Chapter 559: Wounding A God
[ You have been killed ]
[ One extra life has been consumed ]
[ Please select one of your Fallen to be erased ]
Daniel’s body rapidly reformed before everyone’s eyes, returning to normal as if he hadn’t been killed just seconds ago.
As life flowed back into him, his eyes caught the system messages. He made a choice, then turned his gaze toward the god standing before him.
There was no surprise in that god’s eyes, as if he had already known Daniel would come back to life.
But how?
Daniel had never met anyone who knew about this ability of his.
No one was supposed to know that he could return from death itself.
Was it just because he was a god? Daniel wasn’t sure.
“You know, I’m quite curious how you managed to obtain one of that god’s abilities,” the Buried God finally spoke, his tone calm but laced with genuine curiosity as he looked straight at him.
The only thing that truly intrigued this deity about the human before him was how he had gained the power of that god.
As far as he knew, that god never even had a successor, and he doubted that man would have left behind any kind of inheritance.
So what was going on here?
“That god? You mean the Fallen God?” Daniel frowned.
Now he understood how this deity knew about his power.
This god knew the Fallen God personally, though Daniel had already suspected that might be the case.
“The Fallen God? Is that what they call him these days?” The Buried God started laughing as if he had just heard something ridiculous.
“So that’s the name they use now?”
“Of course not,” he said, smiling faintly. “His true, ancient name was the God of Chaos.
But you still haven’t answered my question.”
“I guess I was just born with it?” Daniel shrugged. He honestly didn’t know how he had this ability.
At first, he thought the Mother System randomly assigned classes to everyone…
but now, he wasn’t so sure.
“If you don’t want to answer, then at least don’t lie,” the Buried God said coldly, clearly not believing him.
“Believe whatever you want.”
Daniel took a deep breath, and the energy of death inside him began to surge violently.
His life force ignited like a storm, burning away at an explosive rate as his power skyrocketed.
Suddenly, light burst around him.
A glass-like domain took shape, filled with infinite reflections of death, the moon, and destruction.
[ Glass Domain ]
But before his power could fully unfold, the Buried God simply flicked his finger, and the domain shattered instantly.
Its collapse sounded like the screams of a thousand broken souls.
“You should know by now, that won’t work against me,” he said mockingly, lifting his hand.
The ground trembled.
[ Burial Flare ]
A pillar of black light erupted from the temple floor to the heavens, every particle within it carrying the power to erase souls.
Daniel was thrown through the air.
[ Demonic Twilight Shield ] activated, but he wasn’t foolish enough to rely on it alone, he triggered five other defensive skills in succession.
Some of the shields melted away under the attack’s pressure.
Before the Buried God could follow up, Daniel vanished.
Shadows twisted in the air.
[ Bloody Shadow Dance ]
He reappeared behind the deity, swinging his sword toward the god’s neck, but the strike was blocked effortlessly between two fingers.
Then moonlight surged through Daniel’s blade.
[ Strike of Destruction ]
When their powers collided, space itself seemed to vanish, as if nothing could exist in that moment.
But the Buried God only smiled coldly and stepped back, spreading his arms wide.
[ Burial Requiem ]
Millions of buried souls rose from the ground, beings made of regret, pain, and loss.
Each one had once defied the world, entered the cycle of reincarnation, and was now forcibly dragged back into existence.
“Damn it! And you’re telling me this isn’t even one percent of a god’s power!?” Daniel shouted, cursing under his breath.
[ Thunder of Lost Dreams ]
A thunderclap erupted, not from the sky, but from within his very being, crashing down on the ghostly army.
It was thunder born from regret and fear.
The spirits screamed as they were consumed by blue flames, forcing the Buried God to step back slightly.
Daniel saw it, and a faint smile appeared on his face.
He had finally managed to make this bastard take even a single step back.
He raised his hand, summoning from beneath the earth
[ Eternal Burning Sun ]
A small sphere of white light with a black core, a sun burning with countless deaths.
He hurled it forward, and the impact against the god’s barrier unleashed a scorching wave that incinerated half the sky.
But the Buried God was still standing.
Ashes fell from his shoulder as his expression turned more serious.
“I didn’t expect you to be insane enough to burn through your life force like this.”
He raised both hands, and the ground beneath Daniel began to split open.
[ Grave of Demons ]
Hundreds of stone pillars emerged, each engraved with the name of a demon.
From within them, faces began to form, the remnants of beings who had once rebelled against the gods and whom he had sealed away in these tombs.
They lunged toward Daniel, filled with hatred and curses.
Daniel was barely breathing at this point, but then his sword trembled.
“I guess there’s no choice,” he muttered with a sigh.
Suddenly, all the death, all the pain, all the laws of existence condensed into his blade.
The sword began to glow, not with light, but with absolute darkness.
Daniel raised it high.
For a brief moment, even the Buried God, the earth, and the heavens fell silent.
[ The Death Oath ]
It had been a long time since he last used the sword’s innate skill, and now, it was time once again.
Thousands of collapses erupted at once. The Buried God frowned.
A phenomenon formed around them, the moon turned crimson, the ground fell silent, and every sound in the world vanished for several seconds.
“Not enough,” Daniel growled.
To make sure, he summoned the Fallen as well.
Hundreds of Fallen appeared behind him, all awaiting his command.
At his signal, they charged toward the Buried God in a storm of black energy.
Daniel didn’t know if it would work, but he had to put everything he had into this one strike.
Even if he could only wound this bastard… that would be enough.
Just wounding him would prove there was still a way to defeat him.
