Chapter 518: Bionics XXI
He thrust his hand inside and crushed the core with one decisive squeeze.

The light died instantly.

SQ-L88’s body froze.

Its eyes dimmed.

The sentinel collapsed completely, limbs falling limp as all power shut down.

Silence filled the chamber.

Asher exhaled slowly and stepped back, wiping metal dust and blue residue from his hand.

The Knight stood beside him, sword lowered.

Asher looked at the broken machine and muttered, “Finally done.”

Then he turned toward the deeper hall ahead.

“Next.”

Asher stepped over the broken pieces of SQ-L88 and moved deeper into the hall. The Knight walked beside him, its steps heavy but steady.

The hallway ahead was darker. The lights on the ceiling flickered, and long shadows stretched across the floor. The air felt heavier too, like something further inside was watching them.

Asher wiped the last bit of blue residue from his hand and rolled his shoulder once.

“Alright,” he muttered. “Whatever’s next… better be worth the trouble.”

They walked forward.

The floor changed first—smooth metal turning into deep black alloy engraved with strange markings. Each step the Knight took made the markings glow faintly in red lines.

Asher narrowed his eyes.

“That’s new.”

A loud clang echoed somewhere ahead, followed by a slow grinding sound. Something large was moving.

Asher raised his guard. The Knight lifted its sword.

A heavy door at the end of the hall began to open, sliding upward with a deep mechanical groan. Dust fell from the frame as the lights inside flared on.

What stood behind it was massive.

A towering machine—bigger than SQ-L88—stepped forward. Its entire body was reinforced with thick armor plates, and its arms were shaped like huge crushing hammers. Its chest held three glowing cores instead of one.

Its voice rumbled like grinding metal.

“Designation: SQ-L7 Titan Unit.Purpose: Destroy intruders.Status: Fully operational.”

Asher clicked his tongue.

“Great. A bigger one.”

The Titan Unit took another step, and the floor shook from the weight.

The Knight shifted into a ready stance.

Asher cracked his neck.

“Alright then.”

The Titan lowered its massive arms, steam hissing from its vents.

“Combat sequence beginning.”

Asher tightened his fists.

“Let’s go.”

The Titan Unit moved first.

It didn’t sprint like SQ-L88.It charged—a full-body rush, each step shaking the floor. The air vibrated from the weight behind it.

Asher barely had time to react before a hammer-sized fist came crashing down toward him.

He rolled to the side as the blow slammed into the floor.

BOOM.

Stone and metal exploded upward in a cloud of dust.

The Knight jumped in to counter, sword coming down in a clean arc aimed at the Titan’s shoulder joint.

The strike hit—

—but it didn’t even scratch the armor.

The Titan didn’t flinch.

It swung its second hammer-arm sideways. The Knight blocked, but the force launched it across the hall, smashing it into a wall hard enough to crack the stone.

Asher shot forward.

He slammed a punch into the Titan’s chest.

Metal dented—slightly—but the Titan didn’t move. Instead, its three glowing cores flared brighter, each one pulsing with heavy energy. The machine grabbed Asher by the shoulders and lifted him off the ground like he weighed nothing.

Asher tried to break free.

The grip didn’t budge.

The Titan’s voice rumbled.

“Muscle output insufficient.”

Asher clenched his jaw.

“Let go.”

He slammed his forehead into the Titan’s head.

The impact made a dent, but the machine didn’t loosen its grip. Instead, it squeezed harder, metal fingers digging into Asher’s arms.

The Knight suddenly rammed into the Titan from behind, sword stabbing into the back plating. It didn’t pierce through, but it forced the Titan to stagger half a step.

That was enough.

Asher tore himself out of its hold, flipping backward and landing next to the Knight.

“Thanks,” he muttered.

The Knight didn’t speak, only raised its sword again.

The Titan reoriented, eyes glowing brighter.

“Engaging dual-target elimination mode.”

Panels opened along its arms.

Energy gathered at the hammer-heads.

Asher’s eyes narrowed.

“This one actually charges up attacks…”

The Titan lifted both arms and brought them down.

A shockwave blasted across the hall. The floor split open.Walls shook.Dust burst outward.

Asher and the Knight were both thrown back by the wave.

Asher hit the ground, rolled, and got up quickly.

“Okay,” he said, shaking the ringing out of his ears. “This thing’s on a different level.”

The Titan didn’t wait.

It charged again.

The ground trembled with every step.

Asher braced himself.

The Knight stood at his side.

The Titan raised one massive hammer-arm to crush them both—

And the next round began in full force.

The Titan’s hammer-arm came down like a falling mountain.

Asher grabbed the Knight and pulled them both aside just in time.

The hammer smashed into the floor, blasting chunks of stone into the air. A deep crater formed where they had stood.

Asher didn’t wait—he rushed forward.

He leaped onto the Titan’s arm, sprinting up the massive limb toward its head.

The Titan reacted fast.

Its other arm swung sideways like a giant club.

Asher ducked low and jumped off, flipping over the strike. He landed behind the Titan and tried to punch the back of its knee.

The hit landed—

—but the Titan didn’t buckle.

Not even a little.

“Of course,” Asher muttered. “Why would its legs be normal?”

The Knight charged from the front this time, slashing at the Titan’s chest. Sparks burst again, metal screeching, but the armor held strong.

The Titan grabbed the Knight’s sword mid-swing and yanked it forward.

Then it kicked.

The Knight flew back like a ragdoll, crashing into a pillar that immediately collapsed.

Asher flinched.

“That’s bad.”

The Titan turned toward him.

All three cores glowed brighter—deep, pulsing red.

Steam hissed from its vents.

“Damage to intruder unit: rising.

Threat elimination: priority.”

Asher stepped forward and raised his fists.

“You really talk too much.”

The Titan charged again.

Asher ran straight toward it.

They collided in the center of the hall.

Asher punched with all his strength, slamming his fist straight into the Titan’s core plate. The Titan swung its hammer-arm at the same time.

The two attacks collided.

A shockwave blasted outward, rolling dust across the floor.

Asher slid back several meters, boots scraping hard.

His arm went numb from the impact.

The Titan didn’t move an inch.

It lifted its hammer again.

Asher’s eyes sharpened.

“Fine. We’ll break you apart piece by piece.”

He rushed in again.

The Titan swung—

Asher slid under the blow and punched the Titan’s knee from the other side.
