Chapter 366: A bed war.
Sunshine moved her body forward, preparing to rise and take on another rescue mission. Hades sensed what she was doing and he held her down with his hands, using a little force to keep her where she was.

“Not ours.” Lisha confirmed.

Everyone sighed in relief.

“Is it wrong that we don’t care who dies as long as it is not our people?” Lisha asked with a frown. “The ones I am talking about are from the same group that attacked our people and threw grenades at them. They pursued the trucks and the ice….” She exhaled tiredly. “I have no business feeling sorry for them. I am heading home to hug my Bob to sleep.” She waved at them. “Goodnight, everyone.”

She had barely taken three steps when Philip dropped beside her. “Why hug Bob when you can hug me?” he asked.

Sunshine giggled.

Hades frowned. “Should I be worried about him?”

Standing, Sunshine rolled her eyes. “Grown woman and grown man. Whatever they get up to in their private time is none of our business.” She looked up at the bubble. The watchers were still absent, and the frost stones were falling steadily.

The bubble was making ripples, like water when stones were thrown in over and over. They were actually mesmerizing to watch. So much so that they had created music, a sweet violin melody.

Sunshine blinked. “Wait a minute….” she muttered. Music was not part of the functions of the bubble! Her eyes roamed and she found the source of the sound. It was three soldiers, two female and one male. The women were playing violins, and the man was playing a harp.

They were playing the music for the billionaires who had joined the residents in the third wall that were watching the frost stones falling on the bubble.

As if that was not ridiculous enough, someone was selling popcorn and movie snacks. A group of children were setting up a lemonade stand under the guidance of Sister Anna.

“No wonder Leah is always saying that our base is weird.” Sunshine scoffed, eyes finding the billionaires again. “Why are they always in the third wall?”

Hades had asked the group the exact question only a day ago. “They said it is where all the action happens, the second and third wall. The first wall is boring and only great for aesthetics, VIP services and security.”

Sunshine scratched her ear. In that aspect, the men were right. The first wall did not have drama because it had a small population. Some of the residents that lived there were not so big on interacting with those they thought were below their standards.

Even Sunshine was considered below their standards. They were from Hades’ old wealthy circle.

She did not care about how they perceived her as long as they obeyed her rules, did their jobs and stayed out of trouble. They did all of this perfectly.

“Should we go home?” Hades turned Sunshine around.

She nodded. It was 8:45 p.m. and her day had been a long one. Her plans were to take a warm shower, eat something and sleep. As for enjoying the frost snow view like others, she had lost interest in it after going out and personally experiencing it.

An hour later, she had eaten and taken her bath successfully. Ready for bed, Sunshine laid out a mattress and a thick blanket in the living room. She laid down, enjoying the feel of the silk sheets against her legs.

Just as she closed her eyes, footsteps padded across the living room tiles. They were loud and deliberate.

“What do you think you are doing Sunshine?” Hades asked in the kind of voice that was reserved for his employees when they made a costly mistake in accounting.

Sunshine turned around and looked his way. He was wearing shorts, bare chested, with his arms crossed.

“Didn’t you kick me out of bed for White last night?” She asked him.

Hades was surprised. Hadn’t the milk war ended? Why was there a second part to the drama? “You’re still mad about the White thing?”

“The White thing?” She flipped her hair to the side. “I got an apology from our bear for the tantrum. I got one from Castiel for betraying me. I never got one from you for kicking me out of our marital bed.”

Hades crouched and tried to touch her arm, but she pulled away. He sighed. “It was not an easy decision on me either Suni. White was crying. Whimpering. He probably had nightmares because he tossed and turned all night. I couldn’t just leave him alone.”

“And so, you decided to cast out your wife.” She said unhappily. “I know we never took vows when we married but I have always believed that you will cherish and protect me. I spent the entire night wondering if I was not a priority to you. I wondered where I would be sleeping tonight and if there would be a next time.”

Hades sat down, straightening his shoulders. This was not how he expected their night to go. “Suni, I think you are misunderstanding me. Initially I thought we would laugh over this, I did not think it would become so serious.”

“But it is serious.” She sat up, almost snapping at him. Through the previous night, thoughts, insecurities and doubts had plagued her mind. And then, there was Leah’s question which the woman had asked her when they were in the bathroom before the heading out to the towns.

The woman had said, “You are his second wife. Being thrown out of bed for a pet bear seems funny. To some people, sweet even. But to me, it makes me wonder what reason could be used to kick you out next time. If one of the children does not want you there, what choice will he make?”

Sunshine had suppressed the question and her thoughts all day. As soon as she relaxed, they came rushing in like water from a busted pipe.

“I did not cast you out.” Hades stretched his hand to touch her head but withdrew it. “I did suggest that you take the guest room.”

“A guest room is for guests, not your wife.” She replied. If she did not make this clear, who knew how often it would happen.

In her previous life, she had given up all the comforts for Cassius, her uncle and aunt. In this life, she did not want to give up anything. Be it her man or her bed.

Hades exhaled softly. It was late, Sunshine was tired. He just wanted her to rest after working hard to ensure the safety of everyone on the base. The argument was pointless, and it was time to end it. “If I apologize, will you move back to our bedroom?”

She looked at him sharply, arching her brows. “Are you apologizing for the sake of it or because you were wrong?”

Hades raised his hand in mock surrender. “All of it. Although, I do think I was not wrong. I temporarily prioritized the emotional well-being of our pet for the peace of the family. I did not choose him over you. I know that this is what you are thinking.

You always say that I am dependable. In your mind, as long as I don’t choose you, then I am the opposite of dependable. Am I right?”
