Chapter 338: Hike in gold.
Sunshine had a feeling that Hades would bring up the kid squad topic as soon as they laid down to sleep. And indeed, he did.

“I cannot believe that you are encouraging Ariel to go through with this madness.” He started.

She opened her eyes. Her body was turned away from him, but he was hugging her from behind and his lips were brushing against the left ear. If he did not start with this subject, she would have assumed he was angling for something else. “I cannot believe that this is the subject you want to discuss right now.”

“What else would we discuss?” He asked her.

She turned over and quickly drew his lips to hers. There were much better uses of their time than the subject which could be saved for another day.

Hades pulled away. “Don’t distract me with kisses.”

Sunshine whimpered, making a little sound that was his weakness. Her right hand slid inside his shirt, roaming over his chest. She laid one leg over his thigh and pulled him closer, acting like she needed him to be so close that fused together as one.

“This is not going to work.” He said through gritted teeth. And yet, his body betrayed him. His hand moved against her waist, pulling and squeezing with strength. His body was even more desperate than hers to maintain the closeness.

Her teeth nipped at his earlobe and he growled.

“Is it working now?” She questioned softly.

He growled and covered her lips with his. The answer did not need vocalization when he could prove just how well her seduction had worked.

****

Very early in the morning, Sunshine left Hades asleep, his face half buried in the pillow, his breathing calm and heavy. Memories of how she had tormented him in the night crossed her mind, bringing a smile to her lips.

Despite all the kissing and necking, they had not yet had sex. The thought made her sigh. What was holding them back?

She slipped out of bed quietly, her feet brushing against the cold floor as she made her way to the workshop. As she walked, through the quiet house, she told herself to think of everything but her sex life.

So, she peeked into the children’s bedroom, smiling when she noticed that they were cuddled up together, like the warmth in the room had not been enough. White was tucked between Ariel and Earl.

Even in their sleep, the little bear and Castiel did not want to be put next to each other. The bear had a bed. So, who had transferred it to the children’s bed?

She would have to ask Ariel for an answer. Stepping back, she closed the door and stopped by the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee before proceeding to workshop. Hades had cleaned and organized it again, judging by the neatness of her desk.

Tank’s side showed signs of activity.

Sunshine yawned and stretched her arms like a cat before sinking into the chair. The seat adjusted to her posture with a soft hiss. She took a sip of the coffee, her face twisted instantly as it tasted bitter.

“This needs more sugar.” She murmured. “And milk.”

Tank walked into the room with a cup of better coffee than what she had prepared for herself. He placed the cup on her desk.

“Thank you Tank. How did you know I needed this?” She asked the robot.

“I saw you frowning at the coffee maker the same way Foreman Hades frowns at cooking tools.” It replied.

She chuckled, then checked her virtual screen. The amount of gold she had accumulated flashed before her eyes and made her brows nearly launch off her face.

“2,800,000” she shouted, surprised that the gold coins had increased by that much.

“What?” She gasped, rubbing her eyes as though they deceived her.

The system’s calm voice sounded. [Income source: Wine sales from your shop at the food court. Demand has exceeded supply by 30%.]

Sunshine blinked. “If I had known that I could make such big money from just wine sales, I would have set up this shop sooner.” She leaned back in the chair, laughing under her breath.

To think that she thought all the alcohol she was stocking was useless.

[Host, stock levels are critically low. Authorization needed to restock inventory from the stock depot.]

“Granted.” She said quickly. “System what else can I sell there in your opinion.”

[Anything as long as it is edible. Of course, it is best to sell things you repair or craft.]

“Then add a meat section.” She replied.

There was silence, briefly. Sunshine could feel the unsaid judgement of the system. It made her think of a parents disapproval when a child was going against their wishes to do as they wished.

[Host, your order has been confirmed.]

A response finally came.

Sunshine then requested a link to Bjorn. Her hologram flickered into view moments later.

“Good morning Sunlight.” The alien merchant responded quickly.

Sunshine guessed the eagerness was meat related. “I have a lot of meat for you. But first….does this have any takers?” She exposed the rat carcasses.

“Chimerats, absolutely. Dead or alive, they are used for research. They have a special enzyme found in only their kind.” The merchant explained.

Sunshine was relieved. “How much for each rat? Just so you know, I have a license now so if you quote the wrong price, my business will be taken elsewhere.”

Bjorn remained silent for a few seconds, pondering on it before replying, “Each rat goes for between fifty to sixty galactic coins. If you want gold, we will have to trade by your kilograms.”

Sunshine nodded and then exposed other meat she had to sell. They made a deal quickly_ Bjorn took several containers of rat carcasses and a portion of mutated meat.

Sunshine also bought phasium alloy, weapons like noise bombs whose blasts destroyed the hearing ability of animals for up to six hours. A Gravemesh which was a net made from special spider silk strong enough to trap anything and suppress it.

She had plans to use it on the crocodylus.

Once the trade was done, Sunshine switched to the repair section. A list of pending jobs flooded the display_many were robotic leg repairs, it had been a while since she repaired any.

“Figures.” She muttered.

She accepted all the jobs. With a hum, her workshop table illuminated, dozens of robotic legs appeared. Some attached to robotic creatures and others separated.

“This should be easy with some help.” A sly smile crept onto her lips.

She retrieved the spherical case with the autonomous tool set. It unfolded like blooming flowers_ tiny mechanical arms drills wielding pens, diagnostic probes_all levitating into formation around the work bench.

“Alright, let’s see what you can do.” She said inputting the repair parameters. “Polish joints, rewire circuits, reattach stabilizers. Prioritize leg type P-01 first.”

The tools chirped in acknowledgement and began moving independently, their precision so flawless it almost seemed alive. Sparks danced. Metal fused. Several joints clicked.

When the first robotic legs was finished, Sunshine inspected it closely. Perfect alignment, balanced hydraulics, smooth plating.

[Robot legs repaired successfully

Reward: 65 gold coins and 3 merit coins.]

Sunshine chuckled. “Keep them coming.” She gave more instructions to the autonomous tool set.

As she reviewed the next batch of jobs, another alert interrupted her.

[Door to the Levias sea will be opened in four days. Host, are you interested?]

Sunshine’s heart skipped, the last visit was a disaster. She had almost died but, she had to get the levias marrow extract.

She gave a small nod. “Interested.”

The diving pod that the system had told her about came to mind. “System if I borrow the diving pod from the mall, what would be my chances of survival?”

[99.8%]

“Could you show me what it looks like?”

A 3D projection appeared before her. The front of the pod was a transparent dome reinforced with fractal alloy that could withstand the crashing depths. Six mechanical fins extended from different sides. Each lined with anti pressure stabilizers. The interior showed a suspended gravity chamber, where the diver would float inside a gel like membrane that absorbed all impact and pressure.

It looked like a weird giant alien fish that no creature under the sea would want to mess with.

“I will have to borrow this.” Sunshine whispered, her eyes determined.

[I remind you that it is costly and you are…..]

“Stingy?” Sunshine cut in.

[I was going for cost conscious but stingy fits better.]

Sunshine laughed, her shoulders slumping. “Book it. It is not as if I have an option anyway.”
