Chapter 1676: Gocki Village (Part 1)
Gocki Village

[The war between Gocki Village and Iron Mountain Village has begun. 27:59:59]

Aseem, the Lord of Gocki Village, looked at his people, prepared to fight on the battlement. In wars, when they were the defending territory, he required every citizen to fight.

Most of them were weak and not fighters, but no one useless had the right to remain in his land. He had, historically, thrown out quite a few people who refused to fight.

Anyway, it had done great things for him so far, and he now had two satellites!

Looking at the forests, he watched for any changes in the forests, like all the guards assigned to a portion of the wall. He did not think he’d have to go through this so soon.

The fact that he, the Lord of a village with two satellites, had to go through another war he did not start made him feel a bit miffed.

“What is Iron Mountains and why have we never heard of it?” he asked Ihee, his right-hand man and advisor.

He had been asking this question since the declaration, and he wondered if they had found out anything in this time frame.

“I haven’t heard of it, Milord, and none of our citizens have.”

“What?” he yelled. “How dare an unknown village make a scene? Did they choose randomly?”

It was just that to declare war, the Lord had to have his place on their maps, purchased or otherwise. He had not heard of a nearby village named Iron Mountains at all.

Did those bastards really choose randomly?!

“That, I do not know, Milord,” Ihee said. “But they could be after the elementalists we received during the last war. They are very good, after all, and we used so many mercenaries at the time. The numbers might’ve been leaked elsewhere.”

“I see, that makes sense,” he said, voice calm, but he was gritting his teeth. Whoever these people were, how dare they covet what was his!

[Elementalist slaves, line up.] His order resounded in the heads of slaves.

He then watched as hundreds of elementalists lined up along the main avenues while the rest lined up in the battlements, making sure that no section remained unguarded.

The slaves’ states varied, however. Some were still recovering from the previous war, though most were decent in their standards.

Anyway, elementalists recovered much faster than everyone else, and their attacks had extra penetrating effects, so how could he not maximize them?

[Kill the enemies! Get their heads!]

He yelled, and his people cheered to the top of their lungs. The guards also ordered the slaves to chant the same.

“KILL! KILL! KILL!”

Their voice resounded, and they should be audible to the enemies before they even reached the walls. This should intimidate them, lower their momentum.

Aseem smirked.

He didn’t know what that village was, but they certainly had no idea what they were going against!

…

Thirty Minutes Later

Aseem frowned. “Where are they?” He asked, looking around. He looked at Ihee, who took out his aether letter.

Just as they were the ones who could hire Mercenaries, they also had a few aether letters in the territory. It was good to have noble relatives in towns.

Anyway, through this, they had better communications even with people at the opposite side of the territory.

As Ihee read the reports, his frown deepened. “There are still no signs anywhere else.”

“Did they abandon the war?”

“Very likely, Milord! After all, the chant is very intimidating!”

Aseem agreed to this. He had shown power even before the war, maximizing the increase in population after winning the wars. Perhaps they really won this without fighting! What an achievement!

Ihee nodded with a proud smile, also thinking it was amazing. He looked around and appreciated their numbers, but he suddenly paused, his eyes constricted as he looked in a direction.

“S-Smoke!”

In opposite sites of the territory, far from the gates, smoke from battles arose all of a sudden.

“ATTACK!”

He sprinted there along with several teams. There were still people left in this place, of course, but there were no signs, nor were there unusual movements in the forests this time, so it was likely to be the real attack, and not a distraction to get them away from other areas of the battlement.

They divided the team, and at least a third went to each smoke, ready to fight at a moment’s notice. He also sent the elementalists in both parts, ordering them to fight to the death.

When he was heading there, he was going with the attitude of an ongoing attack, and he was there to block the leaks.

After all, if they had attacked any earlier, he would’ve been alerted by an aether letter. This meant that it had only been a couple of minutes since they started attacking!!

Since he believed that the enemy had just attacked, it was impossible for them to have truly done enough damage! He reckoned most of that the smoke was just a distraction!

He cursed. Damned enemy. Dare to fool him!

He already imagined himself massacring the attackers. Even if the one he headed to was a distraction, he’d kill those bastards. He was also prepared to run to the next smoke until he found the true leaks

When he arrived though, he lost all blood on his face.

No, it was not a distraction in the end.

His eyes reflected the score after score of enemies already heading inside, barraging through, and his own defenses seemed useless against it.

There was already a good portion of the wall that had been breached, and enemies were continuously flowing in. Where were his own people?!

He could feel his aether letter heating up as well. This must be a dream, he told himself, an illusion. Absent-mindedly, he checked the aether letter, and they were all asking for help. Apparently, the same thing was happening everywhere else!!

He felt his ears ringing, unable to absorb what was happening in front of him.

“What…what is happening!?”
