Chapter 494: Veloran Kingdom
“Burn them? Wait… where did that voice come from?” Daniel frowned slightly as he heard the voice and looked into the distance.

To his surprise, he saw a figure getting closer، if he wasn’t mistaken, it was a young man, probably around his own age.

However, before he could say anything, one of those strange creatures suddenly attacked again, trying to bite his neck. Daniel grabbed it with both hands.

This time, he didn’t throw it away. Instead, he glanced at his inventory and found an item that could create fire.

He took it out — it was a small ring. He slipped it onto his hand.

Mana burst out from his palms, first white, then turning into pure red and orange.

A strange, howling sound filled the air as a flame was born, an impossibly hot fire that turned everything it touched into ash.

The flames wrapped around the creature he was holding, consuming it completely until nothing was left but ashes.

And this time… it didn’t come back to life.

[ You have successfully killed an Undead Sea and … ]

“So burning them really works.” Daniel smiled faintly, lifting his gaze from the notification and turning toward the rest of those eerie creatures, the ones apparently called Undead Sea.

The fire spread across the sand, slithering like living snakes.

The creatures screamed, their voices like the wails of spirits being dragged from their graves.

One of them charged at Daniel, its body made of bones and threads of rotten flesh. Before it could reach him, flames crawled up its legs.

Its flesh evaporated instantly, bones blackened and shattered, leaving no ash behind.

Another wave of monsters emerged from the sea, howling, their decayed claws raised high.

Daniel looked at them indifferently, then a massive wave of silver flames erupted, covering the entire shore.

The sky flickered between light and darkness.

One after another, the creatures were swallowed by the silver blaze.

Their skin and bones melted in an instant, their souls screamed, and then silence fell.

Daniel exhaled, his mana gradually calming down. The flames slowly faded, and the shore returned to its original state. Not even a trace of the creatures remained.

Still, he had gained a decent amount of EXP, not enough to push him to mid-rank A, but better than nothing.

Then his attention turned toward the young man standing a few meters away, staring at him with a mix of fear and disbelief.

“Who are you?”

“Eh? Me? Who am I?” The young man stammered awkwardly, clearly still shaken by what he had just witnessed.

“My name’s Drael. I’m a Climber, just like you!” he said quickly, realizing his reaction might’ve seemed suspicious.

“I see. Nice to meet you. My name’s Daniel.”

Daniel had already scanned him, the guy was only at high-rank B, not nearly strong enough to pose any threat.

And judging from his name, he was most likely from the Celestial Domain.

“Daniel? What a strange name… sounds almost like one of those Otherworldly ones.” Drael muttered under his breath, then his eyes widened in realization. His expression shifted from nervousness to excitement.

“You’re an Otherworldly Climber, aren’t you? Oh my god, I never thought I’d actually meet one here!”

“I don’t think we’re that rare in the Celestial Domain.” Daniel gave him an indifferent look. The level of excitement the guy showed was a bit much.

“Well, where I come from, you people basically don’t exist.” Drael sighed but his fascination didn’t fade one bit.

“Where are you from?”

“I’m from the Kingdom of Veloran. We’re located near the border between two continents.”

“Never heard of such a kingdom.”

“That’s normal. Have you heard of the Elthanor Empire?” Drael asked.

“Of course. I even spent some time there.” Daniel nodded, recalling some good memories. Those days were much more stable compared to now.

“Well, we’re kind of a vassal state under Elthanor. My kingdom mainly trades in spiritual silk, which is used to make high-grade garments.”

“Interesting. Anyway, how did you find me?” Daniel shifted the conversation back to what mattered. He just wanted a brief idea of who this guy was — and so far, Drael didn’t seem to be lying.

“A bit further that way, there are some massive rocks. I was resting there when I heard the sounds of those monsters. At first, I thought they’d found me, but then I realized they were fighting someone else.” Drael explained, then continued,

“So I decided to take a look — and that’s when I saw you.”

“Have you fought those creatures before? You seemed to know their weakness pretty well.” Daniel asked curiously. Most of those monsters were ranked between B and A, and several were even high-rank B.

There was no way this guy could’ve fought them — unless he had faced a much weaker group.

Or… his actual strength was much greater than his rank suggested, like Daniel himself.

“Fought them? No way. If I ever ran into those things, I’d already be dead. Whenever I see them, I just run.” Drael shook his head quickly, rejecting the idea.

“Then how did you know their weakness?”

“It’s simple, I just reasoned it out. I’ve been here since morning, but they never appeared during the day. I did hear strange noises after nightfall though, which were probably made by those monsters.”

“That means they don’t act during the day. Naturally, they’re either stronger at night, find it easier to hunt in the dark, or have some kind of problem with daylight. Based on the burned areas on their remaining flesh, it looks like those burns never heal — which means if any part of their body is burned, it stays that way forever.”

“So I guessed that light probably doesn’t harm them, since they don’t seem afraid of the moon or the glow of the night orbs. That leaves only one explanation — they fear the heat of the day.”

“So, I concluded that fire and burning them must be their weakness.”

“…”

Daniel felt a bit of doubt and emptiness. Was it really that easy?
