Chapter 411: Contracts and clauses.
Sunshine frowned immediately. What the hell was a gorilla doing in Westbrook Mountain? This mountain did not have gorillas, not according to her research on the animal species that dwelled there.

Had it walked all the way there from somewhere in Babel city?

She grabbed a hold of her hammer. It was the best at breaking bones.

“I can kick it to death.” Hades stopped her from going anywhere. He was ready and willing to be the fighter for once while she stayed home and took care of the children.

Elio’s voice filled the room again. “There is no need for you to come outside and join the fight ma’am, if that is your plan. Pink delivered the gorilla in person. Unfortunately, when it got too close to the gates, it stepped on one of the landmines we buried recently, and Lisha got a bit trigger happy. She activated it and….let’s just there are chunks of gorilla all over the ground and parts of the gate.”

Sunshine put her hammer back in the tool belt all the while wondering what Pink had been planning. Why deliver a mutated gorilla?

Was it another experiment to see if the beast could break through their defenses?

Everyone walked back to the table and Ariel immediately pointed to the contracts. “Back to business.”

The walkie-talkie came to life once again. “Suni, Lisha here. The fight in Westbrook has died down. But it is dark over there so we can’t tell what won the battle. Should we send a squad out to check on the situation?”

“No.” Hades grabbed the walkie-talkie first and responded. “We can do that tomorrow during the day. Don’t forget that the watchers are carrying off superhumans. Better safe than sorry.”

“Got, it. Tell Suni that she will eventually have to face me and talk to me.” Lisha replied.

Hades put the walkie-talkie down. His gaze met Sunshine’s. She shrugged.

“Does anyone have questions about the contract?” Ariel asked.

The adults and Earl turned their attention to the contract. It was time to give it a serious read and analyze the clauses Ariel had included.

Loyalty over bad scents was clause number three. It specified that they could hold their noses around Earl but never abandon him.

Sunshine read a clause that named her specifically. “I vow to share all my snacks and love fairly and to never desire a quieter life over the loud mess of the Quinn’s.” She gave Ariel a look. “Where is this coming from?”

Ariel shrugged. “I have seen you sneaking away to apartment 10D sometimes. I broke in and found repair tools, snacks, books, a television and a hammock.”

Hades laughed so hard he nearly spilled his juice. He thought it was hilarious because he had warned Sunshine about the secret apartment which she had been preparing. He had known that Ariel would realize the truth within a month.

It had taken him two weeks.

Meanwhile, Castiel was already bargaining. “I will sign if I don’t have to share Octi, my stars, mommy, the toys mommy makes for me. And my building blocks. And my snacks, and….”

Ariel stopped him. “Mommy is not yours alone Cass, she belongs to all of us. You are being selfish.”

Castiel folded his arms. “I am not selfish, I am…..mm…mmm…” he turned to Sunshine. “Mommy, tell Ariel that I am not selfish.”

Sunshine ruffled his hair. “You are selfish, mommy is for everyone in the family. I love you all equally even though I love you the most.”

Castiel had been frowning but he was smiling by the end. As long as she loved him the most, he could accept sharing her with the others reluctantly. “But I am not sharing other things,”

Ariel rubbed his temples. “Fine, I will add a clause that exempts you from sharing your things except for emergency situations and when our parents say you must share.”

Castiel grinned.

Hades chuckled. His youngest son had been had. All his brothers had to do was ask the adults for permission and they could take Castiel’s things. It was basically a loophole.

“How about me, do I get concessions?” Sunshine asked.

Ariel looked at her suspiciously. The contract had come into being just because of her. She was the only one that could not be allowed to make changes or else, she would leave them. “Like what?”

“Like the right to quiet time in the bedroom or workshop.” She said.

Ariel nodded, that was not too difficult.

“Alone.” She added.

Hades snorted. “That is not impossible.”

Ariel patted his chest. Quiet time at home was better that quiet time outside their home. If she was outside, maybe she would find that she liked being alone better than being around them.

Hades raised his hand, “In that case, I would also like to petition for alone time.”

“For what?” Ariel frowned at him.

Hades grinned. “To practice my dancing so that I keep your mother happy.”

Ariel snorted.

Earl and Castiel laughed.

Hades added, “Cooking too, I have to learn how to cook without all of you looking over my shoulder and judging me. I also do enjoy watching football and old movies alone.”

Ariel looked in the direction of the television. “Well, you do shout at the television a lot when you are watching football.’

“Like it owes him money.” Earl whispered to Sunshine.

“He breaks it too sometimes,” Castiel added. “One time, he cried when his team lost the game.”

Hades growled softly. “Perhaps we should sign those contracts now and go off to bed.”

Ariel had considered things and he said, “Clause seven: Dad gets alone time as well and he should never yell louder than White during a football match.”

Sunshine looked at Ariel like he had lost his mind. She wondered if she ought to remind her son that little bears grew into big bears and learned to growl. White’s little yips would not last forever.

Sunshine tapped her contract. “I want a clause that says no one ever kicks me out of any room in our house.”

Hades groaned. His wife forgave but she never forgot.

“Everyone helps with all the chores at home.” Tank pitched in from the side. “No more abandoning the robot in the kitchen to do the dishes and cook all the meals.”

He caught them all off guard. They did not expect the robot to have an opinion or feelings.

“Sure.” Ariel nodded. “We should all wear watches or necklaces with location trackers. I want to know where everyone is at every moment.”

“I think that is what thermal bands are for.” Hades replied.

Ariel looked at their arms. Neither Sunshine nor Hades wore their thermal bands. Besides, he did not have access to the information they collected.

Sunshine looked at the clock and then the heavy eyes little ones. It was time for bed. “Ariel, sweetie, if those contracts are to be signed today, it needs to be done now.” She gestured at the little ones who were dozing or yawning.

Finally, the contracts were signed. Castiel scribbled an octopus and White stamped his paw which was dipped in honey.

Hades and Sunshine signed last, exchanging amused glances. Both of them agreed on one thing silently, they needed to pay a visit to Doctor Flora. And they had to be prepared for Ariel reporting everyone that broke a clause.

He was going to be the clause police!!
