Chapter 367: Beneath the anger.
Sunshine shrugged. “Is it so bad that I expect this from you? For me, I always put you and the children first. If I was in the position, you were last night, I would have found another way of solving problem. I would not have kicked you out of our bedroom. Leah said…..”
“Leah said!!” Hades exclaimed loudly. He huffed. “I really ought to tell Dominic to keep his angry wife away from you. Suni, Leah is an angry woman that hates her husband right now. You should not be taking advice from her.” His nostrils flared. He was already imagining the bad advice Leah was giving Sunshine.
Maybe she was telling his wife to divorce him! She was probably the reason why the small mole hill was becoming a mountain.
“Oh look, now you are kicking out my friends.” Sunshine said, her voice dripping sarcasm. “Thanks a lot for understanding the point I was trying to make.”
She stood up and stormed to the kitchen, muttering about betrayal and unreasonableness. Hades followed her like a shadow she couldn’t shake.
Tank shrunk his body so that they could not notice him.
Sunshine pushed the button on the coffee maker as if she wanted to decimate it. When it wouldn’t do as she wanted, she slapped it.
Hades pulled her hand back and protected the coffee maker. “Suni, we agreed on no coffee unless you are going to work all night. It keeps you up unnecessarily, you know this.”
“Oh, now you are kicking my favorite beverage out.” She replied.
“Suni, come on. Don’t be dramatic.” He grabbed her hand.
She pulled her hand from his and huffed, placing her hands on her waist. “Dramatic. I am not being dramatic. If I were dramatic, I would declare that I will not be sharing a bed with you tonight, tomorrow, the entire week, month or ever again. Not until you…..” She yelped as she was swept off her feet.
Hades carried her off to the bedroom as she kicked and screamed. Then, he threw her down on the bed, locked the door and threw the key out of the window.
Sunshine gasped.
“I guess we have to share the bed now.” He said nonchalantly.
She sat up, spreading her arms out. “I refuse.”
Hades rolled his eyes and sat down on the bed, looking her in the eyes. A little part of him wanted to laugh at her childish actions. “Suni, you called this our marital bed. That means it is a shared marital asset. Spreading your arms out will not stop me from occupying the same space as you.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Look who thinks sharing is important now.”
Hades groaned. “I am sorry Suni. I swear never to kick you out of bed for any reason ever again. Like Castiel, I promise to take your side on all matters, reasonable or unreasonable. But I do not promise to withhold my logical opinion on whatever it is that will be going on.” He tried to hug her. “Now can we go to sleep?”
She scoffed.
“Better sleep leads to better health. And better health leads to a sunny Sunshine. A sunny Sunshine means a happy family.” He rubbed the tip of his nose against her hand. “All I want is for us to be happy. My actions yesterday were meant for the preservation of our happiness.”
She scoffed. Hades, White and the children had all slept in the same bed while she sulked in the workroom. How were they family if one person was left out? Especially if that one person was her!
She threw his hand away.
Hades sighed. “This is absurd Suni, are we really arguing because I comforted White? You do know that I am only kind to the bear because you brought it home and told me to accept it. Do you remember that I was not comfortable having a bear in our home, around our children and you looked ready to go to war over it. I thought you would be happy to see me embracing White like you wanted me to do.”
Sunshine lowered her head, recalling the exact moment he had expressed his concerns. He was right, she had not left much room for him to refuse White’s residency in their home.
So, why was she mad?
As she pondered on the reason for her anger, Hades rubbed her back in circles. And then it came to her, the real reason why she was so uncomfortable and angry.
Amber! It had all come back to Amber.
But they had already had the Amber conversation. How could she tell her husband that she was worried for the same old reasons again. Moon’s words.
If they could side with a bear over her, what about Amber? In her mind, the picture of the family under blanket changed. Amber joined them while she stood outside the door,
The memory of them feeding White at the dining table morphed. White turned into Amber; they fussed over her and catered to all her whims.
And her, she was watching them from the kitchen, alone, just as she had been in her past life. Sunshine bolted out of bed and ran to the bathroom, locking herself inside.
She got a walkie-talkie from her space and reached out to Nimo while covering a hand over her mouth to hide the sudden sobs that were escaping from her mouth. She could hear Hades banging on the door and calling her name urgently. But she did not want to face him just yet. She was too emotional, and she was afraid that she would say the wrong thing.
She needed to go and find Nimo. Her friend would make it better.
Sunshine got a jacket and boots out of her space. She unlocked the bathroom door and rushed out, bypassing her husband. With the hammer, she broke open the lock on the bedroom door and raced out of the house.
Five minutes later, she slid into a booth across Nimo in the bar. The promise she had made to Ariel went out of the window as she waved at the bartender for two beers.
He nodded at her, handing Dwayne’s burger, fried onions and white to the man. There were only eight people in the bar including Sunshine. Dwayne, Warren, Leah, Dominic and Owen happened to be the ones having dinner and drinks inside. Sunshine did not look their way.
“Okay, spill.” Nimo told Sunshine. “You got on the emergency line and said SOS while crying and asking for my location! Sounds like something serious is happening.”
Sunshine bawled into a napkin that she picked up from the table.
