Chapter 521: Reaching The Destination
Daniel frowned slightly as he saw the massive foot descending toward him, but there was no trace of worry or fear on his face.
Instead, an odd calmness and indifference filled his eyes.
Then, as if he had sensed something, a faint smile appeared on his lips.
He instantly canceled the summoning of all his Fallen, every one of them vanished in a single moment.
Right after that, Daniel himself disappeared as well.
The giant foot came crashing down, shaking the entire canyon violently.
The sound of collapsing rock filled the air, it was as if the earth and sky had split apart. Countless cliffs crumbled, leaving nothing behind but dust and destruction.
The monster noticed that the annoying insects had disappeared, but it didn’t care much.
It lifted its foot and frowned when it saw that nothing had been crushed underneath.
A furious roar erupted from its skull-like face, and the entire canyon trembled again, it almost felt like the sky itself was breaking apart.
Every other monster in the canyon was terrified. They hid deep within the shadows, trembling, not daring to show themselves.
At that moment, they hated those two humans with all their hearts.
Why did they have to awaken this giant creature? Why couldn’t they just die quietly?
The massive monster looked around one last time. When it realized the human had vanished completely, it turned back and descended into the depths of the canyon once again.
This entire canyon was its home. It could sense every living being within it, and yet, it could no longer feel the presence of those two humans.
That could only mean one thing.
They had escaped the canyon.
It wanted to chase them down, to tear them apart for disturbing its sleep, but unfortunately, it could not leave the canyon.
At that same moment, outside the canyon, Daniel slowly fell onto the soft, green grass and began gasping for air.
He had almost been crushed like an ant.
“We finally made it out,” Drael said between breaths, collapsing beside him.
The excitement in his eyes was clear; he was genuinely happy just to be alive.
Even now, when he heard the monster’s distant roar echoing through the air, he shivered. For a second, he thought it might actually chase them down.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen. The monster gave up.
“Good thing it can’t leave the canyon,Otherwise, you’d really be dead by now.” Daniel said With sarcasm
He wasn’t worried about his life at all. No matter how powerful that monster was, there was no way it could actually kill him.
What a joke… Even if he did die, it wouldn’t matter. He could just come back to life whenever he wanted.
But Drael? He would’ve definitely died.
Part of Daniel almost didn’t care, after all, this idiot had caused him more than enough trouble already. Maybe getting rid of him wouldn’t have been such a bad thing.
“How did you know it couldn’t follow us?” Drael asked curiously, ignoring the sarcasm.
“I didn’t,” Daniel replied with a shrug. “I just guessed it couldn’t.”
Of course, that wasn’t the full truth.
He had a rough idea that the creature might not be able to leave the canyon.
If it could, there would be no reason for it to stay trapped down there. It could go wherever it wanted and destroy anything in its path.
Still, that was only a guess, he had no real evidence. If it had been able to chase them, he would’ve had to come up with another plan.
“Forget it,” Drael sighed. “Now that we’re out of the canyon, what do we do next?”
“Obviously, we head to the Crimson Temple,” Daniel replied.
“I just hope we don’t run into more disasters like this again,” Drael muttered as he stood up slowly.
Their journey so far had been nothing short of hell. He’d almost died several times already. If it wasn’t for Daniel, he was certain he wouldn’t have survived this long.
Maybe God really did smile on him, by sending him a guardian angel.
“So… where even are we?” he asked, looking around. “Some kind of plain?”
Daniel also stood up and scanned their surroundings.
The sky was still dark, but there were plenty of glowing plants and faint moonlights around, enough to see clearly, much better than the canyon or the mountain range, where night meant total darkness.
They were surrounded by a vast green plain.
Behind them, the canyon was still visible in the distance, and far to the right, the faint shadow of the sea could be seen.
“At least we’re not in a wasteland anymore,” Drael said quietly.
He never thought he’d be so happy to see grass and open fields.
“Based on the murals we saw in the tomb, there should be a village or town near this canyon,” Daniel recalled. “The Crimson Temple should be there too. We’re probably not too far from it.”
“Considering how terrified people are of this place, and how they used to offer sacrifices, it’s likely three or four hours away,” Drael reasoned.
“Then we’ll go on foot,” Daniel said. “I’ve got almost no mana left, and I’d rather recover it before we reach the temple.”
Drael agreed, and the two began walking straight ahead.
Before they set off, Daniel summoned one of his Fallen and sent it into the sky to scout the area ahead.
That way, the Fallen could locate the town or village before they got too close and warn them of any danger.
Even with his strength, Daniel still preferred caution, especially since he had no idea what kind of surprises awaited them inside the Crimson Temple.
At first, he hadn’t been too worried.
He didn’t think anything in this floor could possibly defeat him.
But after facing that massive monster in the canyon, his opinion had changed.
It was clear now that this floor had adjusted its difficulty according to his power.
There could easily be something even stronger waiting for him ahead.
That’s why he wanted to make sure he had a backup plan before running into another disaster.
Time passed slowly.
Minutes turned into hours, and before they realized it, the sky began to lighten.
The moon faded, replaced by the first rays of dawn.
Surprisingly, the weather here was much gentler than in the shore, the mountains, or the canyon, neither too cold nor too hot, perfectly balanced.
As daylight spread across the plain, they finally saw something in the distance,
tall stone walls.
Just then, the Fallen descended from the sky and knelt before Daniel.
“My Lord, there is a city ahead, surrounded by tall walls. In its center stands a grand crimson temple.”
Hearing those words, Daniel and Drael exchanged a glance and smiled.
At last, they had reached their destination.
