Chapter 313: Diving into the sea.
Sunshine could hardly explain her excitement in words to the system, her head bounced up and down vigorously. She could already picture herself swimming in the deep blue waters alongside exotic looking fish.

It had always been her dream to go diving in the ocean on a vacation. The opportunity never came in her last life. In this one, it was knocking on her door. She planned to enjoy it to the maximum even though it would not be a vacation and the world she was going to was an alien one.

Maybe, if it was a safe beautiful place, she would take her children along next time. But it was important to remember why she wanted to visit the sea: ingredients.

“System, I am going to need you to scan the sea as soon as I arrive and help me find levias marrow. Also, I see a mask but no oxygen. Do I need special oxygen, or should I just use one of the tanks I have.”

[No worries host, the mask is fitted to automatically help you breath. There is no need for you to carry an oxygen tank.]

Sunshine got the diving suit and changed into it immediately. She couldn’t help giggling as she twisted back and forth in front of a mirror.

“I look like a princess of an underwater empire.” She muttered.

[The designer of this wet suit which is called the Hydroveil has admitted to being inspired by a princess of Glacis, an underwater empire. It so happens that the Levias sea is in home to this empire.]

Sunshine nodded. She guessed the system chose the wet suit specifically to help her fit in. This meant there was a possibility of running into people on this world. She would have to be careful.

[Two seconds to go. In case you have not noticed, your time in other worlds has been increased to two hours. Congratulations.]

There was no further warning, a gust of wind suddenly shoved her into a hole in the floor, plunging her into darkness for a few seconds. And suddenly, she was descending to the earth, flailing through the air.

For a brief moment, there was nothing, not sound, just quiet. Her feet touched soft ground, and she stumbled forward, the world spinning slightly around her. Cold wind lashed across her faceplate as the suit warmed up. As heartbeat relaxed, she looked around.

It was not very surprising that she found herself standing on what appeared to be a shoreline. What was surprising was that it was night in this world. It was pitch black, the kind of darkness that seemed to devour everything.

There were no stars above, nor was there a moon, only a vast ink of silence stretching into forever.

Sunshine’s heartbeat thundered in her ears, the excitement she previously had all gone. Where was the sun? Where was the beauty she imagined? This was all wrong!

“System, this is the Levias sea?” She asked.

[Yes host.]

“Are you sure? Do you want to double check the coordinates first or something?”

[This is the Levias sea.]

Sunshine shook her head, disappointment setting in. “This is not what I expected at all. Where are the people? Where is the empire? Even if is underwater, there should be signs of them around.”

The system made a humming sound as it scanned the area.

[World: Levias Sea

Classification: Water world filled with protein sources.

Estimated danger: Depends.]

Sunshine frowned. ” The Estimated danger depends? Depends!! System what does that mean?”

[Host, the threat level of the sea depends on many factors and the location. During the day, this particular place is safe from predators, it’s another story after sunset. The biggest creatures come out to hunt at night.]

“It’s after sunset, system…” her voice cracked slightly. “Why didn’t I have to come at night of all times? I cannot help feeling like I have been set up.”

[Host do you want to return to earth. I recommend that you do.]

Sunshine blazed in the black waves, jaw set. “No, I did not come all this way just to go back. I need the Levias marrow extract. I should at least get an alien pearl or something, otherwise it is a wasted trip.”

A silence followed, long and heavy. Then, the system spoke again, almost hesitant.

[I did tell you that the marrow you need can only be harvested from a species known as spikers. They are more active at night, which is why I arranged for your trip to happen at this time. Another problem you have is that they dwell fifteen thousand meters down. That is the sea’s bottom.]

Sunshine’s eyes widened. “Sea’s bottom and that is fifteen thousand meters!” She whispered to herself.

She had never heard of anyone on earth dive that deep. Clearly, she recalled a teacher in school saying something about three thousand meters being the average depth of an ocean. The Levias multiplied that number five times!!

Sunshine felt uneasy. She looked at the timer and noticed that the two hours she had were passing very fast.

01:30 hrs.

She had already wasted thirty minutes. It was time to dive. “System, can this suit handle that kind of pressure?”

[After 4000 meters, activate the deep dive protocol. The suit will re-calibrate. It was created for this exact purpose. If you are afraid, you can also borrow a diving pod from the mall. They charge expensively for such services.]

Sunshine drew in deep breath and activated the lights on the wet suit. “Then let’s try diving without the pod first.”

She walked into the water, slowly because the surface was covered in vegetation.

“System, identify any useful resources that I can send into the space.”

The system scanned the area. [Identified….Red sea moss, sustains hunger and increases energy for seven days.]

Clusters of red flora shimmered nearby. Sunshine sent used her energy to pull many into the space.

[Identified….aquatic life suitable for human consumption.]

The fish here were nothing she had seen before, some had transparent bodies, their bones visible under thin luminous membranes. Others had rings of light rotating across their fins. She collected thousands of them.

“System will they survive in the water on earth?” She paused.

[No, but I have made sure that they are comfortable in the pond in the living section.]

As she swarm deeper, the glow of the surface faded. The wet suit increased her speed, giving her the speed of a powerful fish. At 1000 meters, darkness swallowed her again.

[Host, you now entering the midnight zone.

Threat level is strong.]

Her surroundings grew darker, something massive stirred beneath her_a moving shadow that was vast and silent.

Every nerve in her body froze. “What was that?”

[Analyzing…stem shark, a predatory species detected. Estimated length: 40 meters. It has passed by. Remain motionless for five minutes.]

Sunshine didn’t breathe. Her heart pounded so loud she thought the creature might hear it. After five minutes, the shadow faded away into the void.

[Clear.]

“Activate deep dive security protocols.” She whispered.

The suit responded immediately. Metallic plates shifted, locking tighter. Thin seams glowed with white energy sealing pressure gaps. The chest core pulsed once, twice then the entire suit exhaled, as though alive. The oxygen flow stabilized, and her vision sharpened.

“Let me finish this.” She muttered, diving deeper.

The descent was slow and silent except for the hum of the respirator.

[Host, threats detected within range turn back now or remain very still.] The system warned.
