Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Danger of Airborne Viruses
Hearing this Ye Xuan called Lei Ying over so that he could pass the message to the elders and had a newly arrived soldier take over his spot of distributing medicine.
“Before we start work, have all your men take that medicine. We don’t know if there are any viruses that could be airborne here.
It’s better to prevent any possibility of contracting a disease here.” Ye Xuan told the two men who were the captains of the two squads of soldiers selected by Commander Shen for the job.
The leaders didn’t argue with Ye Xuan or ask questions. First because they were soldiers and they never questioned their superior’s orders. Ye Xuan’s rank was far higher than theirs and they had to obey all his commands.
Also, before they came, they had been instructed by Commander Shen to do everything instructed by Ye Xuan or any other member of his team without questions, especially the young girl with the most beautiful face.
There were only two girls there and they knew Yu Wane’r, hence, they almost immediately knew that the girl Commander Shen had been talking about had to be the other teenage girl sitting together with the president’s daughter.
Even though they hadn’t been told her identity, they were aware that it wasn’t ordinary for the Commander to specifically remind them.
Therefore, when Ye Xuan asked them to take medicine, the two leaders had their soldiers form two queues on the side.
Seeing that they wanted to join the already existing queues, Chu Miao who had heard their conversation with Ye Xuan turned to one of the leaders and called him over.
Just as instructed by Commander Shen, the leader walked over to Chu Miao without asking why she called him.
Chu Miao produced another bucket filled with medicinal liquid and offered it to the soldier.
“You guys are stronger and need more strength to work for the people, so each person should drink a full cup of the medicine. If it’s finished before everyone gets their share, come back for more.” Chu Miao said before taking out a bag full of disposable cups and handing it to the soldier who held a bucket filled with a green liquid in one hand and held the bag of cups in the other.
“Thank you, Miss.” Since he didn’t know her identity, the soldier could only address her as Miss.
Chu Miao nodded her head at him and turned back to continue distributing the medicine.
On the other hand, the soldier walked over to stand before the two queues of his soldiers and put the buckets down.
He took one disposable cup and scooped a full cup of the medicine and gulped it down.
He had thought that the taste would be the same as regular Chinese medicine, bitter beyond imagination, but to her surprise, the medicine had a slightly sweet and refreshing taste.
He didn’t understand what was happening but he had the soldiers walk over and serve themselves.
Thus, the soldiers each walked to the bucket, took a paper cup and scooped medicine before drinking it and disposing of their cups in the bin.
Because of their organized actions, it took less than ten minutes for all the soldiers to drink their medicine.
Also, all the medicine in the bucket was gone, hence the leader took the bucket back and went over to Ye Xuan to report.
“Alright, take the most able-bodied people among the residents who have already taken the medicine and let them help in cleaning up this place.
Find an open area or open one and burn all the rubbish you collect. Do not joke about the clean up. Make sure the people are supervised.
Have the residents living in shacks go back and collect their belongings then tear down those shacks and burn the materials.
They will be given tents depending on the size of their families.” Ye Xuan instructed and the leaders saluted before leaving to fulfill the task.
In fact, both Ye Xuan and Chu Miao had thought about giving the pre-fabricated houses and apartments to the people there, but they were worried that it would not be enough and might cause conflict to arise if those who didn’t get any caused trouble.
Moreover, if these people were given such valuable resources for free, they would become too entitled and expect things to just be handed over to them.
This was bad for long-term survival. Thus, they eventually decided to just let them live in tents.
If their lives got better, they could just collect building materials themselves to build some simple houses.
Soon, there was noise everywhere as residents rushed to collect anything they deemed valuable at home and also started cleaning.
There were those who collected garbage thrown everywhere, those who took brooms to sweep even though everything there was just soil.
As more people took their medicine and joined the clean up, a huge pile of trash formed in the place that had been cleared for the purposes of burning.
Among the residents, there were superpower users as well. It was just that with the lack of resources, most of their powers were still in the first level.
Even though it couldn’t fight the current levels of zombies, the superpowers were still useful for things like burning trash and sweeping away the ashes.
However, it was these superpower users who realized that the medicine they had taken was not ordinary.
Some who had been stuck at the first level of superpower for months experienced a breakthrough at that moment and were overjoyed.
Even though they had just become level two superpower users, they were happy because they knew that they were closer to those worshipped because of their abilities.
Many of the superpower users were still at the third level. Very few had the talent of people like Yu Wane’r who could break through to level four or five so quickly.
The Southern part of the safe base that day became a haven of activity.
