Chapter 381: Fight for Bob.
Sunshine got a walkie-talkie, shouting frantically, “Get that bird off the air now. This is Sunshine Quinn to the broadcasting center and it is not a request….” She heard more screeching and a door was slammed shut. “Is anyone there?” she barked.

“I am here.” Father Nicodemus’ voice came. “I flew over as soon as Zulu declared martial law. She is about to take back her words or lose her broadcasting job.”

Sunshine sighed in relief. “Handle it, I am busy.” As soon as she put down the walkie-talkie, she got some painkillers. Zulu was giving her a monster headache and yet she still had to report for the afternoon shift on the space ship.

Zulu’s voice came through the speakers once again. “I have been told that the fat cat is not to be killed but saved. The scuffle you heard was my co-worker Lisha trying to murder me. So, there will be a change from now on. I will be going solo with my own show.”

There was laughter on the base, people could not help it. Zulu was just a funny bird.

“And let me remind you_ because I must _ ” Zulu continued, “Bob is DANGEROUS. Do not underestimate him! And do NOT underestimate ANY CAT on this base! the bird squawked. “In fact, personally_ I find cats suspicious, sneaky, and untrustworthy. You all should be wary of those sneaky bastards. They are plotting to take over the world. My smelling senses have been heightened and I smell a cat.”

“Oh for crying out loud…..I have told that parrot to watch its beak.” Sunshine grimaced. “And it is I smell a rat, not a cat.”

Zulu finally said, with great reluctance, “Lisha has requested that if anyone has seen the fur ball, they should bring him to the studio and receive a very generous reward of fifty thousand dollars. I don’t know why she trusts you people to help…. humans are mostly useless.”

All over the base, people scrambled to find the cat in the hopes of receiving the reward.

Less than a minute later, Zulu was back on the air, louder than before. “Breaking news_ an update in the case. According to reliable information from my sources…this is most likely a kidnapping case!”

Sunshine’s eyes widened and she paused her actions. “A what now?” She could smell trouble brewing all the way from the space where she was assembling the aquarium.”

Zulu screeched with glee, “And the prime suspect…is TRACY KINSLEY! Yes, yes, you heard it first from me! Many of you may not know who she is…Tracy is a new resident and Jon Kinsey’s wife. She is also Bob’s former owner…That was before Bob was sent here as a spy and became Lisha’s burden.”

“Oh God…..” Sunshine groaned. Now, she had a reason to worry because Lisha was going to skin Tracy Kingsley. Some blood would be spilled.

Zulu cackled. “Lisha is on her way to the Kingsley house right now. Do not worry, folks, I’ll be back with all the juicy details, including the part where Lisha pulls out Tracy’s hair. I will be bringing it all to you live from the scene.”

The broadcast was cut.

Sunshine stood frozen for two seconds, then growled, “Damn it, Zulu…..”

She left the space and sprinted out of the door.

Corporal Day saw her and immediately started the car. He didn’t ask a single question. He didn’t even blink. He just drove like his life depended on it because he knew exactly why Sunshine was in a rush.

Lisha had Philip in her bag. She was also friends with Leah. If any of them joined in as her backup, there was no telling what would happen.

The peace of the base probably depended on his speed.

***********

When Sunshine arrived at Jon and Tracy’s house, chaos was already underway.

A crowd had gathered outside. Hades stood at the front, arms crossed, looking like a bouncer waiting for a fight to break out. “Lisha….”

“Stay out of it.” Lisha warned.

Several junior squad members under Ariel’s leadership lingered nearby, pretending to be ready to help but actually enjoying the drama.

And at the center of it all_

Lisha and Tracy were screaming at each other. Lisha was standing below while Tracy looked down from a window on the second floor of the house.

“I KNOW YOU TOOK HIM!” Lisha yelled, pointing a finger like a furious prosecutor demanding a confession.

“I DID NOT TAKE THAT FAT, UNGRATEFUL CAT!” Tracy screamed back.

“BRING ME MY BABY!” Lisha screamed.

“He’s MY baby!” Tracy argued.

“He DOESN’T REMEMBER YOU!” Lisha scoffed.

“Of course he does, I raised him since childhood.” Tracy stomped her foot.

“RETURN MY CAT YOU….YOU FILTHY WHORE!” Lisha bellowed, having reached the limit of her patience.

The spectators oooh’d loudly.

Sheldon stood excitedly to the side, pumping his fist like he was cheering for a wrestling match. “Tracy, you cannot allow this girl to talk to you like that. Take her down.”

One look from Sunshine and his entire soul shriveled. He shut up instantly.

Zulu, perched on a lamp post was egging Lisha on. “FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS, LISHA! HIT HER WITH A LEFT HOOK! PULL ALL HER HAIR OUT! DO NOT EMBARRASS ME OR I AM GOING SOLO!”

“Zulu.” Sunshine barked

Zulu pretended not to hear. “Tell Philip to set her on fire.”

Philip shouted to the bird, “How about I set you on fire.”

Things escalated fast. Lisha picked up a stone and threw it at Tracy’s window. Thankfully, the glass was reinforced, and the stone bounced off with a sad little tink.

Tracy shrieked, “I will sue you, this is property damage.”

She ran downstairs and the moment she burst through the door, she tried to lunge at Lisha, but Jon held her back by the waist.

Then Lisha raised another stone. “This one won’t miss your big head and giant ears.”

The crowd gasped.

“ENOUGH!” Sunshine roared through a megaphone.

Everyone froze.

Even Zulu.

Sunshine walked into the middle like a grumpy mother breaking up misbehaving children.

“Inside.” she ordered Lisha, pointing at Jon’s door. “NOW. And you as well.” She gestured to Tracy.

Everyone filed into the overly decorated house_ golden cushions, shimmering curtains, a chandelier shaped like a giant pearl. It looked like rich person sneezed wealth everywhere.

She turned to Tracy. “Bring out the cat.”

Tracy crossed her arms. “I don’t have him!”

Lisha immediately pulled out her tablet. Bob’s thermal band flashed a dot_ inside this very house.

Sunshine stared at Tracy

Tracy stared back.

Sunshine brought out the hammer.

Tracy cracked. “Fine! The cat is here BUT HE IS MINE and I am not giving him back.”

Sunshine exhaled loudly. “Jon you promised there would be no chaos from your group. This? This is chaos.”

Jon groaned like he aged ten years. “Tracy. Give the cat back.”

“NO.”

“Do you want to be moved to another base?” Sunshine asked calmly

Jon shot up. “HELL NO. TRACY_ GET THE DAMN CAT.”

Tracy tried to bolt but Jon went ahead of her and returned with Bob tucked under his arm_ the fat cat had undergone a make over. He was bejeweled in glittering clothes and golden paw pads.

“Now this is embarrassing.” Zulu cackled.

Bob meowed in embarrassment.

Tracy shrieked, “DON’T GIVE HIM TO HER.”

Sunshine cut her off. “We’ll let Bob choose who he wants to be with.”

The room fell silent.

Lisha stood on one side. Tracy on the other.

Bob was placed gently in the middle.

Zulu hoped on the table. “And the fateful moment begins. It’s a real Sophie’s choice folks. Go On fur ball run to whom you love the most.”

Bob stood still. Blinked, sniffed. Then like lightning sprinted towards Lisha.

Lisha scooped him up in tears like she had reunited with a long lost child. Bob purred like a tractor.

“You traitor!” Tracy shouted.

“Maybe next time you will think twice before dressing him like a pimp.” Zulu flew away, laughing loudly.

Tracy’s face broke. She knelt before Lisha. “Please I am sorry….we can share him! Co-parent! I can even be his cat sitter.”

Sunshine could not believe it. “Just get a new cat for heavens sake. Bob is not worth all this. He is fat and lazy. Do you both know what you are fighting over? He is not even that cute.”

In sync, Lisha and Tracy glared at Sunshine. The two enemies found a mutual one. And just like that, they bonded.

Hades rushed Sunshine out of the house. “I have seen Lisha destroy people for less. Tread carefully.” He told her.

Sunshine raised her hands in surrender. Why annoy Lisha when Nine the bug was waiting for her on the spaceship?
