Chapter 704: Anything less is just Maltreatment
Old Master Bai looked at the pitiful amount of fish in the box and sighed heavily. He knew that Bai Meiyue was still upset with him, especially when he saw the abundant fish in the box that Director Feng brought with him and then looked at the six or eight pairs of fish in his own.

“Alright, don’t be so upset,” said Director Feng. He patted Old Master Bai on the shoulder and said to him, “At least she is willing to give you some fish, which shows that she is willing to accept you. This is better than nothing; at least she didn’t ignore you like Fu Wan.” Earlier, he had run into Xiao Chenye, who was carrying nothing in his hands. Compared to that, Old Master Bai was still in a much better situation.

When Old Master Bai heard his response, his expression softened. Yes, he was still in much better condition. At least Bai Meiyue was not completely ignoring him; this meant that he still had some chance. He nodded. “You are right. Yueyue sent these fish to me because she is still worried about this old man of hers. This is good enough for me.”

Director Feng heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that his old friend had calmed down. However, looking at the puny amount of fish that Bai Meiyue had sent him, Director Feng had a feeling that the anger of the Bai family was not going to go down easily. He sighed, feeling a bit heavy and hoped that everything would be fine in the future.

While Old Master Bai was thinking about how to make Yan Wanning and Bai Meiyue forgive him, Bai Meiyue was looking at Dacheng and Lu Yin, who came to look for her. Feeling her brow twitch in annoyance. She asked, “What is going on? Why are you two here?”

“It seems like you are getting busier by the day, village head,” said Dacheng with a smile. He looked at the many survivors who were taking away the boxes of fish with them, and the smile on his lips turned even stiffer. He couldn’t help but wonder how Bai Meiyue ended up getting so many fish, and that, too, the normal ones. He wanted to ask Bai Meiyue about the source from which she got these fish, but he couldn’t because he knew that even if he asked Bai Meiyue about these fish, she was not going to tell him.

“No matter how busy I am, I am not as busy as someone. What’s the matter? Don’t you want to rest after such a big battle last night?” Bai Meiyue asked. “I mean, no matter what, I can never compare to you, Deputy Commander Dacheng.”

Dacheng curled his lips upon hearing her response. “It’s all because of you and Lei Qian. If you two hadn’t stepped back then, how would we have gotten the chance to climb so high? It’s because you two stayed in the back that we were able to get a chance to take over.”

Dacheng smiled kindly at Bai Meiyue. He then turned to look at Lu Yin with a calm look on his face, and the woman bent down to pick up the packages that they had brought with them. “These are a few things that we have brought for your child and you. They are not worth much. Just something that we brought for the help that your man had given us last night.”

“It’s nothing. But it seems like your information was a bit lacking,” said Bai Meiyue with a raise of her brow. “Yu Miaomiao wasn’t in any of the cars that you told us she would be in. Did no one expect her to go to Bai Feng?”

Once she finished speaking, the smile on her face turned serious. She knew that after Lei Qian helped Dacheng and the rest, they would certainly come to thank her. After all, because of Lei Qian, Dacheng was able to get his hands on more than a thousand ability users whom he could train and use as he wanted. And Bai Meiyue believed that Dacheng, who was such a deep-minded person and who had climbed up to this position, would have his own plans to deal with the situation at hand.

Sure enough, when Dacheng heard what Bai Meiyue said, the expression on his face changed and turned serious. “I had no idea about this. It seems like your sister, Bai Xue, escaped from the safe zone and went to Yu Miaomiao, letting her have a handle over Bai Feng. He sighed and said, “I never expected that the girl would be this foolish. She didn’t want peace, but instead she wanted chaos. Why in the world did she go to look for Yu Miaomiao? As far as I know, that girl was having a decent life in the safe zone under Bai Feng, and yet she went to look for Yu Miaomiao.
