Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Establishing a Business Connection
The skinny guy named Monkey walked to the front and opened the gate. He was clever and knew how to act according to circumstances. That was why the leader had asked him to lead Chu Miao inside.

Therefore, instead of opening the small gate to let Chu Miao walk inside, he opened the big gate so that she could drive her car inside as well.

To their surprise, she was completely down to earth without a show of authority or a sense of superiority. This was a first for them.

The only other person who had the ability to face them on equal terms and even crash them was Feng Tu, the friend this girl was looking for.

However, just like her friend, she never provoked them or tried to interfere in their business.

She had simply told them when they came not to disturb her family and they wouldn’t clash.

In fact, they hadn’t been so amiable when they first came to this place immediately after the floods had dried up.

Fortunately, they had started doing business with other survivors and had exchanged some supplies for weapons.

After looking at different places in the city, they had eventually settled for this older community because they realized that even though it was old, it had survived the floods with everything still more or less intact.

The people who lived here were also not those rich that would bring them problems, nor were they too poor to pay some protection fee.

“Eh.. Miss…” Monkey started to talk when Chu Miao interrupted him.

“You can call me Chu Miao. Miss makes me sound like an old, arrogant bully.” Chu Miao said it so seriously that Monkey thought that everyone addressed as Miss was an arrogant and old bully.

“Well, Chu Miao, are you and Miss Feng close?” Monkey was just looking for a topic to start a conversation because he felt that the silence in the car was too deafening for him.

“Miss Feng is nice, but isn’t to be provoked. You give me the same vibe.” Monkey said with an awkward laugh.

It was Chu Miao’s turn to be surprised. She knew how she appeared to many people recently. So, for someone to say that another person was similar to her, that wasn’t easy.

She wondered what had happened to make the usually amicable and naive Feng Tu change so much.

She didn’t doubt Monkey’s words because she knew that the apocalypse was similar to the wars she fought in the past.

Innocent citizens could turn cold-hearted in one night if they experienced their city or town being massacred by enemies trying to take over their country.

It seemed like the apocalypse had changed everyone.

“Well, right now no one can be provoked without a reason. Otherwise you might invite trouble.” Chu Miao just said this off-handedly because she didn’t know what else to say.

“We are here.” Monkey had been pointing out the direction and after driving for a few minutes, they stopped outside one of the buildings.

Chu Miao looked outside the car window and realized that even though the weather had cooled and there weren’t any zombies in this community, no one was outside their building either.

She didn’t understand whether it was due to fear or anything else. But that wasn’t her problem to worry about.

“Thank you for bringing me.” She politely thanked Monkey who waved his hands and said it was okay.

As he was about to get out of the car, he seemed to have mastered the courage to say something.

“By the way, Chu Miao, we sell supplies or exchange them. If you ever need anything, just come to the Mills place where there used to be a small park and ask for Monkey.

I will definitely give you a discount.” Monkey was nervous when he said this, but he thought that if Chu Miao really came, then that was business as well.

“What do you guys sell?” Chu Miao’s interest was piqued.

“Well, everything. We have rice, flour, sugar, salt, oil, noodles, everything you might want, even cleaning and hygiene products. Although many people don’t have enough to buy those and spend what they have on food.” Monkey replied enthusiastically.

“And what do you exchange them for? It couldn’t be money.” Chu Miao asked curiously.

So whatever you want, we can find.” Monkey continued to promote their business.

Monkey wondered why Chu Miao didn’t want anyone else to go to the garden community but he knew better than to ask questions.

“Alright, I will go talk to my boss. I will come find you soon.” Monkey said happily as he got out of the car and left with a spring in his step while whistling.
