1664: Golden Pairings 1664: Golden Pairings The discussion went on and the atmosphere between the two parties changed many times, with the latest one being one of aghast.

They looked at Misha and the others with disbelief.

“You’re asking our Lord to go out of the territory with you?” Rey asked, tone awkward.

“Forgive us, but that’s a bit difficult.” More of the Guardian villagers spoke after that, stating the thousands of reasons why their Lord absolutely cannot leave the village with strangers!

The Alterrans, on the other hand, were used to this scenario after going through it so many times.

Being mobbed by rising tones and splattering saliva no longer fazed them.

At some point, Otto just let out a bit of aura, and they all calmed down, putting distance between them by instinct.

At the same time, the show of force made people even more scared of what was to come.

Would they force their hands?

Would they have to fight against a level 40?

Granted, he would be kicked out if he made an attack, but the strength of that level was unimaginable to them and therefore terrifying.

What kind of damage a level 40 could do before they were pulled out was something they did not want to risk.  However, it wasn’t like Otto had a choice but to show off his aura.

If he didn’t, they’d be covered by splatters of saliva from people yelling at them.  This time, it was Misha who stepped forward.

“We understand your concerns,” she said.

“However, how do you think we’d form alliances?

We don’t have a Lord, and even if we did, they definitely wouldn’t go here for that.”  “But-” “Do you expect us to trust you?

Anyone would have trouble-” Baltheo sighed.

“It’s fine, I will go,” he said, making everyone gasp and look at him.

“Milord-” “I have my reasons.” Baltheo obviously didn’t want to do it either.

However, he trusted his gut.

As long as there weren’t any accidents-he wouldn’t regret it.

… Baltheo, while he prepared for the long trip, assigned someone to give their guests a tour.

The Alterrans appreciated the gesture and took this time to further learn about this new ally.

The tour ended a few hours later, and they finally headed back to the inn.

Otto and Misha, unsurprisingly, shared a room.

He was also quite well behaved in front of Misha, and he was not like the irate guy who glared at anyone who stared at her.

When they entered the inn, all his attention was on her, holding her slim waist and pulling her close, as if he wanted to conjoin their bodies.

Obviously, someone was in heat, and it heated up people’s eyes, making their eyelids twitch.

In the rooms next to them were their teammates’, who stared at their door long after the couple went inside.

“Wow.

I heard Otto was an even worse playboy than Oslo was back then,” one said.

“I guess Miss Misha managed to rope him in.”  Another nodded.

“Speaking of Oslo… I kinda miss him.” … Back in Alterra, a certain duo was partnered up to figure out the capabilities of the new metal discovered in Iron Mountains-the criel.

In the short time they had been studying the metal (though granted, they practically slept with it on their arms for weeks straight), they found quite a few uses for it.

One was the enhancement of some metallic weapons.

It wasn’t out in the market yet, but perhaps it could be their way to creating a Class C weapon and armors-assuming Brenda and her father could manage to handle it, of course.  They figured it could also be used for certain gears, pistons, and boilers for their machinery.

It also had uses in their electrical applications, adding massive efficiency in their solar panels.

Eventually, it could also be used to create great batteries.  It hadn’t been long since the metal was discovered but-with the right tools and equipment-Lin the “Goblin Queen” really figured it out a lot.

Most were still in the experimental and testing phases, of course, but that didn’t make things any less amazing.

“I’m impressed,” Oslo said, looking at the metals in front of him.

As a metal user, he was often called in to use his abilities so she could study it more intimately.

He found it difficult at first, but Oslo eventually got the hang of it.

Lin had helped him a lot, and metaphorically held his hand in the process, so he was able to do this despite a lot of ‘modern science’ concepts he had yet to grasp.

He also found himself improving a lot, particularly as an elementalist.

Since ‘training’ with her, the lifespan of his metal became twice as long and quite a bit stronger.

So… Oslo decided to grace her with his handsome face for a bit longer.

Lin had no idea what was going on in the guy’s head.

She was just focused on the metal and what they could do with it.

Since she was among the people who found it, she was particularly invested in finding good use for it!

Discovering a new metal had always been her dream-it was what most experts would have as the ultimate life accomplishment.

Terran had already been explored for the most part, but this new world still had so much she could see and discover.

Lin had been fascinated with metals and minerals since she was a child.  Her baby toys were miniature foundry kits or geology discovery kits.

She was the daughter of top geologists, and she had been surrounded by these things since as far as she could remember-it was already a part of her, her identity, and all of her goals.

And since her family had died before the disaster-perishing from different accidents-there really wasn’t anything that anchored back in Terran anymore.

Transferring to this whole new world, she had no regrets.

This new world had so many new things she could still explore, and this world was where the goblins-her soul brethren-lived.

In a sense, she was actually happier here.

Who would have thought?
