Chapter 529: Resurrection Of Evil
After Daniel’s retreat, the priests wanted to chase after him, but the Grand Priest stopped them, and they had no choice but to give up on that monster that had attacked their sacred temple.

In truth, deep down, they were thankful that the Grand Priest had stopped them. At that moment, they were truly terrified and didn’t dare to go after that monster.

All of this was just an act to avoid losing their dignity. Looking at their condition, even if they had gone after that monster, would anything have changed? It would have only increased the number of deaths.

Even though they had the power of God on their side, they couldn’t stand against that creature at all, and that was what terrified them the most.

All of them were injured, and some were even on the brink of death. If they weren’t treated immediately, they would certainly die.

After thinking for a moment, the priest with the highest seniority among them sighed, and with the help of the others, quickly carried the wounded priests back into the temple.

Now only the Grand Priest could save the remaining ones.

…..

“Grand Priest, what’s their condition?” one of the priests who was in slightly better shape asked respectfully.

“They will live, but they won’t be able to move for a while,” the Grand Priest replied indifferently, though a faint glimmer of light flickered in his eyes.

“What happened? Where did those monsters suddenly come from?” the second-highest-ranking priest couldn’t stop himself from asking.

Their city was protected by divine power. Monsters should never be able to enter under any circumstances. Even if they were powerful enough to somehow break in, they shouldn’t be able to defeat the priests.

The priests had the power of God behind them. It was simply impossible for a few nameless monsters to overpower them. Yet what they had seen tonight completely shattered their beliefs.

That monster had defeated all the priests and nearly killed every one of them. If it hadn’t been for the Grand Priest’s intervention, they would all be dead.

“I don’t know what those creatures were, but they were definitely something powerful,” the Grand Priest said, shifting his gaze away from the injured priests.

Even he was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected that he would have to personally intervene.

“So what do we do now? That monster escaped, and it might come back again. Even if it doesn’t, we’ll have to hunt it down! Otherwise, the people’s faith will start to crumble,” the priest said with concern.

If the people’s faith wavered, it would be disastrous for them. It could completely destroy their divine influence.

“When they recover, we’ll decide what to do. Until then, try to spread the word among the people that the Evil has returned,” the Grand Priest said calmly, contrary to what the others expected. He didn’t seem worried at all.

In fact, he saw this as an opportunity, a perfect chance to strengthen the people’s faith.

During peaceful and stable times, the faith of humans always fades. That is their nature. When there is calm and safety, they drift away from the gods and turn toward pleasure and love.

Fortunately, their city was a completely religious one, under his control. The people’s faith was still strong, but he could already sense fluctuations within it.

If nothing happened, sooner or later, their faith would grow weaker. When that happened, even the power of God would weaken, and next time they might not be so lucky.

“The news about the Evil’s resurrection? Could it really be him?” the priest named Morvain suddenly looked horrified as if he had just realized something.

His entire body started shaking, his pupils dilated, cold sweat ran down his forehead, and his legs almost gave out beneath him.

If that demon had truly resurrected, did they stand any chance? No, no, no! That was impossible! How could the Devil return?

They themselves had cast that Evil into the Cursed Sea. They had seen with their own eyes as his body and soul burned away into nothing.

They had even thrown the remnants of that Evil and his followers into the abandoned canyon. So how could he possibly come back?

“It’s just a rumor. The Evil will never come back again. He’s dead,” the Grand Priest said coldly, noticing the fear in his subordinate’s face.

“Really? So he truly won’t return? This is just a false rumor?” Morvain asked again, trying to reassure himself.

He couldn’t help it. They were all terrified of that demon. That being had almost slain their god. Just thinking about what the Evil had done was enough to make him soil himself in fear.

Even the monster that attacked them tonight wasn’t as terrifying as that Evil.

“I told you, it’s just a false rumor. Now get out,” the Grand Priest said coldly.

The priest let out a sigh of relief and quickly left the room. He was ordered to spread the news about the Demon’s resurrection as soon as possible.

He could already imagine how terrified the people would be once the news spread. They would rush to the temple, begging for divine protection.

That way, the power of God should increase, right? And when that happened, they too would grow stronger.

After he left, the Grand Priest sighed and turned his gaze toward the statue before him, a headless statue of the Evil.

“Once the rumors spread, the people will be terrified, and God’s power will grow stronger,” he muttered to himself.

God had already foreseen that a great catastrophe was coming. He had thought of many ways to prevent it but had found none, until tonight, when that monster attacked and gave him an idea.

By creating fear among the people, their faith would increase, and as their faith grew, God’s power would rise as well. With more divine power, he could strengthen himself and possibly prevent the coming disaster.

He just didn’t know whether those monsters that attacked tonight were part of that catastrophe or not.

Maybe he needed to speak with God again.
