Chapter 516: Battle In A Tomb
“You’re too bold, human. Courage isn’t bad, but when you face someone far stronger than you, the only thing you should do is beg,” the monster growled.

At that moment, a terrifying aura burst out from it, shaking the entire tomb.

Drael stepped back with wide eyes, sensing the intense danger, while Daniel simply took a step forward.

“Law of Light… but corrupted?” Daniel muttered, frowning as he sensed the aura. It was definitely the Law of Light, but why did it feel so dark and sinister?

The monster grinned. A flash of light shot from its eyes.

The ground under Daniel melted. He dodged instantly, slashing horizontally with The Heavens Honor.

His blade tore through the air, but the monster activated [False Halo], summoning a glowing ring above its head that created a barrier, deflecting the strike.

The blade’s aura carved into the stone, and the sound of cracking echoed through the tomb.

“Death energy reflection… interesting,” Daniel muttered.

“You feed on death… I feed on life. Let’s see who gets hungrier first,” the monster laughed.

Its arm stretched out unnaturally, and from its fingers, thousands of [Blinding Chains] burst forth.

The chains were made of light, but whenever they touched the walls, the stone turned black and decayed.

Daniel jumped back quickly, gripping his sword with both hands and releasing the weapon’s aura.

Waves of gray death energy spiraled through the air, slicing through the chains, but each cut piece reformed instantly, made again of light.

He struck once more. The ground shook. The monster was thrown back but still smiling.

From the corner, Drael tried to find an escape route, but when [Judgment’s Echo] resounded, he screamed, clutching his head as he fell to the floor.

The corrupted bell tolled through the air. The walls trembled. Bones cracked.

Daniel took a deep breath. His vision blurred for a second, but he immediately spread his death aura to cancel the vibrations.

“You can’t talk to me about light.”

“You still don’t understand… I am not light, human. I am the sin of light.”

The way the monster spoke was strange, like an ancient noble, maybe even a poet or philosopher.

Daniel had already figured out roughly who this creature was and what was really going on. He just needed to confirm it.

With every step the monster took, the ground beneath its feet turned white, glowing from the center.

Daniel dashed forward, merging the Law of Death with his sword, and swung diagonally.

The sword cut through the air, severing the monster’s arm at the wrist.

Light poured from the wound, but a few seconds later, the arm reformed, flesh and light fused together like living glass.

At that moment, the monster raised its hand and activated [Light Devourer].

Beams of light shot toward Daniel like serpents.

Wherever they struck the ground, the stone hollowed from the inside.

Daniel blocked with his sword’s aura, but some of the light pierced through his defense, turning part of his armor gray.

He stepped back, gray smoke rising from his body.

“Just a human… How are you still alive? You should’ve rotted in my light like the others!” the monster’s laughter echoed through the tomb.

“Why don’t you just crawl back into your coffin? That way, you might actually stay alive, pathetic as that is,” Daniel said with disdain.

He stepped forward calmly. At that moment, [Corrupted Radiance] erupted from the monster’s body, filling everything with white light.

Daniel closed his eyes and activated his sword aura, spinning it in a full circle around him.

Light and death collided, and the sound was like a hundred souls screaming at once.

The explosion shook the tomb’s walls. Drael was dragged across the floor as part of the ceiling collapsed.

Daniel was still standing, sword raised, gray mist rising from the blade.

The monster had lost half its body, but regenerated again, smiling.

“See? I always return. My light is eternal. You’re just a weak human.”

Light and darkness intertwined, the ground melting beneath them. Drael lay half-unconscious in the corner, while the monster stared at Daniel with glowing white eyes.

“I wanted to be sure about something, and now I am. It’s your time to die,” Daniel said mockingly, a massive surge of power flowing through his body.

The monster stepped forward, its voice echoing like a bell in his soul.

“You humans are all the same, arrogant. You think you can stand against light… but in the end, all that’s left of you is ash.”

It was clear the creature wasn’t taking Daniel seriously at all. In its eyes, the outcome had already been decided, and the victor was none other than itself.

from its mouth burst a blinding wave of [Divine Shatter].

The wave slammed into Daniel, and the sound of his shield shattering echoed through the air.

His sword aura collapsed. Stones cracked apart. The monster laughed wildly, charging forward as hundreds of [Blinding Chains] of light spread around him, wrapping Daniel completely.

The chains coiled around his body and began sinking into his skin like serpents made of light.

His flesh burned. Smoke rose. The sound of sizzling filled the air.

“It’s over… human,” the monster whispered.

For a moment, silence.

Then, a faint cracking sound.

The chains trembled. Their glow shifted from white… to yellow… and finally to black.

The monster stepped back. “What—?”

Daniel lifted his head.

His eyes were half-open, but deep within them burned a dim gray light.

“I expected more from a monster at your level. I thought you could actually push me. Guess I underestimated myself. Maybe I really do need to face an S Rank next time,” he said calmly.

With a sharp crack, the chains shattered.

An aura of death and sword energy erupted from his body, like gray mist devouring the air.

The ground beneath him began to wither, not from heat, but from the erosion of existence itself.

The monster leaped back, but it was already too late.

Daniel slowly drew his sword from the ground.

The blade’s aura trembled around him, swirling like a storm.

Wind, dust, and the wails of spirits filled the chamber.

He took a step forward, just one, and the earth within several meters turned to ash.

The monster screamed and activated [False Halo], but its circle of light collapsed with a faint puff.

In an instant, Daniel vanished.

The monster turned its head—Daniel was already behind it. His sword pierced through its chest.

The creature screamed, light bursting from the wound, but unlike before, its light dimmed and went out.

“Wh–… what? My light… it’s gone—”

“No. I didn’t extinguish it. I just sent it back to where it belongs.”

Daniel pulled the sword free. The light within the monster’s body turned black, like a star devouring itself.

The monster screamed as the ground began to collapse.

Daniel simply watched—calm, expressionless.

The air warped around him, the death energy so dense that even the stones turned black.

“You… you’re not human…” the monster whispered with its final breath, reaching out weakly.

“Maybe,” Daniel exhaled softly, then activated Everlasting Physique, devouring the creature in an instant.

At the same moment, he raised his sword and swung downward.

The vertical strike split everything, earth, light, and air itself.

The shockwave struck the ceiling, blasting open a path to the surface.

In a swift motion, Daniel grabbed Drael and threw him through the gap, just before the explosion of light and death consumed the entire tomb.

For one last time, light and darkness shone together, and then, everything went silent.
