Chapter 485: Chapter 485: Meeting the Murong Family
“Okay, I am reassured by your words. Once I go back, I will start the process.

How long do we have?” Liang Wei was someone who didn’t drag his feet.

Since the decision had been made, he would start his task immediately.

He just needed to hand in his resignation first.

“We won’t stay here for long because we don’t know when the next disaster will strike and what it will be.

So, it’s better to go back as soon as possible to avoid a disaster.” Chu Miao wanted to go back and build the teleportation arrays she hadn’t been able to.

She wanted to be prepared for any situation.

“Alright, then. I will recruit as many people in the next few days as possible.” Liang Wei promised before he pointed to the small driveway of a small house standing on its own compound.

“This is the Murong house, the Li house is next door.” Liang Wei explained while pointing to the two houses that were adjacent to each other.

” Thanks for bringing us.” Murong Yi thanked him and took the lead to get off the vehicle to knock on the gate.

Before his hand could touch the gate, it opened from the inside and a beautiful woman who appeared too thin for someone her height appeared in everyone’s view.

She had tears in her eyes that threatened to fall at any time.

Murong Yi looked at his mother, whom he hadn’t seen for over a year and felt a sour feeling rise on his nose and his eyes watered.

He had been on a mission several months before the apocalypse and when Ye Xuan called all of them back, he went straight to City A and hadn’t had the time to go home before the apocalypse started.

He hadn’t expected his mother to have lost so much weight and aged in just a short year.

In fact, his mother had always maintained herself well and worked out often.

It was because of worry for her son and the limited resources, especially food that had caused her to change so much.

But he didn’t need to worry too much because the thing they lacked the most was food.

“Mom.” Murong Yi tried his best to steady his voice.

“Son. You are finally back. You have no idea how much mom was worried about you.

It’s good that you are safe, it’s good that you are safe, it’s good that you are safe…” Murong Yi’s mother kept repeating the same words over and over again while silent tears fell from her eyes.

This was the first time Murong Yi had seen his usually strong mother shed tears so openly.

He felt bad that he was the reason for her tears, but was also grateful that his family was still there.

“Okay, let’s talk inside.” A rough and deep voice with an oppressive sense of authority was heard that cut short the sentimental moment between the mother and son.

Murong Yi looked up and saw a man who had also changed a lot in the last year.

His father was thinner than he remembered, but he had a sharper edge than before the apocalypse.

That feeling only came from someone who had shed a lot of blood.

It seemed that his father had gone in more than a few hunts over the last few months.

“Dad.” Murong Yi called out as a greeting.

“Welcome back son.” Murong Chen said to his son.

After the greetings, everyone followed the family of three inside.

Inside the house, the living room wasn’t big as the house was average size, but it was big enough to accommodate them all.

The living room had the other members of the Murong family, including the younger brother they had met the previous day, Murong Si.

After a round of greetings, Li Kun stood up.

“Uncle Murong, Auntie, I will go check on my family first. Let’s talk again later.” He didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere but he couldn’t wait to get home.

“Oh, Li boy, go home and see your mother. Ever since she heard that you were back, she has been peeking at the gate every hour.” Murong Chen said with a rare smile.

Everyone almost wanted to say, the only reason he knew others were peeking at the gate was because he was doing the same waiting for his son.

But no one had the guts to say it.

“Okay, thank you uncle.” Li Kun said before standing up.

Pei Ming and Jing Xian stood up as well. They couldn’t let their brother go home alone.

Since they had already seen Murong Yi’s family, they had to support Li Kun as well.

“We’ll go over with him.” Pei Ming explained to the surprised faces in the living room.

“Do you need anything?” Chu Miao asked Li Kun who was about to leave.

“Eh, sister-in-law, how about some meat cooked by auntie? I am sure my family will appreciate it quite a bit.” Li Kun had always been simple-minded and somewhat shameless.

He was never burdened when asking for things from people he considered close.

So, when he asked for the best meat dishes from Chu Miao, he didn’t even blush.

“Okay then.” Chu Miao smiled and soon containers filled with still steaming dishes appeared in front of everyone.

There were dishes made from beef, pork, chicken, roasted ducks, and even fish.

There was a big pot of fish soup as well made with herbs found in the forest in the Soul Ring.

There were also vegetable dishes and even fresh fruits.

Before long, not only the table, but the ground was filled with food.

“Alright, sister-in-law, that’s enough. If I take anymore, it will just spoil. If the food gets finished, I’ll just come for more.” Li Kun finally stopped Chu Miao who seemed to want to empty the entire kitchen in the Soul Ring.

“Mmm…feel free to ask if you need anything.” Chu Miao said.

“Okay. By the way, auntie, how is the water supply here? Does my family have enough water for consumption?” Li Kun first replied to Chu Miao before turning around to ask Murong Yi’s mother about the water situation.
