itself, not completely, but into something darker, more wrathful.
Every wound on his body closed with a buried flame of light.
Daniel tried to stand, but the ground beneath him collapsed.
[Chains of Divinity]
From the sky, chains of light and darkness descended and wrapped around Daniel. Each chain locked in place with a bell’s toll, and with every ring, part of Daniel’s soul was torn away.
He felt his very essence being suffocated, his energy collapsing.
[Bloody Shadow Dance]
In an instant, he split into dozens of shadows, trying to escape the chains, but the chains seemed to be made of something untouchable. The shadows couldn’t pass through them.
“See? Even the shadows fear me!” the Buried God laughed maniacally.
“Shut up,” Daniel growled, ignoring him.
His sword suddenly trembled, as if its consciousness was responding to his rage.
Daniel screamed within the chains, and from his eyes, beams of pure destruction burst forth.
[Eyes of Destruction]
An explosion erupted from within the chains, cracks spreading across them, and then The Heavens Honor moved on its own, slashing the bindings apart.
“It’s time to end this,” the Buried God hissed.
[Judgment Beyond Faith]
The entire sky turned white. Within that light, millions of faces appeared — souls of the dead, worshipers, and sacrificed victims.
They raised their hands, and from their mouths came only one word:
“Judgment, judgment, judgment—”
Thunder fell, and a wave of pure divine energy surged toward Daniel, something between light and death, between mercy and annihilation.
Daniel instinctively activated all his defensive skills, but they shattered instantly.
The wave consumed him, trying to erase his very existence.
The Buried God stared coldly at him. To him, the battle was over. Even gods couldn’t survive what he had just unleashed.
Then suddenly, he coughed up blood, his body trembling, weakened.
“This skill… even for me, it’s dangerous.” He laughed bitterly. He never thought a mortal would push him to this point.
But finally, it was over.
“What the…?”
A moment later, he saw something that made his mind freeze.
A familiar aura appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around that boy’s entire body, an aura that seemed to emerge from the depths of his very soul and existence.
The power that had been about to erase him was completely nullified, devoured instead. Daniel’s body began to shine, but not with ordinary light.
It was divine, something beyond this world.
The Buried God stared in disbelief.
“This aura… the God of Chaos? Impossible… that old friend is still alive?” he muttered, his eyes wide with shock.
